At work I live in Sketcher loafers. I walk so much that the high heels have been sent to the back of the closet and only come out for special occasions. And work frowns on rollerblades or wheeled cross country skis. Shoe Carnival always has a decent selection of Sketcher loafers. And now they come with memory foam insoles. I don’t mind the slip-ons but do prefer the lace up variety. Not Shoe Carnival’s fault that Sketcher doesn’t seem to make them anymore. I need a larger size than the norm and they seem to be the sizes that sell first and most. Get here early when they get the new styles in for women if you want larger than a 8.5. The store is always clean and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful but only if you need it. I like being left alone to browse for awhile and leaving me alone until I ask is appreciated.

Now and then I snag a really good deal… the store is clean and the employees are competent… that’s about all you can ask from a chain shoe store!

I can’t remember the last time I was in a shoe carnival other than entering one of their outlet shops. I was with four women, shoe shopping was going to happen. You should have seen the excitement on their faces, including the youngest at a mere 1 years old. Everyone wanted something. It sounded as though all ages of ladies were happy with the selections. Can’t say I was too fond of the athletic sneakers. I’m a huge Puma fan and their selection stunk. They had the typical Madden formal collections and general everyday shoes. We were in the store for something specific. Men’s sandals. It was Memorial day and the manager was on the PA system announcing the current specials. Bo-Go with half off offers and free stuff when making certain purchases. It’s been years since I’ve heard management use the PA system for such announcements. The two men were able to find some decent sandals and were able to use one of their current promotions. Other than their lack of stylish shoes my only other concern was that the offer didn’t get sale pricing. See the offer was buy one, get the second at half off. The offer never mentioned having to buy the first shoe at regular price. Well, I only figured that out after the purchase was complete. I can’t believe I paid retail for something. It bothers me. You see I have a smart phone and can scan bar codes to see(best) pricing in nearby stores and found a better offer elsewhere. Oh well. Large size store with decent sale pricing on some styles and at least a couple times associates asked if they could assist. Decent shoe shopping experience.
