I’ve come to this Pep Boys several times because of the trustworthiness and friendly customer service from the employees (mainly Kameron and Kyle). These guys are always willing to go the extra mile and see what deals are available that apply to what I’m looking for. They are also very knowledgeable in explaining the roles and importance of the different parts that I’m getting replaced/​fixed. Being a full time student and having a full time job means that I need my car running in its best condition to get me places and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with it other than «the boys» down here at pep boys.

So I have a battery to turn in, because charging it daily and getting it jumped meant it was a bad battery. Fully charged you had 1 start in it and maybe 2 hrs.
Took it in and bought a new battery. They tested the old and they said it takes a charge so no credit!

Screw this place. Came here for four oil changes and each time I had conventional oil put in my car. Being a new car owner I had no idea my car requires synthetic. Fifth time I go the rep tells me I’ve needed synthetic the whole time and that conventional oil can mess up my engine ! How could four different people mess that up?! Not to mention that they left the cap off of where they replaced the oil and I had burning oil all over my engine! Went somewhere else to get this all cleaned up. These people can’t even change oil do not come here.

These guys tasted me extremely well and took care of everything in an affordable fashion.
I’d recommend coming here anytime!

If it was possible I would give pep boys 0 stars. Pep boys cost me thousands! I run an air conditioning and heating company. One of my service trucks had an issue with losing coolant. I took it to them because I thought the turn around would be quick and I could get my truck back on the road. They did their «TESTS» and came back with the radiator was leaking. I asked about my intuition about the coolant leaking in the engine which they replied «WE TESTED IT AND IT CHECKS OUT». I gave them the ok to change radiator and do an oil change (over $ 1,000). Got the truck back next day. The truck that never leaked oil before is now leaking oil and worse off still losing coolant. Took it back to have it checked and was told «WE TOPPED OFF OIL TO MUCH» (They can’t even do an oil change correctly). Told me to bring it back for coolant issue. Of course the motor overheated the next day and warped the heads and cracked the block. NEW ENGINE TIME!
So maybe that is in isolated incident yet my brother bought a Mazda Sport Wagon a few months later and took it to the same Pep Boys to have the brakes done. My brother receives a call from the technician that states we do not know how to put your brakes back together. mMy dad who is in a ASE mechanic had to go down to pep boys and show their technicians how to do a brake job on a car.
They wanted nothing to do with taking responsibility either time worst customer service and worst service I’ve ever dealt with.

Went here for an oil change and replace an air filter. Two and a half hours later they finish when they told me 30 – 45 minutes. Made me late for a dinner. Most employees here are lazy and rude. One girl in parts wouldn’t even help me find a simple part for my car. Lack of management is the issue here, once the on duty manager left the kids were in charge. Me and another customer waited as we watched them talk in the garages. Will not be taking my business here anymore, Kragen here i come.

This store is great! Always helpful and great prices. The parts manager even helped me change my headlight! Wow I didn’t expect that! I have never had that happen before, thank you!

I am giving them 2 stars because the assistant manager at least didn’t charge me the prorate charge on the battery, however, their service department needs to get with it. I originally purchased one of your 72 month batteries on 1÷6÷2011 from the Corona store, 12/​16/​2013 the battery died in the car and I had to have the vehicle towed home as it was too dead to jumpstart. I took the battery to the Corona store and told them the issue with the battery. They told me they had to charge it for an hour then test it before they would replace it. I insisted that I would not take the old battery back and after 30 minutes they said they would just replace it «as a customer service issue). I had already taken the battery to my regular shop and had the battery and my charging system checked. This cost me $ 45. 1÷19÷2014 I was having issues with the vehicle not starting. I had the vehicle jump started and took it to the Corona Store. They told me they needed the vehicle for about 4 hours as the battery is in a hard spot to reach (it is in the wheel well passenger side) to test it properly. They told me the battery was fine. 2÷2÷14 my vehicle wouldn’t start again and I could not jump start it again. I had the vehicle towed to Z performance (my regular shop) to see what was going on. They managed to jump start the vehicle and it worked fine, but they asked to keep it over night as I have the starting issues in the morning. 2÷3÷14 they called me and told me the battery was weak as the vehicle would not start without being jump started, at that time once it was running they checked the charging system and found that was ok. Z performance told me the first thing they had noticed was signs that the battery had been boiling over as they saw acid on the outside of the battery. I had them remove the battery and took it to the Corona store again. At the store I spoke with the assistant manager as she told me the store manager was off that day. I explained my situation regarding the battery and showed her where the acid had been leaking on the top. She took the battery, put it on their tester and said it tested fine, but she would prorate and replace it for me. I asked how there could be a charge when I had just replaced it the year before and paid a prorate charge (I used to work parts years ago and the warranty restarted when you replaced the battery as you paid for «the amount you had used». She told me the prorate charge would be from the original purchase date of the battery. She was nice and waived the prorate charge. I asked her about the $ 140 I had to pay to Z Performance for a diagnostic and to get the battery replaced. I feel that in good customer service you guys should have paid the $ 140 as had someone REALLY not just tested the battery but also looked at it visually on the 19^th of January they would have noticed the signs of boiling over. It seems like your store personnel rely too much on machines and not on common sense. what happened to old school tests like the specific gravity cell test? OR just doing a visual of the battery looking for signs of swelling or boiling over? Based on what I was told about your prorate policy, I am about to have no value in the battery, so if/​when it goes bad again, I will purchase one elsewhere and not step back into your store for anything.
Update, I emailed the corporate office who contacted the store and they did give me $ 70 toward the $ 140 I had to spend

Stay away if you are on a time schedule. They will take forever and say everyone came in with an appointment except you. Talked to others in lobby and no one I talked to had an appointment. Simple break inspection will take hours.

Second time back on different car because I didnt feel like doing rear brakes on my truck. They told me my front pads were split and very dangerous and I should replace them too. Well its been 3 weeks since truck just sits i bought pads elsewhere to do myself and the pads they said were split are still 75%. Pep boys service department will no doubt rip you off if you go there.

Who hired these idiots?
I call in two hours before closing to get my tire patched. The lady said it can be done. I get there ten minutes later. I wait in line for thirty minutes because the cashier for Auto and Tires is taking his sweet time looking for who paper while he chats with four other staff members who don’t even bother opening another register for people waiting in line.
I finally get to him and he tells me he can’t do it because they will be closing in an hour and a half and they still TWO cars that needs fixing.
Seriously?
It doesn’t take an hour and a half to patch a damn tire. It takes one person and fifteen minutes. I walk over to the shop and see a handful of guys standing around doing who knows what. These people are the definition of complacency. Whoever hired this group of people is a disappointment.
I don’t recommend.

My car needed major work. Timing chain, water pump Radiator. Got a very good price thanks to the Manager Misty honoring coupons. Matt is the BEST Tech around, getting a difficult and large job done ahead of schedule. To avoid waiting I never drop off or pick up my car on a Saturday. I come on a Tuesday or Wednesday at 10 am. I walk right up to the counter. Just plan ahead you Whiners.
I bring all my cars here and ALWAYS get great service at a fair price.

Made appt for 8 a. m online. For AC check up. Service manager already telling the people in front of me that it will be me all day to do anything with the car. online they stated free AC inspection, but when you get here it is $ 57 charge to inspect and they won’t know how long it will take to get the quote. I don’t mind paying for service but just don’t lie about it or hide it in the fine print. Asked about the free brake inspection but they won’t do it today, so busy… but they’ll do it, only if I have work done. What The Heck?! Saw three upset customers at this point, its only 830am. Too busy to care about your service experience. Tip. Expect to spend all day at shop and don’t believe on online prices, prepare yourself… One of the service poster states if you are not satisfied with their service they will refund your money… hmmmm. How do they stay in business? The good: Its nice and cool in the pepboy store.

So here’s what happened: around 345pm I haven’t got any updates, I called, and Kyle, a different guy than from the one I dealt with in the AM, told me they have not looked at the car yet, he’ll call back in about an hour. When I recieved my call around 530pm,. Kyle said it’s gonna cost about $ 1900 to fix a/​c unit: need to replace the condenser, evaporator, a/​c fan, etc. So Needless to say, I decide not to get any work done yet, wanted a second opinion. I arrived at PEPBOYs around 730pm. Kyle spent about a minute (that’s one minute, no exaggeration) and showed me some hand written scribble the tech made, and it wasn’t legible to me, basicly just a list of parts, four parts. And he rushed me to the cash register, charged me the fee, and gave me a actual typed up printout of the parts (like a dozen different things) and fees to replace them. It’s was a lot longer list than the scribble. Gave me the keys and he was gone. There was no explanation of exactly what the mechanic did. Did they just decide to list all the parts to replace the a/​c system? Did they even test if there was pressure in the system? Test for a leak? How about a show me or point out some of the parts that needed work done? $ 1900 is a lot of money, would like more than a total of two minutes to get over the shell shock and maybe a five minute discussion on the key things what the mechanic did and why it’s essential. Something… more. Such little regard they have for my time and my money.
All I can say about this Pepboy… Yuck. That’s right, YUCK! Absolutely disgusting customer service.
Next step: I was not happy with my experience or my service. How can I get my money back? I wonder if they will honor there promise, the one they have posted on the wall? More to come… maybe?

It is very difficult to find a bushiness that provides honest, fairly priced, quality auto care/​maintenance, and good customer service. This Pep Boys location fails in all of these areas. One of their employees, jorge is so simple minded and rude, I had to write a letter to their corporate offices. News flash to the people who work at this Pep Boys, You have a job because of the CUSTOMERS… Provide good service, be honest, and treat your customer with respect and you will prosper, if not, you will fail miserably. The high level management in this company really needs to take a hard look at this location and clean house before the weakening reputation of this company is damaged any further.

Nice to know… if you change your own oil, bring it here. They will take your old oil as long as you have it in containers. No charge. And you get your containers back.
