Coronado Hot Yoga

All teachers are amazing– lots of individual instruction– studio located across from Hotel Del Coronado… Times fit 2 morning and 2 afternoon classes… The heat is good but not too hot and instructors really watch the students and adjust as they see students need help. Very much a family atmosphere since the studio is smaller than others in SD and there is opportunity to share and get to know others. I recommend highly for visitors and regular yogis…

I heard about this place when the owner came into my work at express tire. We began talking while waiting for her car to finish and tried to convince me to come in and give yoga a shot. Keep in mind that I have never done yoga before and was not very excited to try. But she was so excited and looked so full of energy I figured why not. Heck I could bring my wife as a mother’s day gift. Boy am I glad I did. Not only do I feel better physically, mentally and, dare I say it, spiritually I feel lighter and much more happy. Although skeptical of yoga at first, the friendly and informative staff here made me a believer. I have already planned a regular schedule to make sure I continue to keep my shakras flowing freely and keep visiting these guys. Maybe I can get some more guys from my shop to visit and get yo yoga on!!!

I honestly don’t know where to begin.
I always recommend to arrive early in order to find your spot but of course, life happened!
I finally managed to make it to the studio a few minutes late. I stood outside weighing out my options when Karlie saw me & smiled brightly & let me in. In order to keep me from fumbling with my stuff she was kind enough to lay out a towel & mat of the studio’s own so I can immediately get into the class with ease.
Usually when I’m running late like that I can be flustered but her kindness & patience allowed me to just immediately focus on the moment. Her approach to Bikram was so kind & even if anyone needed to be corrected (myself included) she was gracious & kind unlike my last Bikram experience where I was being yelled at. (Note: I am referring to another unnamed studio)
And that was another thing, I was led to believe in bikram you’re «suppose to» be spoken to in «bikram nazi» manner; for the lack of a better term. But nope!!! I felt so great in this class that I will definitely pursue more classes with her as the instructor. Out of the handful of times I’ve done bikram this was the first time I felt a sense of relief upon leaving both physically & mentally. Thank you for offering me a wonderful morning, this was an experience I will not forget. Thank you so much!!!

Hands down my favorite studio of all time.
Every single teacher is beyond amazing with their knowledge of the sequences and of the human body. After class I alwAys feel transformed like a cyborg hatching from an egg into an ethereal being.
Also The new location is a half a block from beach and the car ride over the coronado bridge is always beyond amazing.
Ps Barbra, if you are reading this you will always be my #1.

Thank god Nado hot yoga has some really good teacher!!! the change & the move to the new place has me a bit bugged! I did not mind the old place not having showers. But now the parking is an issue & not only no showers… But no private restroom. Hopefully I will get use to the move!

Let me just start by saying I have been using Unilocal for many years, never have I felt the need to write a review for any location I have visited. Today has been the exception ! I had been looking for a hot yoga studio for many months prior to relocating to the San Diego area, I finally had found a hot yoga studio near me and was excited to join.
After 10 mins looking for a sign of this location, I finally walk into what seems to be the reception to the yoga studio, expecting to be greated by a friendly face; Instead I stand their and a women sticks hear head out from two double doors and tells me go outside. Outside? I’m so confused, I’ve never been talked too so condescending and crude manner before! Tells me she can’t talk to me, to come back another time? I’m sorry but if your running a business maybe you should hire some one to work in your reception area to be able to provide the most serene and positive experience. If you don’t want people walking into to your business then put a sign outside !!! And lock the doors! All she could say is I can’t talk to you come back some other time or wait outside until my class is over ??? I will end this with this, my money can go somewhere else, to a business where my money is actually appreciated ! So please do the same, there are so many business in San Diego that have pride and respect for their loyal customers. Take your time, money and loyalty somewhere else ! What a shame this place is in a great location with horrific staff! (hate to generalize but one person can damage a reputable business)

Update: You need to go to here. It’s been almost two years and I still love it. It’s a little community filled with love and support. I have heard horror stories of other yoga studios (too full, people are allowed to walk in late/​distracting!!, dirty, etc) and I have none of those experiences to share with you. Do yourself a favor and get the 2 month groupon if you’re lucky enough that it’s still available… the 20 days is too short to fall in love, trust me. Go as often as you can.
Regarding the teachers: they are all so great and offer different things so you can pick who to go to in order to meet your desires. That said, the legendary Lance Mann has taught here and there and let me tell you — if you are lucky to get into his class (they’re usually filled up by 45 minutes before class), you won’t regret it. Barbra is great, she will make sure you have a great foundation but also push yourself. Karlie and Sean are wonderful as well, fine tuning your practice. Mira is as experienced as you can find (except for Lance)…you just can’t go wrong here! (No, I don’t work for or receive any type of compensation from Nado Hot Yoga)

I got a Groupon deal for 20 days of classes and went for most of those days.
It was a small studio but I actually ended up enjoying how personable the classes were.
The teachers were all great and different, varying by personality – not teachings.
Barbra–
The most strict and critical teacher out of all of them. She was very efficient, and motivating.
Sean–
He had a much less assertive and strict vibe. He was very precise in postures and helped you do them correctly, more so than other teachers.
Mira–
She was very sweet, not strict. I only took a couple of her classes so I can’t say much else.
Vince (no longer there) —
He was my first teacher, and he was great. Very humorous.
Overall, I enjoyed all the teachers equally. They took the time to learn your names, fix your postures, give you great advice, etc. I liked this studio however, I do not think I’ll continue to do Bikram Hot Yoga because I’ve done a bit of research into its originator, and didn’t quite agree with what I’ve discovered. However, if you can get past some tidbits of details, this is a great workout, especially since you’re in a heated room. Expect to sweat… heavily yet feel great afterwards.

I love hot yoga, it’s one of my favorite ways to exercise BUT I’m also extremely picky about hot yoga studios! I loved the instructor and the class itself! Everyone was so welcoming and nice so the actual hot yoga class was wonderful. The ambiance though is another story. The room is really small which is typically fine but it gets really crammed really quickly. When you’re in a 100 degree room, the LAST thing you want is someone right next to you sweating on you (literally, someone was right next to me touching and sweating ON me which ruined the entire class). There was a minimal amount of ventilation in the room so it smelled awful and the studio was carpeted! A carpeted hot yoga studio??? That’s disgusting! Overall I loved the instructors and the class was wonderful but I was so grossed out by the ambiance that I won’t be back.

This place was alright. Not my favorite space to practice. It was a good workout, the instructor was really nice, and a lot of people would like it, but the studio just wasn’t for me. I view spaces a lot like people view churches. You have to shop around until one is right for you.

This studio is fantastic! I have had classes with Vince, Mira, and Barbara. They all have a wonderful energy. I enjoy pushing myself through the postures, I enjoy the whole class, and I feel great afterward. I definitely recommend this spot!

Karlie and her staff are all amazing people and fellow students are very friendly as well! Each teacher will give you direction on how to make corrections when needed, as safety is their first concern. Doing the postures by listening to the teacher’s instruction, is truly key. I have had classes with Karlie, Vince, Mira and Barbra, and they are all wonderful teachers. I must say that Barbra is my favorite… no, really, I MUST say that or else she will make me stay after class and torture me for ANOTHER 90 minutes. This yoga makes you feel so great physically, emotionally, and mentally, so please give it a try… you will be happy you did!

I have enjoyed going to Coronado Hot Yoga. Great instructors but during my last class, I noticed how bad their carpet stinks. It was almost impossible to focus. Very distracting. Hope they’ll replace it asap or even better get hardwood flooring

Mira was an amazing instructor. Her positive energy and spirit were contagious and the Bikram torture chamber was enjoyable with her there. Studio felt clean but no showers. Arrive 20 – 30 minutes early the studio is small and if you don’t check in and they are full you don’t get to go in and sweat your life away.

I like this place it’s small it’s clean and it’s friendly the only thing I don’t like about this place is one instructor named Barbara I don’t like her because she puts attitude into the class I don’t mind being corrected in my postures on the contrary I like that because I want to do them correctlyI just don’t need that negative energy coming from her when I am paying to receive positive energy

First time here? They offer a great deal on Groupon, 20 days for $ 20 or unlimited 2 months for $ 99. In the land of Bikram Yoga, that is a great deal to grab.
I’ve only been in SD for about 6 months and originally started practicing at Bikram La Jolla. I recently discovered Coronado and happy I did.
I usually attend the weekday 6:30pm class, which typically gets full. The studio is smaller than most and cannot hold more than 20 people, so you do want to arrive 15 min early to get a spot. Temperature is not too hot/​humid and studio is really clean with no gross smell that a lot of places acquire from poor maintenance.
I have had 3 different instructors so far, all very different, but all very great. I just had Barbara last night and she reminds me of instructors up at Headquarters; very to the point and traditional, which I love. Vince is also great and just a kind soul. You can achieve a great meditation in his class and really have a chance to clear your mind. If you are a beginner, I would recommend his class. He is informative and patient which is crucial when you are first starting.
If you live downtown, the studio is across the street from the ferry drop which makes is very easy to get to; there is also plenty of street parking.
The only negative about the space, is the changing/​bathroom situation. There are no showers, but it is not the end of the world.
I would highly recommend dropping in if visiting or looking for something new!

The think I like most, is the heat. It is a clean, dry heat that allows sweat to cool you down. Too much humidity is dangerous.
The people are nice, very focused but all different levels, some new, some veterans all welcome.
This is a great place to start doing yoga or keep doing it
Bikram Yoga has helped me so much in staying healthy and detoxing by sweat
Have fun there — and drink lots of water :-)

I found this place by purchasing a groupon, 20 $ for 20 days I can’t say I made it all twenty days but I did make it enough to realize that this place is changing my life, slowly but surely. It’s small but I like that I think the instructors can keep a closer eye on students to help make any necessary corrections.
This place is very military friendly which I have a deep appreciation for since my husband is military and I am prior military. I recently started a year contract and couldn’t be happier, I have never felt better, I have battled and suffered from long term clinical depression and post traumatic stress disorder and I used to believe medication was the only way to find any peace, but this class has definitely changed that for me. This class has improved my confidence, my self esteem, my body, my mood the list can go on and I’ve only attended maybe 15 classes. I’m a yogi for life.
The last part of my review I just want to say to those who have written such ignorant reviews regarding Barbara clearly don’t have an appreciation for hard work and discipline, she Is honest and and an incredible teacher she is so inspiring to me, besides the reason to show my body and mind inside and out some love, Barbara is the reason I will continue to go back. I couldn’t be happier I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried this!!!

I’ve been coming here for months and figured that it was time to write my review. I have been practicing yoga on and off for since 2010, and I first found out about this place by purchasing their groupon. I remember feeling uncertain when I first arrived because it’s a fairly small studio (I normally like to hide towards the back of the class), after a couple of classes… I have grown to love practicing yoga towards the front of the class.
I have seen a huge improvement in my practice since I have attended this yoga studio. I love the attentiveness from all of the instructors, but feel that I have to share my thoughts on Barbara. First off, I love her style. She is direct, and straight to the point. There are days in which I come in and want to take it easy… One of my favorite comments she would say is «Don’t be lazy,» because it reminds me that I should practice with «precision and intensity.» I like all of her anecdotes and find her hilarious. Another one of my favorite lines that I would hear her say is about not being overly dramatic. I have learned a lot about myself through practicing bikram and I credit a lot of it to this studio.
Lastly, the pricing for this studio is much more affordable compared to other studios. If you do their monthly deals, you are guaranteed to pay under 100 $ per month.

It does not smell like a Bikram studio — that was enough to get me to purchase an annual membership. The studio is tiny but clean, welcoming and convenient. However, the physical space is not what makes a yoga studio; the instructors are the key factor. Coronado Hot Yoga has a wonderful mix of instructors, all of whom have helped to strengthen and grow my practice. I have learned a great deal from Vince, Eric and Mira but Barbara is my absolute favorite. I practice Bikram rather than any other type of yoga because of its intensity and precision. Barbara embodies these qualities. She will intuitively find your edge and push you to it. During her high energy classes she has guided me to epiphanies, provided micro-​corrections, told me to stop being lazy and overall has improved my practice beyond measure.
All of the CHY instructors are knowledgeable, technically sound and truly compassionate.
