I’m fairly new to the area and have been looking for a salon. I had beautiful light blonde hair, but decided that I wanted to go dark and did it myself at home. I hated it, so after a week of dealing with dark hair I decided that I wanted to be blonde again (or as close as possible). I called the salon and made an appointment for the same day with Valentino. He did an amazing job! My highlights came out amazing. Since i just colored my hair dark i didn’t expect such light, even high lights with out a toner. In the past I’ve always needed a toner, so I was surprised to see that my hair lifted as much as it did, and even. I also got a cut and blow dry that came out great. I’m very happy with my hair now and will be going back to Valentino as long as I’m living here.

Went in and saw Shelly today for hair extensions. She did an amazing job. For those of you with thin hair Like myself I highly recommend getting in to see her for a consultation and it’s even free.

I cannot express my gratitude towards Shelly! She is the best ever! Around NYE I asked on my FB for a stylist that is good at hair extensions and they recommended her to me, I’m so glad they did. I texted her literally two days before NYE and even though she is very busy she found time to take care of me. I loved my extensions! She made me feel so hot (: well 7 months later I tried another type of extensions with someone else and i regret it every night ever since. But anyways two days after these new extensions by this other girl (Jamie, at Glo Salon) and after my first wash my hair looked horrible! It looked like I payed $ 20 not $ 700, I showed Shelly a picture after Jamie that did them told me she couldn’t do anything for the next three days and Shelly told me to come in and she will try to fix it. Again, Shelly was amazing, i went in right away she trimmed and dyed it so it all blended in how they’re supposed to!!! She saved my life! I love Shelly and hope to keep seeing her for a very long time!

I really love this place and I get my nails done there but it gets really noisy but there is one lady who is really loud. She cuts hair and her name is Marcia. It would be perfect if she could just talk quieter like everyone else does. I am sure she is a nice person but she needs to be a little more respectful to others. :(

I had such a wonderful experience with Shannon today! It was my first time ever getting layers in my hair and I was pretty nervous about it. She did exactly what I asked for, was very talkative and sweet, and gave me very helpful tips about haircare. After negative experiences at Domani, this will be my go-​to hair salon from now on. Very nice, open environment, friendly staff, and a wonderful experience. Thank you Shannon!

Vanessa is my go to girl. I completely trust her with my hair, and she ALWAYS does an amazing job. I’ve got a ton of thick hair and it can be a lot to take on… poor thing gets an arm workout with me! She’s so sweet and knows what she’s doing. I never worry about her cutting off too much, which has happened in the past at other salons. I live in Del Mar and will still drive to Coronado to see her!
The salon is super cute and everyone is friendly. Amazing staff and customer service every time I visit. I would highly recommend Roses! Vanessa, thank you so much for being the reason behind the many compliments I get about my gorgeous hair. :)

Kara has been my stylist since she relocated to San Diego. I recently got a Brazilian Blowout & loved it! With San Diego weather my hair gets super frizzy & unmanageable, but now is shiny & smooth but still able to get the volume. Definitely will be visiting Kara again soon!

I absolutely love Kara! She is wonderful :) She listened to what I wanted, and went to work lightening my hair. I’ve already recommended her to a few of my girlfriends.

Coronado native here. Searching for a hairstylist for a while now. I was referred to Kara by one of her clients and have been a client of hers since. Very good at her craft and fun to be around! Highly recommend!

I’m visiting from Florida and stopped by for a trim and Kara was great! Excellent service and I’m happy with my haircut.

A few months ago I got a pixie cut from a great salon in Arizona, but it had since grown out so I went to Roses the Salon to get «a trim… take the bulk out of the back». Instead Vanessa misunderstood what I wanted, and hacked my hair to look like a man’s cut — she ended up giving me a modified high ‘n tight. I told her I didn’t want it to look like a dude’s, and just trim it. I even showed her pictures from my initial cut in Arizona. I’m afraid of what it would have looked like if I hadn’t told her to stop cutting & leave the rest of the length. I’m so upset with the less than 1″ on my left side, the stair-​step failed blend, the lack of a «sleek & sexy» cut, and the lack of versatility with what I now have. LUCKILY for me my hair grows quickly.
They were WONDERFUL though when I called the next day to let them know how upset I was with my haircut. I spoke with Tracie, who offered me a deep conditioning to make up for my disppoinment. When I went in to see Tracie later that day she worked with me to clean up the blending. As my hair grew out she kept up with my trims to help everything grow evenly into a nice feminine cut. TRACIE IS FABULOUS! Just the experience I was expecting at first, and now I won’t trust anyone else with cutting my short hair. She knows how to take her time with consultation to fully understand what I want — giving me the edgy, feminine, pixie cut that I love!

I desperately needed my hair done and found roses the salon on Unilocal!
I am the type of woman who tends to have hair issues. I am never satisfied unless it is long and unruly!
Recently, I combed out dreadlocks and my hair is quite damaged. I knew I needed it cut so that new growth could occur. I was terrified that my hair would be too short and I wouldn’t like it.
I had a consultation with Marci, the owner. She walked me through the process and calmed my nerves. I threw a curve ball and decided not only did I want my hair cut, but I wanted my almost black hair… purple!
She didn’t flinch! She smiled and said that would be totally doable and she would use amazing products to build up my hair while we were taking the color down.
I scheduled my appointment and drove across the bridge to lovely Coronado. Marci and a couple of other stylists: Vanessa and Cara, got to work on lightening my hair.
After lightened, the purple was added and the cut occurred!!! I loved how she kept it as long as possible and it looks healthier than it has ever looked!!!
I was so happy with my hair that I took business cards to put in my coffee shop!
Roses the salon was a brilliant find and I will definitely come back!!!

I just had my hair cut and highlighted by Jana Monroe at Roses salon, and I could not be happier. I’m always hesitant when I go to someone new, but I am thrilled to have found Jana.
She is super nice, very calm, talkative but not overly, and worked fast (I had an appt after that I couldn’t be late) without ever feeling rushed. The cut and color are great!
The last time I moved, it took me several years to find someone I liked, so finding someone on the first try was a dream come true. Thanks, Jana!

It had been years since I’d been to Rose’s. I’m sorry, ladies, I won’t leave you again. It is in an old bungalow house in Coronado, and depending on the service you want, you wander through the warren which used to be the rooms of the house. It’s delightful. The ladies are kind. I was 20 minutes late. If she’d sent me away, I would not have blamed her. Instead, no problem, ma’am. This way please. The massage part of the pedicure is so good it’s hallucinogenic. Go. Overtip. Places like this need to be encouraged.

I went here the day before 4^th of July. I called that morning and was happy to hear that they were able to get me in that day (I was lucky, they had a 1100 appt). My stylist was Jaime who was very sweet and listened to what I wanted. She gave me a very good scalp massage with the shampoo and I am happy with my cut. I will be back! Prices are reasonable, my cut and wash was $ 45 and I have long hair.
The salon is not small like other reviewers said (I think they are referring to Sanctuary Salon and Day Spa down the street). This place had well over 10 hair stylists and my gal had a private room in the back. It looks small from the street but once you go in it’s super trendy and opens up to a whole other room in the back. I liked it because everyone seems young and cool. My experience with the other place I mentioned down the street, they seemed kinda snobby. The vibe here was way better!

I received a massage and facial from Monica. She did an amazing job with making me feel comfortable and relaxed. I’ve never been a big fan of getting practically naked and have a stranger rub me down but Monica put me at ease from the second I met her. She took time to explain her technique and asked me questions so that my experience with her was tailored to my needs. From start to finish I felt so relaxed and didn’t want the session to end. The product she used on my face was fantastic and my skin looks and feels fresh and young again. She also shaped and dyed my eyebrows. It was so quick and nearly painless and I feel so pretty! The music, lighting and mood was just perfect too and added to the whole experience with Monica.

I have in my past had the most amazing experiences here at Rose’s Salon. Today, the experience my daughter received from the stylist was not only unbelievably rude and inappropriate, it was UNPROFESSIONAL and I will not tolerate anyone speaking to my daughter loose tongued in a professional setting. Yes, my daughter was late to this appointment there is no excuse for that (20) minutes but I have ALSO waited many times for this stylist to take me when SHE was running late. I cannot fathom the thought of an adult telling a 15 year old that «I will not keep you as a client» if you are going to be late IN THE PRESENCE OF OTHER CLIENTS/​EMPLOYEES. This will definitely be a learning experience for everyone.

I enjoyed Roses. They are the only reasonably-​priced nail salon in Coronado. Approximately, 2 days before my wedding, I called for an appointment. Most places in Coronado were charging just as much as my hotel, and none of them did gel or nail wraps (for a broken nail), so it wasn’t really worth it for me to leave … until I called Roses. They were able to give me a later appointment that day. They charged a reasonable price. they were able to do gel and a nail wrap for my broken nail. Also, they do not charge extra for french manicures.
It’s a no frills salon, so don’t expect fancy spa chairs. It’s just a cheap little bucket of water and an uncomfortable office chair. For the price, it was fine. If I need a massage that badly, I can go somewhere else… or make a separate appointment at Roses. They have a masseuse. They also do hair and makeup in addition to nails.
P. S. My nails still look great nearly 3 weeks later. They lasted all the way through my wedding and honeymoon, which is awesome!
