My bf and I came here after having lunch upstairs at sheerwater. We were greeted by a bubbly and friendly worker. My bf found a zipped down jacket and a rash guard shirt made my toes on the nose. As I found him a quiksilver button down shirt in the clearance. Prices weren’t that bad. The total was about $ 180 for the 3 items. Its a cute boutique that sells brands like: tommy Bahama, quiksilver, toes on the nose and sperry. (I forgot the name of the friendly and bubbly lady, but she was blonde and wearing a black dress) Thanks for the amazing service! They also validate parking if you parked at the Del Coronado!

Located under the lobby of the Hotel Del and tucked away from the main restaurants are a series of shops that cater to both guests and locals. One of my favorites is Set Sail. The shop is not large, with a rectangular dinging type table in the entrance, containing an assortment of t-shirts, shorts and sports wear. Along the walls are sections for aloha and dress shirts, resort wear and the requisite hoodies and sweatshirts. The target audience is hotel guests and locals who may still surf but have some trust fund dollars to spend. Prints depicting Polynesia, tropical scenes and nearby locales are framed in bamboo or dark wood, evocative of the tropics. A single dressing room is in the back and a chair is next to it, so your paramour can scrutinize your fashion choices. There is display section for shoes but the area to try them on is very cramped. What sets this store apart is that it is a throwback to a time when men’s store carried more than one line. Instead of visiting Tommy Bahama, Oakley, Toes On The Nose and Quicksilver retail outlets individually, you can get a well thought collection of selections here. I’ve also found items in those aforementioned lines here that I could not find in the branded retail stores, as the wholesalers sell different selections to not compete with what they have in their own stores. Oddly, for a men’s clothing store, I’ve also picked up a few of the store furnishing to use at home and some of the Orange & Park prints, too. Whomever is is the buyer for the store is doing a great job. As always, there is room for improvement. The lighting could be turned down a notch, the music changed to something a bit more surf or Hawai’ian and the lines carried widened — Reyn Spooner, Rix and Tori Richard would be naturals to carry here. Finally, the staff here is great but switches/turns over a lot. It would be helpful to find a way to retain some of the better staff members. Whether you are at The Del for lunch or a vacationing for a week(lucky you), check out Set Sail and relax on the close by waves.

I first visited Set Sail in the Shops at the Del back in 2009. Immediately, I was drawn to their extensive collection of Toes on the Nose casual wear. Service has consistently been outstanding at the shop, since I first visited it. When I attended an event at the Hotel Del in 2010, I stopped briefly at Set Sail to see if there were any clothes that I liked, but I told the shopkeeper that I didn’t have time to purchase anything immediately because I was at lunch. The shopkeeper let me look around without pressuring me, and even checked on a few sizes for me. When I walked by the shop a couple of days later, she recognized me & asked if I had any additional questions about the merchandise, again without applying any pressure. Ultimately, I ended up buying all of the merchandise I’d looked at. I visited the store again yesterday, and found another Toes on the Nose t-shirt that I liked. Again, the service was superb. The only reason I’m not providing Set Sail with a full 5-star rating is because I wear men’s medium-sized t-shirts, but the store has been carrying more and more large sizes over the past few years(sizes XL or larger). At times, I would have bought more items if my size had been available. Overall, great casual merchandise & excellent service!
