Quality Inn & Suites on the Beach

This hotel is being run on a shoestring. I wonder if the normal crowd is composed of teenagers on spring break. Too little staff to maintain the place, feral cats peeing on doors, and waffle batter better known as water… The manager tried to be helpful, but there’s just too much going wrong for her to manage a good stay for her guests. Don’t be sucked in by the Quality Inn name. I stayed at 3 QI during my recent trip to TX, and the other two were vastly better — so different, you’d think it was a different hotel chain. We stayed there only because it had patio access directly to the beach. If you are choosing it because you have a pet, FYI, there are lots of pet friendly places in Corpus — call and ask before settling. Also, I cannot recommend North Beach Corpus Christi: the whole area is seedy and run down. Stay in the other areas in CC to be safe.

My favorite place to stay. You open the door and the beach is right there, they have a pool with lights and a jacuzzi and the beds are super comfy:) the only bad thing about the place is the housekeepers. They are very rude, but the rooms are clean.

I have never checked out of a hotel so quickly! I have stayed at many ChoiceHotels and have ever seen one like this. My door handle was broken to both doors, bathroom was dirty, bedding was stained. OMG. The girl at the front desk was nice and didn’t charge me. I have a feeling this wasn’t her first time. Place really really needs to be cleaned and updated.

Good place in a great location. Easy walk to the Lexington museum, the Texas State Aquarium and other sights. Large pool. Breakfast was good and well maintained.
Right on the beach. Great views of the bay, the Lexington and the bay bridge which lights up at night. You can also see a lot of big freighters coming into and out of the channel.

Affordable $ 99– $ 169/​night .BEAUTIFUL VIEW EVEN FROM POOL. Outdoor shower ! Suites are a bit more with Beach view and worth it. It is directly on the beach next to the USS plus all the gift shops and places to eat. We have stayed there about 6 – 7 different times and this last time (1wk ago) was the worst experience. We were lied to over the ph when they told us they where booked. We stopped anyway and they had 5 rooms smdh .I guess they say that so the late people pay a higher price when no one else has vacancy. We tried to reserve 2 weeks ahead and were told we couldn’t do that either. Not sure what people mean by saying its over priced. To be right on the beach I think its dirt cheap to stay. Our room was not so clean, sheets were sandy and so were the floors. AC not cooling too good but didn’t complain about it. I was too tired so I dealt with it. Great Breakfast, helpful staff. Could use remodeling… but overall not too bad. I would stay there again.

I would put no stars if I could. Maybe 1 for the front desk because one lady was very nice. We purchased a non-​smoking room and was placed in smoking rooms! The one we ended up in was the one that smelled of cigarette smoke the least! Stains on the bathroom walls made going in to shower a little nerve wracking. The photos on their website do not portray the true state of disrepair that this building exists in.

The worst «Hotel» I have EVER seen! Extremely dirty and poor service. I will never stay here again. I guess they have the advantage of being right on the beach, and people don’t have a choice, but they need to clean it up terribly.

When we arrived, there was red sticky candy ALL over the blanket, and the bed was made… I know they saw that. Bathroom floor was sticky. Hotel smelled moldy, and the air conditioning unit only worked half the time. The only positive thing here is that it’s right on the beach, which was also filthy, by the way. Horrible!!!

The best part of this hotel was it’s location right on the beach! It also has a nice pool. Free morning breakfast isn’t bad. But I’m not sure that the rooms actually get cleaned between guests. The bed was clean, thank God, but the bathroom floor had not even been swept and for sure not mopped! If you are just there to sleep and spend most of your time out of the room, it’s probably ok. I definitely think the price outweighed the quality by far! Staff were friendly however. It could be really nice with some work put into the rooms and housekeepers who knew how to clean!

Pros: View, close proximity to the water, nice easy walk to the Lexington, Aquarium, and shops and restaurants
Cons: Dirty. Smells dirty (dog urine smell in certain part of the room — ick!), even the countertops were dusty and dirty on the sides of the microwave as if they hadn’t been wiped down in a few weeks, the sheets felt dirty, hated drying my face on the towels they were «washed» but felt/​smelled like they were washed without soap in the machine. There’s an a/​c vent in the ceiling of the bathroom that was hanging off and kept dripping (luckily into the toilet right below it!), the bathroom floor looked like it was swept but it didn’t feel clean so prob not actually mopped (when you got out of the shower the floor felt sticky — ick again!). Carpet was nasty and crunchy feeling. Stains on the comforters — correction not STAINS, they were spots that would have easily come out if they were WASHED. Staff was super unprofessional, and the people staying there was a shady crowd. (Parties every night with babies screaming and people yelling at them to SHUT UP, people coming inside the gate on our patio and climbing up onto the balcony above ours, people trying our doorknob in the wee hours. We called the front desk and they said they would notify local police to come out and settle everyone down, but of course nobody ever showed up. We weren’t scared, just aggravated at that point. Hot tub was full of people sitting in it and cussing and talking about unsavory subjects even when you walked by with your kids, never lowered their voices or thought twice about it – later we were going to use the hot tub but it was like cloudy old water that looked disgusting. Not the best part of town, but it was our first trip to Corpus and the pics on the site looked great. All in all, not the end of the world, but would I stay there again? Not if it was the last hotel in Corpus.
p. s. We paid $ 250 per night for a suite, so it wasn’t even like it was that cheap.

Perfect for a 21 year old on spring break but sub par for anyone else. The location is great and the pool is nice but that’s pretty much it. The rooms were not very clean and had mosquitoes. The worst part is that the air conditioning units are so loud that it was hard to sleep.

My rating will depend in which room I want to remember. We checked in to a beach front room first — rm 161. At first glance we were pretty impressed. Huge two suite room plenty of space. Also conveniently within a few steps to the beach. However within 10 minutes into this room we found plenty if flaws: was if hair left on the tub wall, dark room with lack of lighting and most of all: not one, not two but THREE huge waterbugs in which two were mating. We were outta there so fast it took us two mins to pack up. The evening desk clerk was nice with no questions asked moved is to a smaller room.
Now for this room it was 100% cleaner. We had a little patio overlooking the beach. This is rm 105. Very close for the pool gate. The only issue we had was that the toilet clogged up on us eww and we unclogged it ourselves with the plunger left outside of our door. Their maintenance guy leaves for the day and is shared by next door radisson hotel was what was told to us. Shrug. Complimentary breakfast was so so. Didnt expect too much after the first room. The pool was pretty big and prob the best part of their hotel. Sorry we won’t be returning :(

We stayed this past weekend. Great customer service and friendly staff. Clean, rooms and SUPER close to Lexington and Aquarium. Would stay here again.

I had a pleasant stay in room 221. Great location within walking distance to fajitaville n close to the USS Lexington and Aquarium. Front desk guy knew the area well n was helpful. Loved the weather n view of the Harbor Bridge!!! Deck recommend to friends and family.

Great location, but not the cleanest hotel in the world. Older place, my room wasn’t ready when I checked in t 5:00pm. The knocked off $ 30 per night for the three nights I was staying. Worth the 30 minute wait!

I had travelled to Corpus Christi with the idea of staying close to the Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium. The beach is really nice in this location, not too choopy at all. I had read reviews of several hotels nearby and none were very good. I should have known better. They really need a better hotel in this area of Corpus… The hotel looked very run down and the carpet and floors were very dirty. Our room had a good A/​C but that’s about it. We had black ants in the room, on the table and in the bathroom. Also had a roach in the bathroom one night. Floors were dirty. The hotel pool had way too much chlorine and was full of trash and Lord knows what else… We will NOT be staying in this area of Corpus again and, if we do, we will rent a condo. I’ve stayed in bad hotels but this one was one of the worst.

Tried to get a room here but no one answered!

We booked a week before the 4^th of July with no problem. The rate for the room was good, considering how close it is to the beach. All you have to do is walk tithe back of the hotel and you are on the sand. The room was decent. Which is fine as we are in there only to sleep and shower. Staff were nice and were present to ensure only guests parked in their parking lot and swam in the pool. We will definitely be staying here again.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. This is the last time I book a hotel without checking Unilocal first.
The first room, #133, had a leaking air conditioner. The entire corner of the room around the air conditioner had wet carpet — not damp, not soggy, but saturated for at least four feet around the air conditioner. We could hear and see the water dripping.
After complaining we were moved to room #245. The wall paint was peeling; the bathroom was filthy and plastic chipping from the shower; the shower leaked and electrical sockets were hanging from the walls. There was a puddle of water around the toilet after we took our showers.
Since we had driven for ten hours and it was almost midnight we stayed in the second room. We were travelling with our small dog that was included when I made the reservation. I had a bowl of dry dog food by the side of the bed. I was awakened by a crunching sound in the food dish. Since my dog was asleep next to the bed I knew he wasn’t making the noise. After several minutes of trying to see where the noise was coming from I turned on the light. There was a two inch long cockroach crawling around in the dish eating the dog food. After taking several photos my fiancé caught the cockroach and flushed him down the toilet.
Needless to say I did not get any further sleep that night. At checkout the only thing the hotel would do is take $ 50 off our reservation. I find this appalling. The hotel was filthy; we were changed into a room worse than the original and got no sleep. The hotel advertises breakfast, but after seeing the size of the pests that the hotel keeps there was no way we were trying the food. If they have bugs that large in the hotel rooms there must be bugs and rodents in their food supply.

I only stay at a hotel about once a year, so was highly disappointed that this stay was so terrible. First off, when we first got our room the safe was broke, the phone did not work, and there was days (if not weeks!) old food in the mini fridge. In the middle of the night the air conditioner stopped working. So we had to repack everything and move to another room with working air conditioning.
The next evening the people in the room next to us, the next room over from them, and the two rooms below us (they were all together) were drinking heavily and one of them came into our room after my husband. My husband got him out of the room and called the front desk and asked for security. After waiting for 15 – 20 minutes with the drunk guy still hanging around outside our door (and this guy was so drunk he had urinated all over himself) and still no security, my husband got him away from our door and went to the front desk. The front desk person said that she had not written down his name or room number and forgot where to send security! And then even after the security guard got the drunk people back to their room they were still bothering other guests and would not stay there. This hotel obviously cares more about getting their room rate than to guarantee the safety of their guests.
Hotel needs to talk to their staff about guest complaints and what to do if something like this happens. I wanted to call the police but we tried to let the hotel take care of the problem. There needs to be a hotel policy about what to do when they have drunk guests bothering other guests.
