ABC Rent A Car

I used to be a regular customer here (I have been renting vans from them for 5+ years) but slowly over time the customer service has gotten worse, especially when you use their sister company Dollar Rent a Car in Anaheim. (Inside a hotel near Disneyland)
The guy I used to work with was always so great, don’t remember his name but he was awesome. I would call and mention that I was with my company (we rent a lot of 15 passenger vans for trips) and he would get me whatever I needed when I needed it. Then one day I needed to pick up the rental on a Sunday which is when their Costa Mesa location is closed so they directed me to their sister company in Anaheim — that is where everything went down hill.
I arrived to pick up my rental and the lady — Sally (very rude), told me I needed my insurance card. I rent using my company so I don’t carry their insurance cards on hand and when I made the reservation I was never instructed that I would need to bring this. And from my previous rentals I had never had to show my insurance, I would either pay for the insurance they offered or decline it. Also I have to mention I was renting on a Sunday morning so of course my office was not open for me to get said insurance information. It made for a very stressful beginning to my trip.
That was the last time I used them and hoped to never need to work with their Anaheim office again, today I went to make a rental reservation and called the Costa Mesa office who told me the guy who rents the 15 passengers is working at their other office so I needed to call them. I knew right away I was connected to their Anaheim office as soon as the guy started telling me that I would have to put a deposit on my card (in the past it was a 72 hour cancellation policy) and that the rental price for a 5 day vs. a 7 day was the same. I had, had enough!
I just have to end this with saying they have lost my business and I will be taking my van rentals to someone else, I am done going through the ringer with this company. And I feel really bad for the original guy I used to work with, he was awesome!

Dishonesty added $ 50.00 to our bill.
We picked up our RV from Cruise America here. Everything worked fine. They want it returned clean, so I spent hours cleaning the rig — even though I noticed that the dishes were not clean when I rented it (stuck cereal inside the bowls) and the floor had not been mopped in a long, long time, as evidenced by the black water in my bucket. It was immaculate inside and out — we returned it MUCH cleaner than we picked it up.
And yet when my husband returned it, they charged us $ 50.00 for cleaning. My husband asked the counter guy to show us where it was dirty, and he COULD NOT. I think this is an ongoing scam they have to charge $ 50.00 extra. It’s a shame because the RV was nice but I can’t trust a business who routinely adds a $ 50 to your bill at the end.

Juan Rocks! Always takes care of us. Great customer service! Definitely recommended! Clean trucks and always available when I need them! Love it there and that’s our spot!

Rented a truck from Penske in Santa Ana and transferred the reservation to ABC as their location was closer for me. When I arrived I found out that the reservation had been botched. I lost it on poor Juan who was working this day. I’m surprised that he didn’t ask me to get off his property based on the way I was acting. Within a few minutes Juan had presented a solution that had us on our way and satisfied. The truck was great and the service was exceptional! Juan was cool as a cucumber while I was screaming like a madman at him and his operation. Thank you Juan for keeping your composure and going above and beyond to satisfy an unnecessarily irate customer. I highly recommend using ABC and I recommend you ask for Juan.

Rented a 30 ft RV from Cruise America. Picked up from ABC Rent A Car. Pick up was easy. Juan was very helpful, professional, and throughout in his orientation of the RV especially for a 1^st time RV renter. Return was easy and Juan was again very helpful. I would use ABC Rent A Car for my car, truck, van, or RV rental needs in the future. Juan exemplies excellent customer service.

So Unilocal deleted my review and guessing this company had made a compliant. Well I am now being more detailed. This review is for the Cruise America part of the rental process that is done by this company ABC Rent A Car. This place is horrendous… rude and not helpful what so ever. For a company that is working for another company I would expect better service but clearly since Cruise America was so bad I can see why they don’t check their service providers at all. I don’t know how the rental car process is… this is only for their partnership with the Cruise America company and renting RVs.
For the price you are paying to rent you would expect better overall service from both the parent company and the local dealer. I have to say I will never rent from Cruise America EVER AGAIN. The front end part of picking and choosing an RV is awesome. The back end part if you have issues HORRENDOUS and mine was so little. But when I returned the RV it was compliants upon compliants from others. Mine was very simple… we had a campsite with no hook ups. The front end customer service told me no worries our campers come fully loaded that can last up to 2 days without hook ups. So when I pick up the camper the tour was very short… and forgot to ask about if everything was hooked up. Well the gas was only a quarter full so had to go fill up the tank which cost me close to $ 100 right there. When we got to the campsite… we found out soon the fresh water tank wasn’t filled. Their was no hose to fill it either. I called the customer service line. The first person was nice and said a specialist will call me back. The specialist was horrendous, rude and I was about to reach over the phone and kick his butt. He basically said well it is up to the local dealer if they want to fill the tank up! Like WHAT. Then he said you can fill the tank yourself… I SAID HOW… I DON“T HAVE A HOSE… he said. what am I supposed to do? I gave up after going back and forth. For the money we spent we had to conserve the limited water… Screw this company and their so called specialist that call you back. RUDE SOBs.

Picked up a motor home from here for a 5 day trip. The staff was very friendly and the vehicle was clean. When I returned it, they took care of me. The manager was friendly and even gave me an extra day because I was to bring it back on Christmas. Because they were closed, he gave me an extra day! Love this place!

Best RV deal in America. Easy, fast and friendly. Will use again. RV was clean good condition. Drop off took 5 mins. Pickup took 10 mins.

I am updating this review based on Juan“a customer service at ABC. He did all he could to make things right with us. He explained how the business is run through Cruise America, and I am aware now that we really can’t give ABC a poor review if the previous renters didn’t let them know about the many issues the vehicle had.
Juan reimbursed us for our troubles in a fair way. We would use ABC again if the RV were newer and had less miles– because we can rest assured that if there are issues they will be fairly handled by ABC.

Carlos is the man. Rented a big Penske truck here and got a fantastic rate and great service. I had issues with the truck more than once while driving cross country, but that is a reflection on Penske, not Carlos or ABC. Couldn’t be happier with my experience there.

hey if you want to get ripped off this is the place for you, we rented an r.v. did our walk around things looked good and when i check it in we did a walk through again and he said it look good but when i looked at my charge card the next day they charged me $ 108.00 cleaning fee don’t you think if he saw something he would have said something? like that’s not clean and let me clean it up !!! but it was super clean !! just a way to ding you and hope you don’t check your account. plus his attitude !! he must be family of the owner !! he would last ½ day in my company. if you like to gamble go to vagas.

My friends & I were going to mammoth for a ski trip but didn’t want to drive in multiple cars & decided to rent a van. So we got a 12 seater van from ABC & we all packed in. It was an awesome idea as we had so much fun. Overall it was a great vacation, rental cost including all insurances was very reasonable.
The staff was very friendly & had the van ready to go when we got there for pick up.

I deal directly with the ABC staff, call ahead, and I have never had an issue with picking up a truck early. The trucks are always clean in the cab and in the truck bed, and I have never had any mechanical issues with any truck we have rented. The staff has been kind & courteous to me, even letting me choose which of their 26′ trucks has the best lift to efficiently move our equipment. In reading the other reviews, I would say the only problems seem to happen when people try to use third party sites to book. Just deal directly with ABC. =)

I called ABC rent a car after i was involved in car accident and spoke to David, he is the owner and about my situation and 1 hour later they delivered a nice 2012 Toyota Camry to my door step!
They work with my insurance co for the payment arrangement and just made everything so easy.
I really was impressed with their services and cleanness of the car! also how easy they made the whole transaction
Oh by the way they have a great selection of RV, 15 passenger Van and a whole line of Penske’s truck as well.
I highly recommend this establishment for all transportation needs.

I have used ABC to rent cargo vans for business and have had nothing but great service. I haven’t rented an RV but I have always been happy with the vans and service I received.
Tip: Call ahead in advance and deal direct with them. I think the problem is when dealing with third party rentals. I have been able to arrange early pick ups and most rental companies put a hold on your cc. Uhaul is a good short option but if you have it for more than a day it becomes very expensive.

Worst rental experience ever. Reserved the truck through Penske a week in advanced and when we arrived to pick up there were no trucks available. The truck was not going to be returned until noon. Staff working was «filling in» and was not able to access the system. Offered another truck but needed to put a $ 400 hold on my cc. We walked 2 doors down to Uhaul.

very rude guys that work here at this location. do not reccommend if u expect good service. very dissapointed and spend a few grand on and rv. wouldnt let us pick up rv till 11 in the afternoon !!! deffinitly need an attitude adjustment. customer service is far from good.
