The friendliest key experience I’ve ever had! I had a broken car key that was quoted to me at $ 225 from the dealership.
I called and was given the info I needed and quoted at half the price. I arrived and was immediately taken care of.
I recommend anyone to go here for all keys!

Fast, affordable, friendly, and honest Service. I truly appreciate their assistance today. I was able to walk right in and have two car keys made. I had called numerous other locksmiths and taken the blank keys to a car dealership. All failed or were overpriced. The guys here had me in and out in less than five minutes and even walked out to confirm both keys worked. They were also more then happy to help with programming. Thanks guys!

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I find the website slightly confusing regarding making an appointment. It gives the hours and indicates that an appointment is needed on Sunday. However I learned that an appointment is not needed unless you’re having a difficult key cut, like a Porsche key. At least I think that’s correct.
Otherwise this place was top notch. Polite, fast and well priced. I had also called before they opened and left a voice message which was returned on the same day. Definitely recommend!

Went here to get my Ducati key cut because they did laser cut. Would’ve gave 5 stars but was not told that I needed to make an appointment, even though I called twice prior to coming in. Left my keys there for a couple of days, $ 30 later I had a spare key.

The woman scheduling was incredibly rude. They close the shop unannounced during regular business hours and do not return voice mails (when they state «we are with another customer, leave a message and we will call you right back). I was on a tight time frame to get a car key programmed and they acted as if they were doing me a favor squeezing me in two weeks out. There are countless lock smiths in Orange County, I am the one doing them a favor by calling to inquire about their business. I will take my business down the street as opposed to being treated in such a rude manner by a receptionist.

These guys are fair and honest. He only charged me $ 25 for what other locksmiths were trying to charge me $ 280. I’m so glad I found them. So if your looking for a honest locksmith these are your guys. Remember to make an appointment though.

Went to HB Toyota dealership and they wanted to charge me $ 700 for my 2002 Toyota ignition switch. They had convinced me to purchase a key with chip in it for a $ 100 so I did few months later same problem key no longer works … No warranty … Found Auto Authority and WOW he charged me $ 175 for my ignition switch all in an hour great customer service not looking to rip you off. Been around for almost 30 years and made me a customer for life. Thanks again

Best service ever! I highly recommend if you need a locksmith. I had to have my car key remade, which wasn’t as easy as you think it might be (2003 Lexus), and he was so helpful. And reasonable! Will definitely be back when I need anything key or lock related. You just don’t find quality businesses like this around here these days. Genuinely awesome.

This is place is great! James is an awesome business owner. I needed a new back up key made for my Ford Focus. He provided great service and was very friendly throughout the process.
I will go back here again if I ever have any lock or key issues. I would recommend this location to anyone who needs help with their lock and key issues.

My wife and I own a Locksmith shop in Van Nuys California. When we need a locksmith to service our accounts in Irvine and Costa Mesa California, we use JD Lock and Key Service. They are friendly and very professional in their work. We can always feel confident whenever they do a job for us.

Very friendly. Came to our house within 30 mins from our call and took care of rekeying our home for 8 locks very quick. highly recommend. Affordable. Service fee is higher than most but they charge a lot less for the actual locks so they ended up being less.
Competitors are $ 25 service fee and $ 20 – 45 per lock
They are $ 65 service fee and $ 12 per lock.
So if you have a lot locks to do, it’s a better value.

Most locksmiths on google don’t have a physical office and are just slimeballs working out of a van, posting fake addresses. This place is the real deal and know what they are doing. The owner is very nice and gets work done quickly at a fair price. They cut my aftermarket switchblade car keys (for $ 20) without hesitation, thankfully. Many other places (Ace hardware for example) will not touch switchblade keys because A: they don’t know what they’re doing, and B: They do not want to «deal» with customers expensive keys if and when they screw up, even though no special tools or skill is required to cut switchblade keys. Just typical corporate store manager laziness. If you need a real locksmith with a a real work space, Auto Authority aka JD lock and key is the place to go in Costa Mesa.

great service needed vw key programmed the dealer said only vw dealerships could do it. But dean was able to get it. showed up real quick and spent a lot of time but couldn’t get it that night. Came back in the morning and was able to do it no xtra charge and saved me from towing it to the dealership!

This guy was great!
After my car keys were stolen, I called nearly every locksmith and dealership around. I drive a 92 camaro with a chipped key so you can imagine, this wasn’t going to be easy. Most told me they couldn’t do it. Others quoted me very high prices. But when I called JD I was told if I could get the car there, he could do it for less than half the price of the other guys. I saved over $ 200 by going here, and the service was fast and very casual.
Only 4 stars because my blinker switch was never quite the same after taking it here. Because he had to remove my steering column, I imagine he didn’t quite put it back together correctly. Not a huge deal for the $ I saved and I bet if I asked nicely he would have fixed it. These are very nice people!

Great and speedy service! I was in and out with my purchase within 15 minutes.
I needed an extra, coded key for a car purchase I just recently made. They were extremely knowledgeable about keys and the importance of having spare sets (statistics, different types of keys, etc.).
I preferred to have a remote key made, but that was too expensive (ranged around $ 1XX), so I had a regular key made with the coding chip programmed (came out to a total of $ 94). Still, they were definitely cheaper than what the actual dealership charges, so I can’t be complaining.
Would most likely come to again if I ever had a key emergency.

If you are expecting professionalism, or thinking about getting work done on a hybrid or smart car, forget about it! If it were not for some of the other Unilocal reviews and I based this place completely on my own experience, I would think this place was one gigantic SCAM.
I was quoted $ 45 over the phone to program a duplicate key for a Prius. I brought my car in, was confirmed that $ 45 was the price after going over everything in a detailed manner, and waited over an hour for the owner Dean to come in to the shop to program the car since he is supposedly the only person able to do it. After waiting I was told he was not coming in today but to come back the next day. I made an appointment for noon the next day to come back in and confirmed again the price would be $ 45.
The next day I drop my car off, no problems. Was told it would be 45 minutes to an hour to get the work done. Everything seemed fine. Went to get some lunch. Come back and it was done. Walked to the register to pay. Dean (the owner) starts explaining how difficult it is to program the keys and how much work he had to do. He goes on and on complaining. He then proceeds to ring me up for $ 90. Wait… I’m thinking… I thought it would be $ 45, as I was quoted time and time again. When I told them I would not pay $ 90, only the quoted price of $ 45, Dean began screaming at me, telling me I was acting like a kid, called me a jerk and few other insults, and told me he will just deactivate the key then. Spent the next hour sitting around waiting for him to deactivate the key, felt like he was going to damage my car in some way, he was such a hot head!
After wasting both our time, he was not able to deactivate the key so he tells me (word for word) «Give me 45 bucks cash and get the f**k out of my sight» .I had to drive my car to the bank, withdraw cash, and come back wasting another huge amount of my time just to get my car’s duplicate key back.
A business should not treat customers this way for ANY reason, they should NEVER insult and call their customers names, and should show more professionalism. This shop did not show any professionalism. I highly recommend going elsewhere if you are getting work done on something electrical as Dean is not familiar with what he is doing.

Scoured Unilocal to find a decent locksmith, and came across these guys.
They’re located in a sketchy little center in Costa Mesa, right next to the 405. They’re cordial, extremely efficient, and very reasonably priced. For 2 house key copies, it was around $ 4.
The only con for me is they have a $ 10 credit card minimum, and I didn’t have the time/​desire to search for an ATM. Other than that, I would definitely come here again for my key-​copying needs!
