Learn to dance Salsa, Mambo, Argentine Tango, Swing, Ballroom, Latin, and more at Orange County’s favorite Latin and Ballroom dance studio. We’ve got it all — great classes, great people, great staff, and group dance classes each week. We have dance for all levels, all styles, and all ages. We are the leading dance studio in Orange County for learning Latin, Ballroom, Swing, Tango, Waltz, Salsa, Mambo, Argentine Tango and many more dance styles as seen on Dancing with the Stars and So you Think You Can Dance. Dance Asylum opened it’s door April 2008 to share our love for dance with the community. We are proud of our beautiful dance studio, Professional Instructors and awesome Staff.

We also teach Burlesque/​Stiletto Class for those ladies who love to learn a classic Burlesque routine or top 40s Music Video dance styles. Hip Hop and break dancing for students who just enjoy dancing by themselves without a partner.

Hanh had the dream of a dance school; with lots of dance floors and rooms for teaching, top instructors and a family friendly environment. Then came Jon and Gina who shared the same vision. Together we put our heart and soul into creating Dance Asylum.

I have been taking my kids here for break dancing lessons for a little over 3 months now and they love it. They are so much confident and so determine. They are learning so much and getting a great workout!!! Their instructor Jules is great! So patient with the kids. Everyone there is really friendly and welcoming. The facility is clean and the bathrooms are well kept. Their prices are really reasonable and affordable. I just started taking lessons there too with the kids and it’s so much fun. It makes us closer and Tuesday and Thursday nights is a bonding night with mommy and the boys

I have been taking classes at Dance Asylum for four years now. Between aerial classes, dance classes and just the general atmosphere, this is honestly the best dance studio around. And that’s saying something as I’ve spent many years in various studios during my dancing career.
Hanhi runs the studio and is constantly helping out new customers, as well as returners, with the utmost attention. She is warm, kind and incredibly helpful, not to mention she works all hours of the day to ensure that the studio and its students are always taken care of. I could go on and on about the wonderful experiences I’ve had at Dance Asylum, but I highly encourage people who’ve never been to go and take a class. It’s won’t be the last they take, I’m sure of it.

I had not taken a dance class since I was in high school and was intimidated to go to a studio. I had some friends that were taking Kia’s Dancing In Stilettos class and thought I would give it a try. Kia is an excellent teacher, who is able to breakdown the movements in a dance and explain it to a non-​dancer. We video tape ourselves (this is optional) at the end of the classes, and it was so much fun to see the progress that I was making. I look forward to my Tuesday nights and dancing out the stress that life brings me.

Hanh hooked my husband and I up with Chris for our wedding dance. Chris is really awesome. I like how he was straight forward with us when we did something wrong and praised us when we performed the routine correctly. We took about 4 months of basic waltz, tango, salsa, and cha cha. Then we were teamed up with Chris for our first dance routine. He was an excellent coordinator. Hanh, who is one of the owners is really helpful too. She would jump in every now and then to help us out. She actually was the one who taught us the basics before we worked with Chris, which made it a lot easier because Chris can be tough sometimes. My husband and I enjoyed every bit of the learning process. I can’t wait to go back to Dance Asylum once I have completely healed from surgery.

I have always been a fan of ballroom dance, but never had the nerve or reason to try it. So, when I finally found the right partner, an amazing and supportive girlfriend, I decided to sign us up for private lessons as an anniversary present. We’ve been taking lessons with Hanh for a few months now and couldn’t be happier. From the first lesson, Hanh made us both feel incredibly comfortable. There could not be a friendlier and more supportive dance instructor in the world. We walked in thinking we would only learn one style of dance, but Hanh is making sure that we get exposed to the fundamentals from a variety of styles (waltz, rumba, tango, foxtrot and more). She has been so patient and at the same time pushes us to learn as much as we can from each lesson. We leave each lesson feeling rejuvenated and eager to go home and practice. I highly recommend Dance Asylum to anyone even remotely interested in ballroom.

Having never danced before I was a little intimidated to join the Burlesque class, but after reading the reviews from the old location, I decided to give it a try. Kia’s class was a fun and he explained all the steps in a way I (a beginner) could understand. The girls that had been «regulars» from the class were also very helpful and really nice. After taking classes for about two months, I decided to try the ballroom lessons. I started learning from Chris. He explains why the steps are the way they are and helps me understand the different types of ballroom dances. I am currently still dancing with Chris and also taking classes from Lucie, Kristina, Vasily, and Lana. All the teachers here are fun to dance with and very helpful. They understand that the students are all at different levels and help make the choreography simple to understand, but they allow me to push myself to become a better dancer. The studio is also clean, beautiful, and full of exciting energy. They have many events like potlucks where all the students and teachers come on a Friday or Saturday and dance together, and Showcases where the students can preform. I started coming to this studio in July 2014 and I don’t think I will ever leave the Dance Asylum family.

My husband and I have always wanted to take ballroom classes. First of all, we are not trained dancers. Honestly, we just like to have fun and go to clubs. We have been taking dance lessons with Chris since Dance Asylum was at their previous studio. They have now upgraded to a larger space for over a year, and it has been better than ever. They have instructors from all over the world and teach every style of dance including latin, ballroom, jazz, hip hop, kids break dancing, and heels. They even have yoga.
When it came time to learn our wedding dance this past January, we didn’t want any ordinary dance. Chris and Hanh were so patient in teaching us and really wanted us to succeed in making our vision come to life, even when my now husband was ready to throw in the towel. In the end, our guests came up to us saying it was the best first dance they had ever seen. If you have a desire to dance, want to step out of your comfort zone, or just meet some great people, this is the place to do it. My husband and I continue to be proud students of Dance Asylum and are so happy we have found new wonderful and supportive friends. Here is the link to our first wedding dance:

Took the «heels» class with Kia at the recommendation of a friend. Every week was something fun and different. Students are totally engaged and truly enjoying themselves.
Studio is owned/​managed by a lovely woman named Hahni. She is so sweet and makes you feel welcomed the second you walk in the door.
For me I couldn’t ask for anything more.

I reviewed this studio back in 2011! I tried to update this review but because they moved, I need to post a new one. Here is my past review:
Dance Asylum is a great studio that will make you an awesome dancer. I have been going there for almost 2 years now. My professional dance instructors are the best around.
The studio is mostly a ballroom dance studio but you can take classes in hip-​hop, aerial arts, belly dancing, and many other styles of dance. I highly recommend this studio. It is located in a great location on Bristol in Costa Mesa and everyone is friendly and knowledgeable.
Update: Well, I have been dancing for almost 5 years now and I have had the same instructor I had 3 years ago when I first reviewed this studio. I have to say she still is the best around (Petra). Petr is another instructor at the studio and is my coach; and I have been doing better than ever. I still highly recommend this studio and the new location looks wonderful! Keep dancing! The new location is just up the street from Bristol on Kalmus off of Redhill.
