Never answer the fuk phone! You have to wait at least whole life with the fukin robot that fukin your ears. Not only this! We made a reservation on website which is a mustang 2015. However, there was not even a piece of the car (mustang) This really make me so anger. It allowed people to book the car on website and rent a totally difference car that you book. I want to ask «why fox create an useless system that allow people to book the car?» This is ridiculous!!! Never and ever rent the fukin cars on this company!

Really don’t know why they never answer any phone call.
Also, if u order the certain car online, they will tell you that is now available when u arrive at the front desk. Then if you order an expensive car they will just give u a cheaper car and tell you that they will give you discount which is $ 3 a day. They fking lie on everything

Horrible cars, dishonest agents, and non-​existent customer service is how I would summarize Fox Rent A Car, possibly the worst car rental agency I have ever used.
For my most recent rental, I received the crappiest beater car in their lot, a base 2014 Nissan Versa. It had 55k miles on the odometer, at least 3 distinct areas with bumper damage, dirty windows, unwashed interior with white substance smeared over the driver seat, water bottles left behind from prior customers. The car did not have power locks, so I had to manually lock each door through the interior of the car, which was a hassle everytime I needed to get in and out. In addition, the car was not equipped with power windows, which I thought was uncommon for a 2014 model vehicle, so I had to roll up each window with a Stone Age manual crank. You get what you paid for ($ 13.50/day). The Versa was only good for one thing, being good on gas (~40 mpg).
The dishonest behavior of the agents was sufficient for me to never rent from Fox again. They charged me for roadside assistance ($ 3.99/day) although we never discussed it at the counter. This option was actually declined during my online reservation. I did not need this kind of service since I am already a AAA member. At the Fox office, I made a mistake of «signing everything» on the waiver which sneakily included a statement of accepting roadside assistance. I didn’t realize it until I checked the receipt after I drove home.
When I accidentally locked my keys in the rental car a few hours later, I thought that Fox’s roadside assistance would actually turn out to be useful, so I called their hotline (877−936−9349). I was put on hold for over an hour, unable to speak to anyone at Fox. I tried their ²⁴⁄₇ Live Chat but apparently it’s only available until 3pm. I was asked to leave a message and then wait for a response the following day via email, which was not useful (for the record I received a response 16 hours later). I ended up calling AAA instead for help, and they sent out a locksmith within 1 hour to solve my problem. Customer service at Fox is not dependable and non-​existent, because nobody picks up the phone at any of the Fox branches or even the roadside assistance hotline in a timely manner.
If I required emergency roadside assistance on the freeway, I probably cannot trust Fox to help out despite paying for their services. For that statement alone, Fox Rent A Car deserves 1 star.

Where to start! The worst customer service I have EVER experienced. The shuttle which is supposed to run every 10 minutes came after 50 minutes. I tried to call the rental location and was on hold the entire time while I was waiting for the shuttle and the phone was never answered. The car was filthy and had almost 50,000 miles on it. We had a key issue and tried to call and see if they would replace the key and gain waited on hold for an hour before actually having someone drive us to the location, once at the location they said they do not have a spare key, they actually gave us the only key they have. Leaving we qwaitned for an eternity to actually check out.

Truly wonderful service! If you rent from Fox, you can have the peace of mind that even if you lose your cellphone in your car, they will find it and return it for you. I left mine in my rental car, and I wasn’t even sure if I had left it at the gas station or the airport or the rental car, but I emailed them a day later and sure enough, they looked and found my cell phone and sent it back to me! Outstanding customer service. Thank you, Fox!

Renting and returning cars are quick and easy, especially if you are in a rush to get somewhere or just want to the process to be fast. Definitely not the hassle and long wait lines compared to as if you were at the Airport! They also shuttle you to John Wayne Airport.

BEWARE: We rented a full-​size car in Orange County at their location near the airport. The car was treated with a nasty chemical to neutralize smoke odor from the previous renter.
They charged $ 90 in administration fees for 7 toll fees processed through the automated toll system. They said those terms were accepted in the rental agreement. The representative never mentioned that. He only asked to get the extended daily warranty.
I have been charged the exact cumulative toll fees in Florida and other states renting with Hertz, so I assumed Fox would do the same, but no. To make it worse, Orange County happens to charge one-​time toll fees…
I will certainly never rent a car with this company again.

I’m giving Fox four stars because they’re cheap. The car was clean and only had a few minor dings (which I clearly documented before leaving the lot). The didn’t try to pressure sell me into the insurance coverage (which is a total waste of money if you’re paying with American Express).
I had to wait about 30 minutes in the line for a car even though I’d paid in advance… and my car was prepaid so the checkout time was left the same as I’d reserved it (even though I didn’t get the car until 4:30). So, be sure to let them know that if you wait, they change the time. This is really the only reason I’m giving it four stars.
BTW you get a discount if you prepay for your reservation so I think it’s worth it if you know when you will be picking up and dropping off.

Customer service is horrible. The workers are rude and not helpful. When i walked in i was the only person there, 3 people were behind the counter, i walked up to the counter all 3 people ignored me and walked in to different offices. After 5 minutes one of them came back and said «What’s up».

Originally the email said pick-​up drop off point was John wayne, i had a friend take me there. Once i got there I was told the site is not at the airport and i needed to take a shuttle to the offsight area. This was not disclosed at the beginning.
I was told my bill would be around $ 154. I looked at my credit card and i was charged $ 289 plus another $ 50.

UPDATE: Went back today. Same agent.
Zero wait. Much smoother.
Will continue to rent here.

I don’t know why people are giving low ratings here. Maybe there was a wait or something. But I came at 6:20 am and there was no line. Melissa was quick and efficient and very nice. I let her know that I booked my reservation online. She only stepped away once to see what car they had. It took like 5 minutes to ask all the questions of coverage and gas refill and then signatures. I will note that I booked insurance online too so maybe that’s the reason she didn’t hassle me with all the extras.
The only downside is waiting for your car. But it is really early in the morning, so I’ll give them that. They might be cleaning it last minute and doing last checks. I waited about roughly 15 minutes for them to pull it up.
The attendant checked the car and handed the keys to me in a few minutes and I was out of there.
I returned from my trip and the return process was also painless. I rolled up and the guy attendant did his thing. He printed my receipt and I was done. I’ll note that I came to return the car at 10 pm and there were no cars in front or behind me to return.
Overall, I had a great experience and I would recommend booking them online either at Priceline or their website.

Stear Clear!
When I arrived there we four people in lin in front of me. It was 35 minutes till i reached the counter. At the counter the agent was nice enough. Their system is so slow an ineffective. Another 20 min at counter. I did receive an upgrade which was a nice bonus. I went out to get my car did the walk around got it it started it up and it was out of gas. I pay the extra $ 10 a day just to have better service. Maybe they were just having a bad day but it didn’t bode well with me.

Not a bad place to rent a car for a really good price. We recently planned a trip from Orange County to San Francisco and were dropping the car off at the airport in San Francisco. It only cost us like $ 135.00 bucks to have the car for about 4 days. It was one of the cheapest places we found and we got a decent car for the tip.
Customer service was not bad although they did miss a spot when inspecting the car and had to go back and point it out so we didn’t get charged. But still a great experience and I would totally use the company again. If you are in OC on business or vacation, give these guys a chance for a rental. CHEERS!!!

The rental is so cheap here because the service is so horrible. I came to pick up my rental at 6am and there was no one there at the counter. A few minutes later the attendant comes, asks for id and cc. Asks if I want to upgrade etc etc. No I don’t. She leaves to go look for a car. The line behind me is getting longer with people. When guy even says «does anyone work here?» The girl finally comes back after 20 minutes?(I may be exaggerating) and says we don’t have a van because there is a nail in the tire. We can give you an expedition though. Ok will that cost extra? No. Thank goodness. Go outside to pick up my car and they are still cleaning it. I get the car and it is still really dirty… Ugh whatever. Return the car the next day and have to wait awhile for an attendant to come and look over the car.
I am so use to the fast service of renting cars at John Wayne. One star for being cheap. One star for the free upgrade?
I would only come again if I really had to. Sometimes paying a little more may be worth it…

Returned my car to Fox an hour and an additional 3 – 5 minutes past the return time and was charged $ 10 ($ 5 for each additional hour). Was fine with the first, asked if the charge for the second hour could be waived since it was so close. The charge was waived. Great! But this is where the 5 star review turns into a 1 star review.
I picked up the rental car on a Sunday night, and was driving it to Las Vegas right away. Outside Barstow, in the middle of nowhere, one of the tires blew. Stars were shining brightly since there were no lights on the highway to be seen… I was stuck here on a Sunday night, without any quick and easy way to remedy the situation. Had to get out and change to the spare tire. Unfortunately, the full size Dodge Charger did not come with a full size spare… it came with a tiny donut that had a maximum speed of 50mph, but that’s Dodge’s problem…
No big deal, changed the spare tire, these things happen from time to time right? Nope, not really. The reason this happened was because the tires were overinflated by around 40%! The car’s tire pressure gauges read 48 and 46 psi for the front tires, with the only remaining rear tire at 49psi. The stock spec is 35psi! Why on earth were these so high? The tires have a maximum of 50psi (cold pressure), so all the other tires on the car were already pushing the limit. I had to stop at a gas station since the spare tire was low on pressure too, and I had to fill that up and adjust pressures of the other tires before blowing another out.
After all of that trouble, I now had to drive the remaining 175 miles on a spare tire with a maximum speed of 50mph, on a time crunch, since I was trying to catch an interview. This is exactly what I didn’t need.
I did contact Fox and they had said that Firestone Complete Auto Care had a contract with them and would replace the tire free of charge, so I dealt with that first thing after my interview. I gave the guy at Firestone my Fox paperwork, and he went about changing the tire. I was in and out in an hour, but the entire time, he was unable to contact Fox to get the go ahead to change the tire! He went ahead and did it and sent me on my way… he was going to deal with the paperwork later. Nothing out of my pocket, big thanks to Firestone for dealing with an unresponsive Fox.
Got a new tire, all is well. Fast forward to returning the car.
Returned it a few minutes past, got the entire fee waived, great. I go to inform the manager of the improperly maintained car so it would never happen again in the future to someone else.
I tell him that the tire was likely overinflated and popped, since all the tires were overinflated. I told him I had to change to the spare tire. I was already grateful he refunded $ 12 to me (why it wasn’t $ 10, I don’t know).
«So you drove the remaining way all on the spare tire??»
What am I supposed to do? Fox gave me a car who’s tire popped in less than an hour of receiving it. I found out the rest of the tires were overinflated, this had nothing to do with me.
«Well, you should have taken a picture of it.»
I said I did take a picture of it, and showed him. He didn’t seem too happy for some reason… I don’t know why. He then went to his computer and started looking up how much I paid.
He then said, «Well, you got the car for $xx a day and drove 1000 miles, so that’s a pretty good deal»
1000 miles?
«Okay, I mean 600 miles.»
Las Vegas is only 230 miles away from Costa Mesa, so that would have been a little more than 460, but at this point it was obvious he was just trying to give me a hard time. The MANAGER. Trying to give the CUSTOMER a hard time.
Why does it matter how much I paid? This isn’t Craigslist. I didn’t lowball you on your rental, YOU guys named the price and I paid it. I mentioned that I prepaid for an entire tank of gas ($ 50), and I returned it with half a tank full, so they profited another $ 25 off me that way. He then argued it was a convenience fee. I assured him that I was only informing him of the SAFETY ISSUES OF THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE, NOT trying to get any discounts, and he continued to give attitude for some reason.
I was never given a reason as to why the tire was overinflated. At this point, there’s a few logical conclusions that can be drawn.
Fox over-​inflates the tires on their rental car
1) to prolong tire life to save them money in the long run.
2) increase fuel economy and save them money when they fill up a pre-​paid gas tank
or
3) a previous renter over inflated the tires to save money on gas.
#3 is likely possible, but Fox still did not bother to check the basics before passing it on to the next customer.
I ALREADY TOOK RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR CAR MAINTENANCE, wasting 3 – 4 hours of my time (when I was trying to make an interview) and forced to drive at a crawl on the highway for hours, and the MANAGER didn’t even want to hear about it. I suggest you take your business elsewhere.

It looks like people had such bad experiences with Fox… luckily I did not, and got a pretty sweet whip to drive up to SF on the cheap. But it is true that they take it more at a leisurely pace, so if you are on a tight schedule you might want to go elsewhere.
First of, you have to find the place. If you’re driving directly, there is a lot for visitor parking. If you’re coming from the airport, there is a shuttle that will take you directly there located across the street from the gates with a bunch of other shuttles.
Mercifully, there was no line when we arrived. We had reserved a compact vehicle for $ 17.45 a day. The lady helping us said that there were no more of the cars we had reserved, so they would give us a free upgrade! So we picked out a 2015 Toyota Camry and she completed our transaction, and charged my card $ 150 as a security deposit. Some additional fees that were foisted upon us:
Insurance (optional, but better to be safe?) — $ 17/​day for full coverage
Underage (really though why do you have to be 25, such bs) — $ 15/​day
The car is much better than my own, so it was a pleasure to drive and ran like a dream. After all, it was brand new and had less than 7000 miles on it!
Coming back was a little more hectic, as we were trying to make it back before the cutoff time of 9 pm. We ran into traffic on the way, so I tried calling them to see if we would be charged for a whole day. They had me on hold for 40 minutes! Nobody answered! By the time we got there, we were 15 minutes late, but we learned they would just charge us $ 5 for a late fee. Cool.
They checked out the car and gave me my receipt, which did not give me the whole deposit back on my card. What? So we went inside (btw it was empty… why didn’t they answer their phones?) and they cleared it up for us. Apparently the system had charged me for a full day of underage + a full day of insurance again. Double check your receipts!
They have very good rates if you’re on a budget, but if you don’t want to bother with waiting, try somewhere else. I’ll personally be using them again.

Rented a Minivan for a trip to Vegas. The thing smelled like someone used it as a gym for a month and wasn’t using any deodorant. Horrendous and made me want to gag. Didn’t have time to make changes since I didn’t fully know how bad it was until I was a few miles away from the rental spot and was in a rush to beat traffic. Had to resort to spraying Lysol throughout the van all weekend. Funny but definitely wish I didn’t have to go through that.
Positive: cost was fair, location was easy, front desk staff was nice and not pushy about upgrades and insurance
Negatives: vehicle smelled like BO x 1000, van didn’t drive very well, attendant outside took FOREVER to find the vehicle and I ended up finding it for him by pressing the panic button on the keyfob (SMH).
FINAL THOUGHTS: Would book with them again on Priceline, but definitely take a good whiff of the car and a spin around the parking lot before accepting the vehicle.

If you’re not in a hurry, Fox is a good choice for renting a car. I usually travel for business, so I’ll pay a higher price for a car based on the convenience of picking it up at the airport. However, the shuttle to/​from Fox was not bad at all!
The shuttle comes about every 15 minutes, so I had a short wait both to the rental place and back to the airport after returning the car. The shuttle was clean and comfortable, and the drivers were friendly. Once we got to the rental counter, there was a bit of a wait, but it’s because their system had been down, so I don’t think that’s typical.
Overall, if I’m in a hurry I’ll continue to rent on-​site. But if I have an extra half hour to spare, I’ll save a few bucks and rent from Fox again.

Customer Service Rep, Dominic, gave above and beyond service! Bring in a smile, and walk out with a smile! :) He gave us stellar customer service, making sure our experience and rental car was satisfied. They didn’t have he car we exactly wanted, so he gave a car to take home until he called us later in the day to let us know we can bring it back to swap out for the car they just got back that we wanted!
He was friendly and positive. We walked in with NO wait lines and got out in under than 20 minutes.
CHEAPEST prices anywhere and a Team.
I honestly was hesitant to go through Fox because of some reviews here, but I was confident that walking in with POSITIVE energy, than that is what we will get in return. :)

We recently rented here for the first time. Everything went smoothly, we had no issues, and the price was right. Transportation to and from the airport was quick. We also rented a car seat from them. FYI — if you do this, they have multiple car seats available and you are responsible for setting them up in the car.
As a tourist unfamiliar with the area, I wish they would have informed me about the toll roads in Orange County. I had no idea and ended up going on them a lot, when I could have avoided them if I had known beforehand. That is the only thing I would change about my experience with this company.
