History

Established in 1976.

Our bakery has been an Orange County tradition since 1956-​first as the Cupcake Bakery from 1956 – 1976 and since then as French’s Cupcake Bakery. Family owned and operated by Joe and Maria Hoover. All of our baked goods are made on the premises by our skilled staff.

I ordered a birthday cake last week and it came to be more than what I envisioned. I wanted a vanilla naked cake with butter cream frosting topped with peonies. I brought in the followers the day before so everything could be ready for the following day. When I arrived, the baker brought out this beautiful creation! I was ecstatic and could not wait to show all of my friends! Thank you French’s Cupcake Bakery for adding they cherry on top of my birthday celebration!

Got our wedding cake from French’s Cupcake Bakery for our wedding on 4÷23÷16. It was delivered on time and was gorgeous! The bottom layer was chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The middle and top layers were lemon blueberry cake with lemon cream cheese filling. It was delicious and we received so many compliments. Thank you!

So my boyfriend got a Hello kitty Carrot cake and cupcake for my birthday. The cake was divine! Moist, delicate and rich. I was in heaven when I took the first bite. Needless to say I was very impressed with it. Now I love hello kitty! But the graphic on the cake looked like something a kid would draw. The happy birthday was really small too I was surprised but the flavor and icing made up for it! Thank you guys for making my birthday special!

Today was my first visit and the customer service was top notch! They were friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome while they answered my questions. I got a ½ dozen cupcakes for my husbands birthday and the ones we tried so far tasted amazing! I will definitely be back when I am back in town.

Came in for a cake tasting for my upcoming wedding and was so impressed with the samples. Everything was so moist and so nicely put together with little labels, it made it a seamless experience. With hot coffee and water on hand for us to wash down the sugary goodness with the awesome customer service, this really is a gem :) They even put together our own idea on the spot just so we could taste if it was wedding cake worthy! Sampled their cupcakes too. The oreo cookie is so delicious!

I work next door so I am always coming in. I never get anything but five star service. They always answer all my questions and i get help quickly, even when it is busy. The business is always clean, which I greatly appreciate, and everyone is so welcoming! I haven’t tasted anything that wasn’t delicious, and I’ll keep going back and trying new things. I highly recommend French’s to everyone!

French’s bakery is a real gem in the neighborhood. All their food is delicious and the customer service is great as well. Cakes and cupcakes aren’t my go to however the ones here are excellent and full of flavor. I’m also a big fan of their pastries (yum) and their cake pies! Yes, they have an excellent baked good known as a «coffee cake in a pan» that reminds me of a cross between a cake and a pie, hence my nickname. It’s delicious, moist and comes in a bunch of flavors. Thank you Anthony for the suggestion.
Based on the reviews there are a ton of other products I need to try, better get on that!

We love French’s. All our birthday cakes and deserts come from this bakery. If you haven’t tried them yet your missing out on some really good cakes and deserts. First bite happened 6years ago for me and i was hooked. Now i can’t imagine a birthday cake or sweets without this bakery. Tho i gotta say I’ve never tried the cupcakes. But maybe next time :)

I’ve been coming to this bakery for years. I’ve always had French’s cupcake bakery make my cakes when it comes to a special occasion. This particular occasion was for my my wife’s baby shower. French’s nailed my vision and brought my cake to life. I want to thank the entire staff for making my recent experience a great one. Joe and Anthony especially. Great service In person, not so much on the phone. I wanted to call in to pick up a large order of cupcakes and the girl who picked up was so preoccupied with whatever else she was doing she put me on hold a few times. Finally, a lady with an accent picked up and said they were so so so busy they couldn’t talk to me and would not take any orders on the phone. So weird.
I still had to make the trip out there for the birthday boy and get whatever cupcakes were left in the display case and they were all delicious. (Blueberry lemon, carrot, raspberry lemon and raspberry truffle)
I just wish they had better phone etiquette.

I frequent French’s to get cupcakes as a special treat for my daughter, but what I’m writing this review for is their cakes! I can’t say enough good things about the artistry and personalized service here. I have had all 3 of my daughter’s birthday cakes made here and we look forward to it every year. The staff at French’s, especially Sherri, are knowledgable and help me every step of the way.
I choose French’s every time over the «newer» shops like Cinderella cakes because not only does French’s execute our collaborative artistic vision but they are concerned with taste! A lot of places just want to up charge you by using fondant (plus it’s easier to work with than icing), and it doesn’t taste good at all. My cakes from French’s always look and taste amaaaaazing!
I appreciate the personalized service, attention to detail, and pride in their work so much that I’m a customer for life.

I’m surprised and impressed. A friend suggested we pick up a Wagon Wheel cheese Danish to take to a party for dessert. I thought… meh. Cheese Danish? Number one– it’s huge! We fed about 10 people! Number two– it’s not too sweet, actually just the right amount of cheesiness and sugar. Number three– jaded LA beach people/​party-​goers were impressed too. I had never been to this bakery before but I’ll certainly be back. We also got for ourselves, the apple turnover roll (densely applied cinnamony apples insude) and the not too heavy and not too sweet berry turnover. Both excellent. Like the Terminator said, «I’ll be back…»
