Love their ice cream!!! My favorite is the dark chocolate. Since I’ve discovered this place a couple of weeks ago, I’ve been back a few times a week, and usually get a pint, so I can enjoy it every day! I’m really picky when it comes to ice cream and the only other ice cream I’ve liked is a very high-​end brand, but this dark chocolate is so much better!
Christopher is really talented at what he does… it’s no wonder he’s had his chocolates at award shows. I’ll be back again and again to have a creamy scoop of heaven! :)

The lavender honey is so amazing! It has been really hot here in Costa Mesa and this ice cream was amazingly refreshing! Ice cream and Chocolate is a cute little shop off of Wilson and Newport blvd, easy to miss but not easy to forget once you find it! Hand made ice cream and incredible chocolates that send your taste buds on a ride, this place is awesome!

I’ve been wanting to try these chocolates for a long time. So when I came in to pick some up as a gift, I finally got to try a couple for myself. 24 pieces for $ 36, which is expensive but not overpriced. The espresso one was really good, with a smooth and subtle flavor that wasn’t too sweet. I’m not a huge chocolate person, but you could tell that these were thoughtfully crafted chocolates.
The ice cream tho, was awesome. I got a scoop of coffee and it was light, creamy and delicious. I probably should have tried some of the more exotic flavors, but I was pretty damn happy with my coffee ice cream. It’s a small little store located in a nondescript strip mall off Newport Blvd. But if you are a fan of ice cream or quality sweets, it is worth the trip.

My friend has been drawn to salted caramel ice cream since she went to Oregon and had it at Salt & Straw. When I stumbled upon this place, I just had to take her.
They are very generous with their ice cream samples. There were about 8 flavors or so, and we basically sampled all of them because we couldn’t describe the taste to each other. They were all delish, I have no complaints!
Chipotle chocolate sounded weird to me but it’s actually pretty good. Macademia had a different, thicker texture to it than the other flavors. My friend settled with salted caramel in a cone and I got green tea in a cup. The salted caramel is comparable to that of Salt & Straw and the green tea is very refreshing and tastes like no other green tea I’ve ever had. I have not tried the chocoates, but def will be back for more!

From the outside you wouldn’t think much of this creamery and chocolate shop. Located next to the circle k, this is a very small creamery that serves amazing ice cream.
Visited on a super hot afternoon around 230 and a lot of the flavors were already more than halfway gone… it’s definitely a popular place! We ended up getting salted caramel, lavender and earl grey. The flavors were perfect and the texture was so smooth! The last time I had salted caramel this good was when I was in SF and at Salt & Straw in Portland. This is now one of my favorite places to get ice cream! I will definitely be back

Yay! Got to come here from riverside!!! As I said previously I went to the one in corona but now this is their only branch.
First of all, the owner is so friendly! He is a great person to talk to and he’s very patient! He’ll let you try samples of the ice cream. Oh my word the ice cream is just has heavenly as I remembered it being! Lavender is my favoriteeeee ice cream. But the grey salt caramel is amazing! I’ve never had ice cream that tasted just like caramel inside a chocolate! Usually it tastes more artificial to me (especially when you get it from a gelato shop and such.) I also love their Thai tea one. My boyfriend enjoyed the mint one so much. Basically, all the flavors are probably amazing. Even his basic chocolate and vanilla one is probably WAAAAY more delicious than the regular store bought container ones.
I also got to try just a bit of his chocolate creations. They’re really unique flavors! Tried the peppermint one and I think it was the vanilla caramel one. But you can tell that they were hand made and it just was so delicious. Not overwhelmingly sweet.
The only thing is when I was looking for this place. Instead of having «Christopher michaels etc. etc.» on the store banner. It just has a fancy «cm chocolates and ice cream» and so I missed the store the first time I tried looking for it, lol!!! So don’t look for a banner saying «Christopher michaels» look for «chocolate and ice cream» because I didn’t even know the «cm» was a cm lol! I’ll definitely come here EVERYTIME I’m in Newport or Costa Mesa!

I’ve been to this store 2 times so far and can say I’m very impressed. I love chocolate. Used to work at a chocolate store in Michigan. Same concept. All handmade chocolates. No additives or preservatives. Delicious! The ice cream is perfection. Nothing is too heavy or too sweet. Added bonus is they use straus milk to create everything. I plan to use them for favors for my future events and will absolutely come back to buy chocolate gifts for friends & family. Price is justified and reasonable for chocolate $ 1.50/piece considering what goes into creating them and quality ingredients. Must try for the sweets lover!

Some pleasures in life are immediate. Sex and drugs all plug straight into our limbic system and get those dopamine centers firing. Believe it or not, Ice cream & chocolate belong to this category too – And Frozen Cow Creamery offers both!
Located in an unassuming plaza next to Circle K, Frozen Cow Creamery is owned by Christopher Michael who is an innovative genius with desserts. For only $ 3 a scoop, you can send your taste buds to paradise by way of unique flavors such as Earl Grey, Basil strawberry, Honey Lavender, and the best salted caramel I’ve tasted since Salt & Straw in Portland.
Most ice cream places have a dependency on making their product super sweet and thick, but Christopher Michael creates a beautiful smooth cream that’s light and playful when eaten. Just be mindful that the flavors are made daily so they run out fast.
As for the chocolates, I didn’t get a chance to sample any of them, but there are pictures of Jennifer Love Hewitt thanking Mr. Michael for the delicious chocolates. That’s enough for me to endorse it too. Lol #highschoolcrush

Conclusion: A fantastic option for ice cream in Orange county – possibly the best. I just wish the scoops were bigger as they are a little small compared to places like Hans and Stricklands. Also, Christopher Michael could be more welcoming and jovial about letting people sample the flavors, but with a chef skills like his, I guess he’s earned the right to be that way. I’ll definitely be back to try their bacon flavors and chocolates!

Came here the other day with my boyfriend for Christopher Michael’s chocolate cooking class. We learned how to make hand rolled truffles and he showed us a demo on how to make caramel. We got to actually make the truffles but the caramel making was just a demo. Definitely learned a lot from this class and now I know why I’ve failed many times at making truffles on my own!
I also bought a couple of his chocolate bars after the class was over. I like the grey salt dark chocolate. just something about sweet and salty combination I love. Haven’t tried the Aztec Spice one yet, but my bet is that it’s going to be delicious.
My favorites so far are the lavender and dark chocolate truffle. I would buy a box of just lavender if I could. His chipotle one was good too (really liked the kick it had).
He also sells ice cream in his shop! There are some really interesting flavors (earl grey, honey lavendar, bacon, thai tea, etc). Definitely will be going back to try some of these awesome flavors!
I love chocolate and I’m so glad I found this gem right here in the OC. For me personally, I don’t mind spending some money to get good quality chocolate. So yes, it might be pricey, but it’s worth it!

This is purely for a review of the ice cream I got on my recent visit to the shop! As we walked in we noticed this man in jeans and a torn up shirt working the counter. I thought to myself «weird that this man is working in an ice cream shop.» Little to my knowledge, I’m looking at the flavors they serve and gazed over to the news article about Christopher Michael’s chocolate creations — only to realize that the man behind the counter IS Christopher Michael. Personally, he needs to be more presentable to the public if he is going to be working behind the counter!
As for the ice cream, I got the Rosemary Caramel ice cream which I immediately fell in love with! The subtle caramel flavor and balance of rosemary worked really well! I don’t know about you, but that is not a combination that I would of thought about. I friend got the Lavender Honey ice cream which was delicious and really light! I’m excited to go in again soon and try some of his other flavors!
Despite the location being a little weird — definitely a place to try some unique ice cream creations!

Small business, big dreams, discriminating tastes.
Besides getting to meet THE Christopher Michael himself at this location, we continue to be amazed at the lovely ice creams he creates. I can only say, I have had a melt down (so sorry for that unforgivably bad pun) and now crave his ice cream. He favors a not-​too-​sweet base, gorgeously smooth consistency, then manipulates them into delectable yet subtle combinations that include Basil Strawberry, Lavender Vanilla, Bacon, and Nutella flavors. You never know what flavors he will feature, it is at his whim. And if you dare to think that $ 3 is too much for a generous scoop of ice cream, then weigh it. It is far more dense than those other guys. Excellent value!
I am thankful he has a sister store in the Dos Lagos area of south Corona. That is so close to where I live, I can indulge often. Yay!
Let’s give a high five to encourage him to get into the ice cream truck business as well. He is already dreaming about it. I might become a food truck chaser.

What girl doesn’t like chocolate?
Yes, I know, I’m addicted, but I just love chocolate. I went here with my new guy and he treated me to some of the yummiest, delicatable chocolates I’ve ever had.
I loved the one (sorry can’t remember the name) that had the white chocolate trim with just a touch of caramel. It was incredible. I also indulged on a dark chocolate, truffly looking thing that was really, really, intense — not like that, lol!
So, guys take it from me, women just love to be treated to little chocolate surprises and Christopher Michael Chocolates is a great one for your special girl.

I don’t know if I am fully settled on giving this place a three star rating, but I know that the more I try can either make or break my feelings toward this place.
If I was rating just the ice cream I would give it four stars, but I had a piece of chocolate since technically that’s what this guy is known for.
I ordered the rosemary caramel chocolate, nutella ice cream, and grey salt caramel ice cream. The chocolate was WAY too overpowering. I understand that rosemary is a powerful garnish in cooking however I don’t understand why you would such a bold flavor when pairing it with salty caramel. I gave it a try only because my love for rosemary drew me to it initially but now I wish I tried something else, which I definitely will because the ice cream saved this review.
I am used to the creamy and perfectly sweet taste of Carmela’s artisanal ice cream so this place had alot to live up to when I read that he had flavors like: lavender honey, salty caramel, and strawberry balsamic. Sadly, nothing beats Carmela’s but he came very close. The ice cream was airy and had perfect flavor. He definitely got it right when he only used a subtle amount of salt for the caramel and the nutella was spot on, I could even taste the hazelnut!
Definitely want to come back again to try other chocolates and ice creams! I love that it is a fresh and interesting twist to the bland ice cream options OC has to offer :)

Yes, the chocolates are beautiful and potent. And the service is knowledgeable and accommodating. But my five-​stars is really for the amazing ice cream. With these warm seasons upon us, it should be known that Christopher Michael serves the best handcrafted ice creams in all of Southern California. Rich, creamy, and luscious flavors. You can’t possibly be disappointed. There’s avocado, thai iced tea, chipotle (truly exquisite for the foodies out there), almond and honey, etcetc. Flavors subject to change at whim of course, but every selection will blow your tastebuds away. Call ahead for selection if you are concerned. I’m surprised every time I visit and there isn’t a line out the door.
While the chocolate truffles are pricey to some, the ice cream is only moderately priced. So drive your butt over here and satisfy your sweet tooth!
Tip: the location is hard to find for first timers. After you exit the freeway, you want to cross back over the 55 and make a left. They are in a shopping center right across from the 55 North on-​ramp, so be careful not to get on it. There is no large signage as they are a small boutique. Parking is occasionally tight.

My bf got me a box of Christopher Michael as apart of an anniversary gift. I read a book on how we should start buying locally and fair trade (so the people working in the fields to pick your coca beans is paid fairly compared to how the product is sold!) and I told him I wanted to try fair trade chocolate (trader joes has fair trade organic chocolate bars for $ 1.99! so good).
I was so excited to try it! I don’t always eat chocolate so this review is not coming from someone who LOVES chocolate, but i surely enjoyed this box! I took notes on each chocolate cause I knew I wanted to write a review. Here are some of the notables!:
chipotle & honey ganache: a dark chocolate infused with chipotle peppers & honey. this was actually SPICY! i needed water! Definitely had a kick to it.
rosemary caramel: rosemary infused in a caramel. this has the rosemary kick to it. you can definitely taste it. i personally didn’t enjoy it with the caramel together. the rosemary was sweet and the caramel is its own sweetness.
blood orange caramel: blood orange juice cooked to a caramel. more bloody than orange. very, very soft on the inside
fresh mint ganache: mint infused into a milk choco ganache. very smooth texture. not too minty. quite chewy!
grey sea salt caramel: caramel blended with tahitian vanilla beans & salt. my bf and I loOOVEed this one. i want to go back just to get this one! i think this is their house special, so definitely try it.
PB&J: homemmade strawberry preservative & homemade PB. tarty jam, thick peanut butter. much thicker than normal pb.
the other comments I made on other chocolates were: soft, nice smooth texture, etc. so I enjoyed every one because they tasted so different! I want to go back to try more! support fair trade! support christopher michael! :D

Love does have a price. Its $ 7 for 2.8 oz.
I shameless plugged my favs and how great their chocolate was to a unsuspecting first-​timer who came in looking for the bakery that was once there. He walked out with a few things… but not the bacon chocolate. :(I got a few new items; see pics. Yum!

I’ll be a monkey’s uncle because there is a «golden ticket» and it’s made of bacon chocolate and heart shaped chocolate caramel love drops!

The chocolate is not sold by the pound but by the individual piece. You might be able to calculate how much you think it is, but a pound of this heavenly poison will cost you dearly. Tempting a chocolate addict with this pot of gold, without providing a rainbow to get to it, is just cruel.
HOWEVER, I will buy plenty here for the holiday season. While I don’t want to be addicted to this expensive fix, I will be quite the classy person and well remembered when I give these delights as gifts. I will also return for some of the bacon chocolate and the love kiss and save it for very special moments.
This place ranks in my top five chocolate places ever.
