We have three optometrists who provide the most thorough eye examinations using our state of the art equipment — Dr. Steven Grant, Dr. Kevin Grant and Dr. Cheryl Alderson. Our staff is unparalleled in their friendliness and expertise and will help you find the perfect pair of glasses.

We have a large selection of eye glasses, including Oakley, Maui Jim, Salt, Pucci, Fendi, Betsey Johnson and Christian Dior.

Our office has been located in Costa Mesa for over 35 years. We accept most insurance plans.

Dr. Grant has owned and operated Grant Optometric Group since 1973. He is licensed to use therapeutics in California and has passed the National Board Exam in treatment and management of ocular diseases.

Dr Grant is nationally recognized as an expert in the optometric field. He was Supervising Examiner, Assisant Chief Examiner, and Chief Examiner for the National Board of Optometry. Additionally, he has been an Expert Examineer for the California State Board of Optometry. Dr. Grant has served as President of the California State Board of Optometry.

Dr. Grant is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a Diplomate of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section

Dr. Grant is a member of the Orange County Optometric Society, California Optometric Association, American Optometric Assocation and the Contact Lens Section fo the AOA. He is also a member of the International Boards of Optometry and is a member of its contemporary issues committee.

I came in here about six months ago and I’m not sure why I never reviewed this office. I saw Dr. Alderson and she was able to hook me up with some contacts that enabled me to actually SEE. I didn’t realize how badly my previous Rx had been messed up by the idiots I went to before until I came here. All I know is that I couldn’t see squat and just thought I was going blind or something. Not all eye doc’s are created equal. If you want to see a doctor who actually knows how to fit you with glasses and contacts that help you to see then head on over here. My husband saw Dr. Grant (Jr.) and he liked him. I’ve never seen either of the Grants but I will keep going back to Dr. Alderson since she knows what she is doing.
This office is located next to the Trinity Broadcasting Network. I had trouble parking when I came back to pick up my glasses because the office next door was having an event. According to the girls at the front desk this «NEVER» happens but I had to take my life in my hands, park my car across the street and then RUN across Bear St. to get to the office. We came back the next week to pick up hubby’s glasses and had no trouble parking. The girls in the office were nice and friendly, the selection of glasses is nice and priced on par with other optical offices. I will for sure come back to Dr. Alderson for my annual visit. She even did a test to see if I had dry eyes (I don’t, just allergies) which nobody had ever suggested before.
The only negative is that this office is closed on the weekends. I don’t care, I will take some time off work to come here, my eyesight is worth it.

I went to Grant Optometric on the recommendation of a friend. I waited a couple weeks for an appointment, which I think is very reasonable for any non-​emergency medical appointment. I saw Dr. Kevin Grant, and he was very personable while maintaining a professional atmosphere and quickly running through the examination (but not rushing!). He was candid as to what he thought was worthwhile looking into but always provided me with all the options. I ended up getting a slightly stronger prescription in one eye and waited a few weeks to see how the new glasses (Dr. Grant picked out the frames as a good option, and my girlfriend agreed. Love ‘em.) and the RX is right on. I couldn’t be happier with the total experience and well-​being of going to a knowledgeable optometrist.

I’ve had plenty of optometrists before, but Dr. Kevin Grant takes the cake! He was very welcoming and was more than happy to answer all questions and concerns I had about my eyes. He’s truly cares for his patients and was very informative — I felt like I took a crash course in optometry school once I stepped out of there! Needless to say, I now have a new optometrist and will continue coming back to Grant Optometric Group. Thank you for the outstanding customer service and making me feel like my eyes are absolutely cared for!

Wow, I am appalled by the terrible customer service here. First of all, they told me that my lenses would be ready in 3 days, I called on the 4th day because I had yet to receive a call regarding my lenses. The reception first didn’t have a record of my visit, super unorganized, and she proceded to tell me that my lenses weren’t ready but would be by friday.
Friday came and went, no call. I called on monday and they changed their story! Now all of a sudden they are special lenses and won’t be in until next week.
They knew that already and mislead me twice on the arrival date. Unorganized staff frankly. Rude. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I made an appointment for Dr. Kevin Grant and had such a wonderful experience. Not only is the staff super sweet and nice, Dr. Grant is super awesome! As a new patient you’re always hesitant to switch but I’m glad I did! Dr. Grant gave a great exam and I felt confident with his skill set and knowledge! His office has a great selection of glasses and contacts for us focally challenged peeps! Highly recommend!

Five stars for service and professional manner.
Three stars for availability. I’ve been coming to this office for many years, and never have I seen such difficulty in making an appointment!
They used to have appointment times on Saturday, but now it’s only Monday through Friday. I’ve called several times over the past few months and every time they are booked (and I’m calling for 2 weeks in advance). All they can do is put me on a wait list.
I’m changing optometrists for the simple fact that if I can’t make an appointment that works with my schedule, then it’s time to look at other options.
It’s too bad because I really like the office staff and optometrists.
If you decide to come here, be prepared to have a very flexible schedule and have 3 – 4 weeks to plan ahead for an appointment.

I had a sudden issue with my right eye and called Grant on Monday morning to get in. They got me right in (without an appointment), and I saw Dr. Kevin Grant, the son of Dr. Steven Grant, my regular Opthalmologist. Kevin was very thorough in examining my eye and thought he saw a some tears in my retina, so did a number of further tests to determine what it was. He finally told me he wasn’t comfortable making a diagnosis, so called a Retinologist, Dr. Desmond McGuire, in Santa Ana, to get me right in. I drove over to Dr. McGuire’s office who confirmed Kevin’s suspicion in 15 seconds and was able to treat the tears with a laser which he performed right there in his office. He said several times, «Great call by Dr. Grant». Kevin also called my office and sent me an email to let me know Dr. McGuire had followed up with him. had I not been treated immediately, I could have ended up with a detached retina which would have required surgery. Thank you, Kevin for your excellent diagnosis and follow up!!!

I have been coming to Dr. Grant’s office for about 5 years. I have seen every Dr. that works there (at least, I think I have). Every visit has been great! The staff are all friendly and helpful. I have always been able to get appointments that work best with my work schedule. And most of all, they have provided me with care that helps me see better!

Dr. Grant was very accommodating and informative. I didn’t feel rushed at all so patient care was top notch. He also allowed me to experiment which contact lens prescription would best fit my needs in the real world as my prescription is a high one and working in front of a computer all day with astigmatism in 1 eye and almost needing bifocals because I am nearing that age creates a complex situation. Glad we were able to figure out the best prescription for my needs.

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Kevin Grant for four years now. We are both contract/​glasses wearers and he is the best eye Dr. we’ve even been too. He’s thorough in his examinations and explains things on an understanding level without sounding belittling. He’s also just all around fun!
Not to forget his staff, they are so friendly and welcoming. Every visit is like visiting an old friend.

So I was looking for an optometrist in the area and decided to use Unilocal to help me find one. This place had a bunch of good ratings at the time, and so I decided to try it out. The place is located near South Coast Plaza, right next to the Trinity Broadcasting Network which is this giant beautiful looking building (I don’t think I’ve been inside… maybe I need to check it out). When you turn in, there is parking on the sides and behind the building, and the entrance is on one of the sides.
The front desk people were very nice and when I came in they gave me paperwork to fill out. You provide your insurance card and the like, and then you wait. Then a lady came in to do some preliminary eye exams and finally I went to see Dr. Kevin Grant who did the rest of the vision tests.
I found Dr. Kevin Grant to be very caring and relatable, and he took his time to discover if there were any issues with my vision, and listened to my questions and concerns. I enjoyed the experience a lot and think he did a great job, though I didn’t have any major issues or concerns with my vision.
This place is open every other Saturday I believe, and I think the appointment slots for those days fill up quickly, so I would book in advanced if I needed to go on a Saturday.

I was new to the area and looking for an optometrist. This place had a great review on Unilocal and so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. The office was classy and professional. Overall a great experience. Dr. Grant is very good and easy to work with. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a new optometrist!

I came here (for the first time) for my annual eye check-​up and am very happy with the service. When I made my appointment via phone the first time, they operator was very courteous and helpful.
When I came in for my check-​up the receptionist were friendly. Dr. Kevin Grant (the son) took care of me and was very professional about it. Not the biggest sense of humor but he knows his stuff.
As I was about to leave the assistant went over the cost and explained everything.
Overall, a good experience and I would recommend giving this place a try.

I have been coming to Grant Optometric Group for many years and my experience has been nothing short of extraordinary. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this is by far the best quality of care that I have ever received from any healthcare provider.
For many years, I was a patient of Dr. Steven Grant but more recently his son, Dr. Kevin Grant, has treated me. Both father and son not only gave me a thorough examination, they always explain to me in great detail everything about my treatment, the various options for my care, etc. and patiently answer even the most trivial question that I raise.
When it came time for me to choose new frames, they had a terrific selection of high-​quality, brand name options. I walked looking and feeling great. If you need to see an optometrist, this is definitely the place to do it!
