This is a quaint little authentic Mexican food restaurant. If you are looking for great food, no commercialized taste, but real Mexican flavored food I recommend this spot. The service is humble and as if you are eating in a small pueblo. Great food great service. We love this place.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food restaurant. My favorites are the blackened fish tacos which are a great value at $ 2.35(even better at the Tuesday price of $ 1.50), and any of the torta sandwiches($ 6.75) which are really big enough for two meals. Oh and don’t forget the delicious flan($ 3) for dessert! I highly recommend this restaurant and if you are at the laundromat next door, then stopping in here is your obvious choice.

Friendly af service. Amazing rice and beans. Bomb enchiladas and tacos. House salsa rules. They’re willing to do half green and half red sauce on anything. Love it and will definitely be back again.

If you like burn carne asada… Tacos tasteless. Dirty kitchen. Si te gusta carne asada quemada. Tacos sin sabor. Cocina sucia.

Went here with some friends, overall experience was excellent! The staff was great, the food was great and even the prices were great! The location was a little strange… almost didn’t go in but glad I did! Would highly recommend!

Not sure about the rating. I was not impressed. very average. Maybe it’s just me but there are no good Mexican taco shops in the area, you either need to go to Santa Ana or Long Beach. I’ve pretty much tried all of them and I rather go without then go to any of the places around here.

I’ve eaten at this place several times now for lunch and they never disappoint. They serve large portions for a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and family who are looking to enjoy some really good Mexican food.

I just moved from SF to Costa Mesa and I’ve been looking for a local Mexican restaurant that stands up to the lofty Bay Area standards. La Cañada place definitely holds its own! The service is extraordinarily friendly and attentive, and the pork chile verde was outstanding. The verde sauce was perfectly spicy — not overwhelming. Chips were warm and light, red salsa was legit too. My plate came with refried beans, rice and guac. The beans were awesome and not too chunky like so many other places do it. Hopefully this will become our go-to Mexican spot. Can’t wait to bring the wife here for Round 2!

We FINALLY found authentic Mexican food that is DELICIOUS and REASONABLYPRICED in Costa Mesa!!! Since we found this gem of a restaurant we have been there four times in less than a week. Crazy Good!!! The al pastor is out of this world and the flavor unbelievable and carne asada very good! Going to try the shrimp next… Cannot wait for them to launch their new menu next year!!! Nice, nice people as well!

Service is always awesome! I get treated like family by both brothers who own this place. Very friendly and their blackened fish plate is out of this world delicious. Also try their micheladas they’re made to perfection. My bf gets the caldo de pollo. This place is the best in the area!!!

I love this authentic, local family run restaurant. There’s no SoOC window-dressed Mexican food here. You’ll find simply delicious and flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. There’s a comfortable locals’ feel to this place, but hubby & I are always greeted warmly. We drive from Lake Forest to Costa Mesa just to eat here!

This is my goto place for authentic Mexican food. The place is clean, the service is great and the food is outstanding. I have not had a bad meal to date at this restaurant. It’s cool to walk in and they already know what drinks we get and are ready for us as we sit down. Try this place you will become a regular.

A friend recommended me to try this place. I came to pick up some chicken fajitas and they were really good. They gave me a handful of tortillas which I liked. The cashier was really nice too!

This is a small Mexican restaurant on the outskirts of the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa border on 19 Street. I ordered an al pastor taco that cost $ 2.35. This was not a traditional al pastor taco where the cook slices meat from a rotating hunk of meat similar to a gyro and the server skillfully slices a small piece of pineapple from the top of the hunk of meat which the cook catches in the taco shell. Not here. The meat was dry. There was no distinctive al pastor flavor. And, there was no pineapple. 2 stars for that taco. I also ordered a carnitas taco for $ 2.35. The meat did not have much pork flavor. However, the meat was fairly moist. They provided a good amount of carnitas meat. 3 stars. Lastly, I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. The frijoles were runny and lacked flavor. There was hardly any cheese. 2 stars. Am I a fan? Would I return? No.

This place is an amazing find! It can be intimidating going to such an authentic place when you don’t speak Spanish but that is nothing to worry about here because everyone is SO nice and helpful. The chicken tacos are juicy and perfectly seasoned. Amazing al pastor and carnitas and the beans are to dye for. The price is right too! YUM!

Cheap, authentic mexican food! The menu had a lot of options of good ol’ mexican food and they were all very reasonably priced. There’s also an assortment of mexican drinks to choose from. I saw lots of Mexican cokes around at other tables but I stuck to water. I ordered a carnitas tostada and it was PACKED with goodies! For only $ 3.50, I was surprised that it was actually very filling and delicious. The carnitas was awesome and very tender. The boyfriend got an Asada torta and really enjoyed it. He says the meat was bomb. It was a huge serving too so he only ate half and saved the rest! Service was awesome! Our waitress was attentive and there was an older man walking around checking on every party. We’re very happy to have found a good mexican spot since they’re very rare in Orange County!(unless you’re in Santa Ana) We’ll be back!
