McCormick Guitar Lessons

I’ve been playing guitar for a while but had some huge fundamental holes in my playing (mostly theory/​fundamentals) I had other teachers before who were good guitar players but some of the time looked like they would rather be somewhere else (playing not teaching). After reading Andrews Reviews he seemed like someone who had a passion for teaching not just playing. This turned out to be exactly right. He always gives you 100% of his effort to ensure you get better and has an amazing knowledge of fundamentals. I wish I had a teacher like this when I first learned guitar. I am twice the guitar player I was 6 months ago when I started. Highly recommend

I’ve been taking lesson with Andrew since August 2015; it has been a remarkable journey. I’ve loved listening to modern classical and folksy guitar and I decided to take on the instrument with no previous experience. I had a hard time finding a teacher who was willing to focus on classical style with a heavy focus on music theory without making the lessons too rigid and boring for a beginner.
Andrew’s teaching method is fantastic. He designed lessons specifically for my individual needs, and his method of asking you what type of songs you want to play and incorporating techniques and music theory along the way. He lets me set my own pace, never pushes me too hard, but always nudging just enough to make sure I’m challenge and growing. Aside from learning classical guitar, he would combine other styles of music in our lesson to help me be a well-​rounded student.
If you’re willing to put in the effort to practice and follow his lesson plans you will see progress! I really glad I found a teacher who is equally passionate about music as I am.

I began taking guitar lessons from Andrew McCormick in February 2015, and I was quickly and pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to learn from him. His method of asking you what types of music and what specific songs you want to play, and then tailoring his lessons to suit you is an exciting way to learn guitar. It’s never boring and endlessly repetitious, because he changes things up to keep it fresh and interesting.
He’s always available, always friendly, always encouraging, and always professional. Andrew is very accommodating to your schedule, and willing to work with you to make things happen.
If you want to learn to play guitar, regardless of your age or skill level, and you are willing to put in the work, I very much recommend Andrew McCormick.

I travel a lot for work. Many times I had to miss and reschedule lessons. Andrew has been nothing short of the perfect teacher — knowledgeable, patient and most importantly he makes learning fun. Best beginner ukulele teacher. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would recommend him.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons with Andrew for the last 6 months and have nothing but good things to say. He’s a great teacher, extremely patient and incredibly well versed in a broad range of music. Really enjoyed that he mixed the classes up, some theory, some song playing, even learning how the freestyle jam. Great thing is he lets you know the different online resources you can use to learn songs yourself. Overall, great experience and would recommend him to anyone.

Andrew really is «as good as it gets,» hence the 5 star review. My son is 11 years old, and has been taking ukulele lessons from Andrew for the past several months. My son has never been more enthusiastic about practicing and learning. We have tried a few different teachers and none have even approached the level of expertise and enthusiasm that Andrew exudes at each lesson. This is his passion, this is what he loves, and it shows. HIGHLY Recommend.

Truly the best. Andrew spends the time teaching you the music you want to play. I have a great deal of confidence in him because it’s obvious he knows what he’s doing.
One of the things I really appreciate is how comfortable he makes his students feel. I think an instructor can make a student look forward to a lesson or dread going.
I can’t recommend Andrew enough. You will learn and enjoy doing it. However, he can only do so much — you do have to practice.

Andrew is a joy to learn guitar from! He is so very patient and encouraging. He is always affirming you along the way and helping you to be the best you can be. He is down to earth and not intimidating and he doesn’t make you feel stupid if you don’t get something but meets you where you are at so you can understand it. You can tell he really loves teaching and therefore it makes him even better than he is because it’s not a «job» to him. He is available to you anytime to ask him something or have him send you something you forgot or want to learn. He is the best and I am so happy to have found him. I’ve been playing the guitar for years now, but I felt like I’ve reached a plateau. I wanted some lessons on improvising, and improving my speed for shredding. Andrew was able to gauge my skill level and began our lessons from there. His teaching methodology is great, interactive, and fun for guitar enthusiasts of all levels. I cannot say enough about Andrew. He is professional, patient, flexible, and encouraging. Every time I had a lesson, it finished on a high note. I had a cheap guitar which didn’t motivate me to play after he left, but I can tell you that once I purchase a guitar that makes it worthwhile to play, I will go back to Andrew — no doubt about it.
