My husband has been coming here for the last 4 years and he’s always happy about Mike. So finally I decided to come and since than I’ve been a happy camper. I’ve been coming for almost 2 years and Mike and his crew are Amazing. Their very honest and until now I have not had a problem.

Mike and his crew are top notch. I take all my commercial and personal vehicles here for oil changes and maintenance. They do a 5 star job and only make necessary recommendations.

Horrible experience. I took my car in because the check engine light came on and it was losing power when I accelerated. I chose Mike’s Costa Mesa Auto Repair because my coworker recommended it and said they’re reasonably priced. So I dropped my car off with Mike at 12:30pm, he asked if I needed my car fixed same day, and I said yes. Four hours later with no phone call received, I called to check on the status of the diagnosis. What do they tell me? They still don’t know what the issue is and they may not figure it out until tomorrow morning! So I’m left car-​less for the night and have to make my own arrangements to and from work. The next day, I called at 11:30am since I didn’t receive a courtesy status update call from the shop. What does he tell me? They still don’t know what the issue is! Mike even told me that I had «unrealistic expectations for thinking he could diagnose my car within hours.»
Long story short, I got my car towed to a shop I’ve used in the past and they were able to diagnose the issue within 45 minutes. It turns out that all I needed was a replacement accelerator pedal.
This place doesn’t know what they’re doing and had me waiting and wasting my time. I won’t ever come back and I do not recommend anyone else supports their business.

Best auto repair in the area. Mike and his crew can take care of everything. Fast service and fair prices. You will always get a call with a breakdown of all work that is needed as well what has to be done now and what can wait. Very personal service. Thanks Mike!

Took my Kia optima hybrid in for an odd noise and Michael and his crew figured out the situation quickly. He called me a few times throughout the day to update me on what’s going on. He went far beyond expectations!
Price was extremely fair and my experience was phenomenal! Customer for life!

Could not be happier, I feel like I’m taking the car to my families garage.

I refer all my friends to Mike’s; I’ve brought multiple cars to this place, and in all my experiences they’ve never misidentified an issue or addressed the same problem twice. I really trust these guys, and I also think they have fantastic customer service. Consistently honest, friendly, and fair if you’re looking for auto service in Costa Mesa or anywhere close this is the place to go.

Auto Repair, Brakes, Smog Check and Oil change.
I’ve been going to Mike’s for a long time and so have all of my neighbors and all of our stories are the same he is good and reliable we like and trust him. Mike’s is on the corner on Fairview near the post office. I just got a set of new tires from American Tire on Bristol, love and trust them too, but they don’t do brakes, so I go to Mike’s because I have a squeak and he looks at them and says you don’t need brakes for a year I say while I’m here can you change my oil then and do my Smog Check. They changed my oil and Mike notices my engine stall sometimes when you start it up and I say yeah it’s been doing that for year. So I get a new ignition idle, cost me some dough but my car starts like a new vehicle every time and it is money well spent. Mike has a crew that’ll do a lot of the things but he is always there supervising and they learn from a good mentor also. Two things that are hard to find in this world and honest mechanic and a good dentist. Mike is one of those.

A mechanic I can trust. I’ve been going to Mike’s for about 2 years now for random problems that arise in my car and my family’s cars. Both Mike Sr. and Mike Jr. are always kind and honest about the work they’re doing. I have never had to go back for them to fix what they’ve already fixed and I haven’t had any repeating problems since.
There is no waiting room or anything and the garage holds 4 cars at a time. There is a nice sandwich shop with TVs across the street that you can hang out at.
The smog is a little more expensive than some of the corporate chains.
The fee to check out what’s wrong with your car is usually $ 75 but if you talk with them and agree to a deal, that is easily waived.

I have been coming here for years and they have always been the best and nicest! If your car needs any kind of check up being it to Mike’s!

Horrible. Went in for a simple coolant leak in Oct 2013, within 1 month to the date same issue go back. This time coolant literally coming out of 3 different areas. Car smoking, pull over, strangers helping me. How on earth? Go back again, shovel out more $. Same thing happened again in March 2014. THREE times to this place for 1 problem. I just carry coolant with me and fill it, b/​c I don’t know where to go. The place was recommended by a family member’s co-​worker. Sometimes I get the feeling fantastic reviews are friends, etc. This place is horrible. Don’t know where to go now, not going back here for a fourth time. these mechanics must be so rich. You’d think they could afford to buy good parts. It’s in a poor area of costa mesa. Pleas save yourself some pain and money-​they don’t fix ac but DO NOT take their recommendation on another little hole in the wall that fixes ac (but sometimes only in the winter) Stay away people. Don’t trust positive reviews on Unilocal.With the amount of time I see people writing 100s of reviews and they’re always positive I’d say there is some money in the Unilocaling biz. What normal people have time to sit and write 100s of positive reviews? Me thinks not. I drive a Volkswagen. If you don’t have Bosch parts, don’t take my $ please be honest with a female customer who knows nothing about cars. If you know it’s a Volkswagen specific issue and I don’t-honesty is always the best policy. Unreal and I’m being extremely honest with my review-​they could not fix the leak. Update: Luckily last summer a male client gave me the heads up on cities to stay away from to avoid taking a huge hit, as well as a place that guaranteed 100% honesty; took it to a place in Santa Ana where issue was fixed and stayed fixed.

I’ve only been here once, but I had a great experience. They got me in and out with new brakes ahead of schedule, at a very fair price.
No up sell or fear mongering whatsoever. They were simply courteous, honest, and efficient. I think they subscribe to the revolutionary philosophy that it’s better to have return customers that you treat fairly than one-​time customers that you gouge for every penny. Bravo!
It’s a bare-​bones shop. Come prepared if you’re going to wait for your car to be serviced. There’s no lobby. Don’t expect to sprawl out with your laptop or watch TV. There’s no coffee machine. In fact, there are no amenities at all, but that’s a very small sacrifice.
I’ll definitely return.

Great, honest people. I get my oil changes here all the time and just got my brake pads changed. Every visit has been pleasant.

Professional and honest, two of the most important traits of any body shop. I was very impressed by Mike’s Costa Mesa Auto’s service and professionalism.
I went in for a brake change, and after the inspection I was informed that my brakes were still in good condition; I only needed maintenance done. Furthermore, they found a problem with my struts, and informed me that it was not an emergency. They were completely upfront with me and did not push me to have my car serviced right away. This is the type of honest shop that I would return to.
Definitely would recommend.

So after reading the reviews on this I called to do some price checking and was just laughing. I’m sorry this a horrible review.
I asked the girl on the phone for a price check on something. and she put me on hold. I thought okay… she’s new. NO problem. Then. I asked for a price check on an oil change… and… I was put on hold again. A few other mistakes were made. I was really wondering if she’d ever heard of my car. I might still try this place someday. but after reading the stories. and talking to their «representative». I’m a little frightened.
Maybe they do a really great job but perhaps some more phone time training for miss J.
Update: Went back for a service and it was pretty quick and painless. The other person at the counter seems more professional. It’s a definite place to go in a jam. They’re not gonna rip you off. But. I might get a second opinion on some things that they «noticed»

Mike and his crew are awesome.
I have been bringing in my truck for over 7 yrs for oil changes and other vehicle problems.
I have never been ripped off or have felt there prices are outrageous.
This last time I brought in my truck for a front brake job.
As always the price was better than most all garages.
Thanks Mike and staff for keeping up the great fast and fair prices for the working man.

My room mate and I have been going to Mike’s for over 8 years and they are great guys. We both drive old, crappy cars and these guys keep them running for us. The prices are fair, the mechanics are efficient and they explain things to customers without using car language that nobody understands. After deviating to go to other mechanics for a while, I realized that I should have NEVER cheated on Mike’s. A lot of other mechanics price really high for repairs that Mike’s will do just as well and for less.

I am new to Costa Mesa. So when i cracked my oil pan i did not know were go. i call
5 places for a estimate. Mike call me back the fasted and the lowest price. when i ask how long my car was going to be down for. Mike reply back with he can fix it today. When all other places said 2to3 day’s
When my car was in the shop i know antifreeze was low and i had a directional was burn out they fix the small issue for me and did not say a thing or charge me for it this. I am appreciate how professional they are.
When i pick up my car the cost was the same as estimate. i am thankful for this

Another big fan of Mike’s Auto Service here. I think what I like the most about them is that they don’t oversell repairs. They seem like the first honest mechanic that I have ever dealt with.
A couple days ago, they replaced our water pump and a timing belt. The price was affordable and the service was great.
My whole family goes to them and we have no hesitations in referring them to others.
Only complaint is how small the shop is… haha. Kind of hard to drive in and park when they are busy. They need to expand!

My car had suddenly picked up a quiet but noticeable metallicy, grindy noise that would occur at low speeds for about a week. Damn it! I don’t know much about cars, but my first thought was that my brakes were going (very) bad.
I live close to Mike’s, and drive by very often. I had been curious what all the hype was for a while. His tiny lot is always packed to the brim with cars, and I oftentimes see his crew still working until past 7 or 8pm on Fridays. I figured this little «hole in the wall» auto shop must be legit.
I dropped off my car, expecting to spend hundreds at a minimum by the end of the day. In explaining the problem, I suggested my brake concept.
Mike called me a few hours later to let me know that not only were my brakes fine, the sound was merely a pebble stuck between the brake pad and the somethin-​or-​other. After they put my brake back together, I came in to pick my car up. Mike fully explained the issue and even saved the pebble to show me the culprit! I only ended up paying the initial estimate of $ 37. What a deal! Mike easily could easily told me I needed my front or rear brakes completely redone, and I sheepishly would have signed off on almost anything.
In a relationship, nothing is more important than trust. Given my experience with Mike, I’m sure our relationship will last for years to come!
