Mikimoto

Five star pieces, five star service.
This is a beautiful store and the pearls are legendary. Fortunately I got to work with the assistant manager, Gerard Kouyoumdjian. I did not want to spent a bundle, and Gerard was sensitive to my needs. He could not have been more helpful and attentive. Most importantly he dis not do a hard sell. I REALLY do not respond well to that.
I got a beautiful pearl pendant for my wife and she loved it!

AMAZING service. Came in with my brother after working out at the gym and despite our dingy outward appearance, we still got really fantastic service (can’t say that about a lot of the higher end stores in South Coast). We were looking to replace a necklace for our mom from the Eden collection and Jade, our salesperson, went the extra (ten) miles to help us find the exact necklace since it’s a limited edition. It took a few days, but throughout the entire time, Jade kept us updated and even gave us a Mikimoto candle as a «thank you» for being a customer at the end of everything. She even went as far as to wrap the necklace in a gift box (beyond the usual blue box) complete with ribbon and other Mikimoto décor. It was greatly appreciated and if you stop by, make sure you ask for Jade! We’ve dealt with other sales personnel in the past and no one compares to Jade!!!
Pricing at Mikimoto is a little steep, but it’s well worth the quality and the service you receive not just during your shopping experience but for as long as you own your Mikimoto product.

Summary based on 1 visit:
–decent selection for a fairly small outlet
–ok service for Mikimoto, not as good as some of the other stores in the US or in Asia
–great product
–prices in line with quality
–easy parking in adjoining lot

As good as it gets for high end pearls.

My gf & I went in dressed in very casual attire. We’re also young.
We didn’t even go in here to buy something new. I had to ask them to repair one of my mom’s necklaces that my dad bought for her like 10 years ago. You would think that at a place like South Coast Plaza, they wouldn’t wanna bother with kids like me, let alone treat me with the utmost respect.
Gerard gladly helped us out with his charming voice and accent, gave us an estimate and explained what the process will be and how long it will take for the necklace to be repaired. His employee also did an excellent job at explaining how/​why my mom’s necklace got so damaged, and how to better take care of the pearl when we receive the pearl replacement.
2 weeks later i got a call, with a price that was different from their estimate. I briefly explained to them about the discrepancy in their estimate vs the actual price they were charging — Gerard didn’t hesitate to charge me any more than what he had told me before in his estimate, and apologized for the mix up. In the future, if i ever need to purchase any pearl-​related product, this is definitely going to be the first go-​to place for me.

I did my fair share of research about pearls online prior to stepping foot into Mikimoto but I soon discovered that there was no need for that.
Thereza Britton did an excellent job educating me on everything there is to know about pearls. She was very helpful in my quest to find my wife some pearl earrings and absolutely professional.

christmas is coming and my birthday is not too far away. i won’t protest to a strand of mikimoto pearls as a gift. how can i say no when you make me feel lovely, elegant, classy, graceful, stunning, divine and refined. and don’t you worry about making me feel old. i can handle it… i am a mature woman.
now, i must come up with some excuses for not going to south coast plaza with my mother. when she finds out about this store, she sure will come up with more adjectives for why she NEEDS the mikimoto pearls!!!
