Penny’s Pup Wash

Not sure how I haven’t reviewed penny’s yet but this place is wonderful! I bring my bear here once a month for a deep cleaning. Penny’s provides an array of brushes, shampoos, toothbrushes, toothpaste, air dryers, nail polish, etc to pretty up your pup. Now, my boy doesn’t get any nail polish but he does get a nice warm bath with a combination of their gentle shampoo & conditioner blend all over with whitening shampoo on his belly, chest, tail and legs. Their shampoos are great, I’ve noticed a huge decrease in the amount of scratching/​self mutilation via hot spots since we’ve started coming here. They also have 2 hurricane force blow dryers outside which can handle even the furriest of pups — case in point, my Husky/​Shep. Prices have gone up a little to $ 18 which makes me a little sad, but for the location, service and supplies, price can’t really be beat. Please no more price increases though! We’re almost to our first free wash, hooray!

Home sweet home feeling, great service, great location and has everything to make our dog beach day end on a nice aromatic scent!

My dog, Stanley, usually hates getting washed but he LOVED it at Penny’s! We can’t wait to go back!

This place is great !!! The old fashioned tubs are not only hip but VERY functional. The tubs can accommodate any size dog (or 2 at the same time) Staff super helpful. They have all the supplies required to give my little Coco dog a good bath: oatmeal soap for sensitive skin, brightening shampoo and tearless face wash, aprons, brushes and blow dryers.
Not to mention Penny the pup is adorable !!

This is such a great place! Justine was so helpful, she stayed late to help us with our rescue dog! I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking! Such a great environment, clean, cute and they provide everything!

Owner rushes the washes and not friendly. Only caters to regulars. Didn’t get a good through wash so won’t be back

Soo much easier to do it here than at home!

Love coming here! We do the $ 15 DIY wash and give them a little tip since they clean up after you once you’re finished! Nice, clean and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Penny’s is the absolute best in town! I have been bringing my baby here since last year and would never think of taking him elsewhere. The products that are offered are great and help make your dog smelling good for days. Jason is so friendly and professional and you can tell that dogs are his passion. And not to mention, Penny is a doll! Thanks again Jason for helping keep all the doggies in OC clean!

I have been taking my two yorkies here for the past 8 months or so. After a bad experience with a damaged eye-​ball we decided to change places.
The groomers are so amazing and caring with my two babies. I love that they can roam around and aren’t confined to cages all day.
I have had my fair share of bad York hair cuts and bad «report cards» from groomers with these two– but here we have only had the best.
I have also used the self-​serve wash. Super convenient for big dogs and was a fun outing for us– but we usually just wash them in the sink and take them to get hair cut every 8 weeks or so.

My kids and I tried out the DIY dog wash after taking our dog to the beach. Jason was very friendly and showed us all the products included. We brought our own shampoo but they had flea shampoo, aloe shampoo, tearless face wash, whitening shampoo, conditioner, cotton balls, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and towels. Also, they have a great dog dryer. It dries your dog in 15 minutes as opposed to an hour using a regular blow dryer on a low/​cool setting. Jason also picked up our 60 lb labradoodle to get him in the tub because our dog refused to use the steps to get in.
They also offered a DIY allergy testing kit where you swab your dog’s mouth and send in a patch of hair. Our dog has always been a little itchy but lately it’s been non-​stop. We are still waiting for results and I’m hoping it might give us some insight before I have to subject him to allergy testing and steroids at the vet.
The place is super cute and very cozy. It is tucked in the very back of the building near Kentucky Fried Chicken. Drive to the back of the parking lot and you will see a surf board with Penny’s Pup Wash on it.
We will be back for the DIY but I can’t wait to try the professional groomer there. Every dog that came out of the groomers looked super cute and the prices seemed reasonable compared to other groomers.

This place is awesome. We bring our pup here for self grooming and it’s way easier then at home.
We also take him to groomer here and they do such an amazing job.
I cannot recommend this place enough — self grooming or with their groomer!

This place is great! Just what I wanted in a DIY dog wash.
Took my corgi Marshal here, and usually he is not so keen on baths, but he got right in the bath and did great.
The facility is very inviting and warm and cozy, and they provide everything for you!
We will be back for many more visits

Took my 8 month yorkie for a much needed hair cut.
I read the Unilocal reviews and decided to set up an appointment. Unfortunately there was a misunderstanding with my appointment. I thought I had it set up for Thursday at 9am but when I arrived to drop off my pup; Jason, the owner, was just getting there to open up shop. He had actually set up my appointment for Friday at 9am – woops!
He was cool about it though and very understanding, he even let me drop off my pup while the groomer got there. About 2hrs later pup was ready. I Couldn’t have been more happy with the results! Definitely coming back. Owner and the lady groomer were very friendly!

This place is rad! In the 15months of having my dog I tried other groomers and this one is simply special. First, the environment is calming for the dog… it is like they are in a house because you are indeed in a house in a business setting. Second, you have choices… you can wash your dog yourself with all essentials & extras you need for $ 15 or you can chose to drop your dog off for full grooming at a super reasonable cost. Plus Michelle is patient, detailed and sweet. Third, you have Penny and friends. She is a great ambassador and makes the dogs feel at home on her dog house. Again, this place is rad!

I would have to say this is by far the best dog groomers I have been to. Thank you Jason and staff for being so patient with me. After subjecting my pet to a year long search for the right groomer; finally we have seemed to find the perfect one. I can’t utter again how much I appreciate the work that was done on my precious mini schnauzer. He is now ready for the holidays!

Best grooming place and experience ever!!! They do not keep your dogs in the cages while waiting for grooming, they let them play around in their store, and they have so many art pieces about doggies, that you don’t really find any commercial meaning but a truly dog lover. Fair charge and nice staff, I certainly would recommend it to my friends and everybody! They also have a self serve grooming, cute bathtubs and only $ 15! Really want to try it next time haha.
I sent my dog yesterday for the first time grooming here and Michele, the groomer, really made my day by making my boy like a show dog! She is very nice and also professional, you can tell her professional skills by those after grooming pictures, not many groomers could do that kind of jobs, I went to so many groomers looking for an appropriate Bichon Frise haircut, and Michele is the only one make that so perfectly! This place will definitely be my first choice!

Awesome find! My regular dog groomer was unavailable today and I was desperate as I’d let my wheaten terrier play in the ocean this morning… anticipating shed be groomed!
That led me to Unilocal and Penny’s Pup Wash on 17^th Street… such a cute place for grooming or wash yourself
They got McKenna right in and bathed/​brushed out in no time for 30.00.couldn’t be happier, already set appt for next week!!!
