The Samueli Theater is one of the performing arts center’s more intimate spaces. My fiancé and I came here tonight to hear NYC’s Emerson String Quartet. Virtousity itself! The space seats around 300 or so, not 1000+. So, you get to see the artists’ facial expressions(what a delight) and how they are communicating amongst themselves. The seats are wonderfully comfortable chairs on risers. A little steep to climb up, and traffic congestion inducing. There is a lovely concessions bar. If you want to enjoy a tasty cocktail whilst here. The ushers were phenomenally rude, both in the ticket logging doors, and the pentultimately rude usher who after the gentleman on the aisle graciously rose to allow 2 ladies to get to their seats, physically cut him off from from retaking his seat, then harrassed him to clear the aisle, whike still blocking him, and get back in his seat. The patron nearly left before the performance started over this. Wonderful artists here. Pull. Better ushers from their reserves.
