Surfside Sports has been in business since 1975. We are located in Costa Mesa, CA. (The heart of the surf, skate, and snow industry). Surfside Sports is an iconic retailer in action sports, and has been a pioneer retailer for most manufacturers in the industry. Surfside was originally located on the Balboa Peninsula for over 30 years’ until we moved up the hill to Costa Mesa in late 2006. Our new store is over 17,000 square feet and is filled with your favorite surf, snow and skate brands. If you are in the southern California area come in and say hi to our friendly and knowledgeable crew of over 40 people!

History

Established in 1975.

Surfside was originally located on the Balboa Peninsula for over 30 years. In late 2006 we moved up the hill to 17th street in Costa Mesa to better serve our community of surfers, snowboarders and skateboarders.

Little upset my Xmas gift broke. Got a watch from the GF and had to take my new watch in to get returned. Not even 5 days after the purchase my Freestyle watch cell apart. We took it in and they said we have to wait 2 weeks while they send it in to see if they warranty it. I am in retail and if my products broke in less than a week I would refund or return. Not like it was a cheap watch, I believe it costed around $ 75.00 bucks but still the customer service was not the best. On the bottom of the receipt it says 30 day return policy! Let’s see how the outcome is.

Madison helped me out today. Not only did they give me a new watch they let get something a little nicer. I ended up getting an Electric watch and I am stoked!!! I also grabbed a set of Electric shades for the chica. Thanks for the help and great customer service!

I don’t typically go to shops like this but I went with a friend. Instantly we were greeted and helped. They remembered my buddy from a visit 2 years ago. I really wasn’t buying anything but I felt welcomed as well. You can definitely tell this store is a pillar of the community.

Best spot for any surfer or overall grom! I don’t shop anywhere else. All my outfits can be found at surfside. From RVCA to Brixton to Hurley, they have everything here. I’ve even bought other items here such as a skateboard and backpack, and they were great as well. I’ll continue to do all my shopping at Surfside to make sure I’m always dressed fresh!

I came here because the toe ladder snapped on my Flow bindings and I needed a quick repair. I called the store and Robert told me they didn’t carry Flow anymore but they still had Flow parts and for me to come in and see what they could do. Turned out that their Flow parts didn’t match mine. Joe searched high and low and was able to find a Burton toe ladder that would work for my bindings. When I asked how much I owed, they wouldn’t take my money after repeated offers. The least I could do is leave them an excellent review, they deserve it!

I am new to California and am looking for all new snowboard gear for this coming season. I was very excited that Surfside had everything I want in one store. I walked in, nobody said anything to me. The employees just looked at me. I was looking at all the boards that are put away, and no one came over to help me look at them or take them down to try out. I then moved to the snow clothing section and still the employees knew I was looking but did not come up to me to see if I needed help, or wanted to see something. I honestly wanted to purchase all my gear there but I am so bumbed that the staff seemed to think I was «unworthy» of their time. I never write bad reviews but I can not believe the staff was so rude. I was so stoked to buy a few thousand dollars worth of gear and now I will have to find somewhere else to go. Thanks for the terrible service Surfside.

Surfside is a great surf shop. There are lots of helpful employees and some big dogs (literally) patrolling the store. THey have everything from snow to surf. I saw a variety of brands from young to old — volcom to Tommy Bahama. Pickles is the big white dog. She is a good girl.
I saw they had a good selection of bikinis and got a new one. THey had alot of playful sun dresses. I bought those too. I tried to think of something I did not like about this place, but I can not. Keep up the great service.

I don’tujsually look for surf wear at inland places, but this is right across the street from my Spin Studio FULLPSYCLE on 17th street, and they were having a big sale… hard for my spin buddy to resist!
Disclaimer Alert: I did check in here on Unilocal,and the freebie that came up is nonexistent. Nada. None. (They sales people didn’t even recognize the item!) So I hate when that happens!
The place is cool, beachy like, in a Jack’s Surf Shop kind of way. If yoou can’t make it to Huntington, this works. If you CAN make it to Huntington, I’d recommend Huntington Surf and Sport! More surf stuff there, and less skater brands… not that theres anything wrong with skaters, just surfing rules!

Their website and speaking to them on the phone doesn’t give this place enough justice. I made a visit here to shop for snowboarding gear and man was I overly satisfied with the customer service I got.
First up was my friend, someone starting from the ground up in terms of everything there is to go snowboarding and own your own stuff. He had obvious questions, but the sales associate went far and beyond to help him feel comfortable and a little more knowledgeable on the basics. She must’ve spent half an hour on him when already knowing he wasn’t going to buy anything just yet, but keep an open mind and do more research before he commits to anything. I was pleased with how she helped me and offered advice when I didn’t even ask her more questions when I found out the boots I wanted weren’t in stock. As for my boyfriend, he did his research and just wanted to see a pair of bindings in person. He was stuck between three and once again, without any frustration or biases, her assistance and patience got him to walk out with bindings at even the lowest cost he’s seen them.

Aside from our personal experience, this store has a wide variety of just about… everything. It’s pretty big and something is sure to catch your eye. Way better than CBS boardshop in Lake Forest.

It’s that time of year and I am going into places I most likely would not visit. Yesterday I popped into this store and there were 2 guys at the door to greet me. I was not sure where to go and one of them immediately helped me with my list. Darn me for not remembering his name but he was super helpful. The store is filled with tons of surf/​skate items and is quite large. There were plenty of people on the floor to help and everyone was very nice. I was surprised at how much of the clothing sections were filled with choices. They also have a huge selection of sandals too. Prices were typical of a surf shop and since I only focused on the men’s section next time I will check out the woman’s. Overall the shopping experience due to the great service left me impressed.

There is a big floor space here, and a ton of surf brands ranging all across the spectrum. A huge watch selection, as well as sunglasses and boardshorts.
I definitely come here if I want to browse what some of the newest styles are, but honestly, the prices are ridiculous. I feel like everything here is always full price, and I can easily find a lot of this gear on the internet for much cheaper.
The staff is usually friendly, with a greeter at the door to help you out. I’d potentially come here more often if there were ways to make the prices more reasonable.
