Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Council Bluffs-I-29

I’ve stayed at this hotel twice so far while traveling on business. It’s clean and comfortable and has a nice gym.
BUT… The Wifi internet connection is painfully slow. It had me looking up my old AOL account to get a faster connection. I couldn’t get any work done.
Also, half the channels on the TV did not work.
These problems are easily fixed. Maybe a speedy internet connection and a new cable company can help this establishment get more 5 star reviews.

Service was great! Desk workers were incredibly friendly and shuttle was fast and always ready.
Hotel showed some age, but overall very nice. Pool was huge, and I think saltwater. Hotel connected to casino, which offers several restaurants and bars.
Impressed for price paid.

Check in extremely complicated, took 35 minutes. Ordered room service, offered certificates for payment & was a huge issue. Manager wasn’t sure it was legit. Big ordeal. Then they tried charging our cc for the room service without permission. Been here 1 hour.

My stay here was just fine. No problems, nice spacious king-​bed room. Quiet hallways, and exterior. Connects to the casino to easy access to spending money and/​or eating the buffet.
If in the area again, I will stay here.

Clean, well attended hotel, but some of the amenities are a little dated and not functioning at 100%. Of particular issue was the plumbing in the bathroom, which did not drain properly (shower or sink) and made strange gurgling noises throughout the night. The heater unit was super loud, and we couldn’t tell if the mini fridge was really working. Also, do NOT eat the powdered eggs or breakfast sausage in the continental breakfast. You’ve been warned.
I think our biggest complaint however was that the entire place kind of smelled like either cigarette smoke or indoor pool chlorine.

NEVER have I stayed in a hotel like this! My room was terrible. The bathtub did not drain, there was no hot water, and the toilet was plugged. I immediately voiced my concerns to a sloppy, inarticulate, inattentive front desk clerk who was in the back room taking a nap. In addition, the hotel wad dirty. A run down nightmare.

We stayed here on 1−31−13. We arrived, amid snow and ice. The parking lot was like an ice skating rink! The clerk was courteous and helpful. They have a nice area in the front. However, that was about it.
The small refrigerator was not working in our room. I had to have that replaced. There were little critters in the room (spiders — yes, more than one, a centipede, etc). I don’t normally come across these little guys in hotels anymore. I don’t know if it is because the hotel is older or if the snow/​ice had anything to do with it OR if they had not sprayed for a while. Either way, finding a spider in your toiletries container when you are barely awake early in the morning is quite startling — especially when you examine it for bugs every day during trips.
The room smelled clean. The beds were okay. We just needed a place to sleep and then keep traveling west in the morning. The room was nice and warm. It was about –2 or so during the night. I’ve never felt anything so cold. Check out was quick.
The huge pool and the connection to the other hotel was a nice plus, so you didn’t have to go outside in the freezing weather.
I am not sure I could stay here again because I am put off by the unwanted pests. I have no issues with it being older. Otherwise, decent place.

Pretty nice room for the rate. Older hotel but remodeled. I felt very safe with the parking lot lighted well and a guard driving around all night. I slept really good. The room was clean and a good size. The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Very nice lobby, easy to get to off of 29. I was just passing through, stayed one night. Hope this helps.

We were a little bit frustrated that this hotel was under construction during our visit. The lobby was loud and disorganized, and the walkway to the casino was closed. At check in, the front desk ladies seemed distracted, and answered a ringing telephone while I was mid-​sentence. No, «excuse me one moment» or anything… Seriously people, what happened to customer service?
Our room was nice enough; we had a Jacuzzi tub which was awesome after a night at the casino. Another small inconvenience due to the renovation was that we had to go to the adjoining hotel for our complimentary continental breakfast.
Due to the poor customer service and the inconveniences caused by the renovation that we were unaware of when we booked the hotel, I would not stay here again.

I had no idea I was in Iowa!
Found a nice room, a reasonable rate & it was connected to the Ameristar Casino, which btw, did not smell like cigarettes! Yay on all counts: D
The hotel was being renovated, but other than the lobby looking a hot mess, the rest of the hotel was fine & there was no noise :)

Shower that has power… check.
Comfy bed… check.
Easy web connect… check.
Friendly staff… check.
Right next to the Ameristar casino and river trails network. Good river views on the back side of the hotel.
