Specialties
The Salty Dog Bar & Grill is a casual, clean, and, inviting neighborhood bar and grill. We are known for having the best and biggest chicken wings in the Omaha/Council Bluffs metro area. Nearly everything on the menu is house made. Our Prime Rib Philly is made with choice prime rib that is roasted to perfection and sliced thin with sautéed mushrooms, peppers, and, onions with Swiss cheese melted on top. Our steaks are cut to order in house and prepared on our char broiler. Stop in for some dinner or to catch a game on one of our 20 HD televisions including a 110″ HDTV behind the bar. «See You Tomorrow!»
History
Established in 2009.
The Salty Dog came to fruition in 2009 when the owners purchased «The Longest Yard». After an extensive renovation the owners were out of money for a new sign. Thinking outside the box they realized The Longest Yards sign on the building consisted of individual «cans» and the letters could be jumbled around. After a few hours of brainstorming (and a few beers!) the «The Salty Dog» was born. In the beginning The Salty Dog was more bar than restaurant serving a very limited appetizer menu. As time went on hamburgers were added then sandwiches. Many of The Salty Dog’s patrons requested chicken wings, but, with 3 big corporate wing concepts in the immediate vicinity there was no way The Salty Dog believed it could compete. Eventually, wings were added, but, these were unlike any other wings in town. CharBuff wings are grilled after they are fried. This crisps up the skin, however, they remain moist and juicy because of their large size.
