History

Established in 1991.

Flying High opened in June of 1991 in a tiny building in Brookfield. Through word of mouth, we have grown from 30 students to over 1,000 in the twenty years we have been teaching!

We are currently celebrating our 22nd year of business. What started as a gymnastics facility has morphed into a fully equipped sports and rec center. In addition to gymnastics, we now offer martial arts (in the form of Tae Kwon Do), dance, cheer, special events, camps, adult fitness classes and much, much more.

The success of the gym is due largely to Flying High’s beliefs, love for the sport and love for children. Gymnastics is an absolutely amazing sport. Gymnastics can be deemed amazing simply by watching the skills performed. However, there many other incredible things gymnastics can bring to a child’s life.

Even though we have grown in size over the years, one thing has not changed — the family atmosphere and our philosophy that «Every Child is a STAR».

My Name is Christine. I have been the owner of Flying High since it opened in 1991. I opened the gym when I was 19. At the time, there were very few gymnastics centers in the area. While gymnastics has always been my passion and something that came naturally to me, running a business was an adventure for me. I can tell you, a boring day does not exist in my world! I am always learning, and mostly from your children!

My name is Laura. My background began at Flying High when I was a junior in high school. At the time I was just a high school kid looking for some extra cash. Now, almost 10 years later, I truly believe I have found what I want to do with the rest of my life. I do know how lucky I am. I can sit in my office and deal with the daily stresses of helping to run a business and then walk out into the gym and talk about one of my 3 yr old’ gerbils for 10 minutes…

I have been here for a couple birthday parties. The staff is clueless, lazy, and RUDE. There is no supervision. The equipment is old. The facilities are FILTHY.
The most recent party we went there for, my wife put the event in the calendar on the wrong day and we showed up a day early (clearly our fault, we take blame for that part). I didn’t have the invite with me, so two staff said they didn’t have a party for that person that day and said they would look it up. A minute later, they said without any doubt that the party was at their other location in Hickory Hills, so we loaded up and drove 20 minutes out there. Got there and they said they also didn’t have a party for that person. The lady there looked it up and said that it was the following day in Countryside, where we started. No one apologized and the manager looking lady who was standing in earshot simply said, «it’s so tough being a parent». The next day when back in Countryside, I brought up the issue with the Countryside people that they sent me an hour out of my way for no reason. They didn’t seem to care. No apology.

I just had my daughter’s fifth birthday party here. All the kids came back sweaty and ready to eat so they must have had a good time… To preface, we had a party of 25 kids, 30 adults. They give you eating space for kids, adults stay standing or go find seating outside of the room.
PROS: the actually activities for the kids was great. everyone had a great time, everyone came back upstairs smiling and happy.
CONS: bring help to set-​up, our hostess helped putting the table covers on and the plates we did the rest. My mom and aunts and a few friends helped me set up the snack table, food tables and the giveaway/​gift table. The upstairs could do a major remodel. The floor looked dirty, the seats were dirty, shabby looking. The bars in the party room were uneven almost looked like they were about to fall off the walls and floors inside the party room where just worn and old.
The main thing is that my daughter and her friends had fun. If you have help to setup and get the food ready and everything put out and decorated, then come here. If you want stress free, no setup/​cleanup, don’t have to worry about cake, decorations or food then go somewhere like chuck e cheese.

We love flying high! All 3 of my kids, ages 6,5 and 3 have taken classes here or are currently taking classes, and they all loved it. We haven’t had a bad teacher, but our favorites are Ms Andy for the bigger kids and ms Natalie and Ms Meg for the younger ones.
We go to classes during the day to avoid the crowds in the late afternoon/​early evening and it’s great. Never had more then 6 kids in the class!
The toddler open play (5 or younger)! during the week is pretty great, $ 5 for an hour and a half of play time! Especially in winter it’s a great way to burn off some energy for the kids. Yes, there are beams and ways for your kid to get hurt, so you need to keep an eye on them, just like you would anywhere else. We love coming here!

My nephews just had a party this afternoon and the host, Bridgette, was awesome! There were a lot of us in our party but Bridgette was so hands on. She took initiative and found tasks to do for us, from serving our guests to helping us pass out goodie bags. Bridgette made my nephews’ party such a success being so patient, gracious and helpful throughout the entire party. Thanks again!

I have been to several kids parties here and always the same problem. This place is extremely smelly (like a dog kennel) and dirty. My kids always seem to get sick (flu like symptoms) every time they go to a birthday party. This place is a breading ground of germs and needs some serious disinfectant. Some of the bathrooms had no soap to wash your hands and then nothing to dry them with. There was kids socks laying around in the play area. That made me think they don’t clean up between parties. One of the party rooms was not very clean as I saw cake crumbs on the floor. We mentioned it to the staff and they said someone would be up to clean it. Nobody ever came to clean the room. Very disappointed,

This place is AWFUL! I thought I was getting a good deal by purchasing the groupon for 2 of my kids to have lessons and I bought the open play. I was wrong. One class is with my 2.5 yr old (mommy and me) It is OVER CROWDED! Literally 2 2 yr olds with moms in a tight space where the teacher says hello to everyone, then shows you 2 obstacle courses and explains it once and then tells everyone to start anywhere they want! It is nuts, and NO instruction given to the kids. So its just useless.
The other class was for my 5 yr old and it was over crowded. They have these kids on the high beams with little supervision. I was waiting for a broken arm. Also my daughter was so frustrated bc she couldn’t master something and started to get teary eyes. Again, no supervision. When spoke with her teacher she gave me nothing. Horrible. On top of it the place is fithy and the staff is clueless.
Open Gym: Worse mistake. They make you sign a gazillion waivers for a reason. Says for kids 5 and under. Clearly there are older kids here. It is NUTS! Literally probably 100 kids running all over the place, and on top of it, you get parents who aren’t paying attention to their kids or the parents who are overly crazy etc. It is a nightmare.
This is NOT a deal. It STEALS your money! It says its 25.00 a class etc, but then they make you pay a sign up fee of 35.00 a child. So it really is 60.00 to start. Then you don’t even want to go again, let alone more sessions!

I’m not sure why this facility only has 6 reviews with the high level of business’s this place has. This place has disappoint me over and over again. First is really dirty, the front desk employees are clueless. The classes are so crowded .I had invested so much money in this place with no positive outcome. Between gymnastic, Dance and Karate. 4 weeks in to the session and I’m still waiting for a karate uniform for my son and no one seems to know the answer. It seems that all they care about is the payments. My payments are always on time with no problem yet the constant emails and the posters they put all over the place make you feel uncomfortable. My daughter also took several classes about 3 years ago and was not happy. I don’t know why I’m back here again.

Not worth it. Stood for 20 minutes and left. Too many people, too many kids, not what it advertised online. It’s supposed to be for kids 5 & under but there were older kids there. It’s unorganized and the cubby holes are not locked. I don’t think this place is good for open play at all. Go down a few blocks to The Max — much better!

Flying High seemed great 5 years ago when we first signed up our daughter. What it has become is not so great. We left years ago because the only thing they seemed to worry about was our payment. Although our payments were always on time they would constantly pressure us to sign up for auto-​pay. The prices are high for the service. The front desk employees are not helpful at all. I went on a Saturday to sign up my son and although the place was full they said they were only there for birthday parties and I would need to return Monday. I would suggest calling to sign up but no one will ever answer. Which would lead me to believe they are very busy. If they are so busy and the classes are so expensive, where does all the money go? It looks exactly the same as we left 4 years ago paint and all. They added what looks like some furniture they bought from yard sales here and there. The owner hasn’t put anything back into the Countryside facility. It’s dirty and smelly but I guess you can get away with that if your the only game in town.

This was the best $ 5 I ever spent. Thursday 12:30 — 1:30 tot open gym. The two, almost 3 year old I watch HAD-​A-​BLAST. Tons of things to tire them out, very clean, considering about 5000 kids go through a day. Very friendly staff and fun stuff for the kids to do. You can mostly sit and watch them run and play. This was the best «kids» thing we have done so far. Knocked her out dead asleep for going on two hours now!

We recently went here for a kid’s birthday party and the kids had a blast. My kids range from age 7 – 1 and there was something to do for everyone. At the same time, they have things so padded and well protected that even mothers with accident prone children like myself… can feel at ease. We got to use half the gym for about 1⁄3 of the party, then the second half with the remainder of the party being in a room upstairs where everyone had pizza.
At first I didn’t understand why we could only use half the gym at a time, but it ended up being nice because you could keep a better eye on the kids and the two parties that were going simultaneously on were separated. Staff was great, pizza was good and all the kids had fun. This place is definitely in the running when I plan the next party for my own kids.

Just took our first Gymnastics for beginners. What a great place! I took advantage of a Groupon offer and am glad I did. After the class, there was an open play time for an hour where kids can utilize the equipment and swing, jump and bounce to their heart’s content. It was only $ 5.00 for the open play time. The staff was super friendly and so were all the parents that were there. The parents sit in a viewing area with a glass window (and there is a snack/​refreshment counter in the viewing room). Very easy to get to from I-​55 also.

I love this gym! Both my daughter and I have taken classes there. I took the Dancearitas class and it was a ton of fun & met some great girls. My daughter is only 15 months so hasn’t yet gone the gymnastics route yet, but loves their Open Gym time. She’ll be in their tumbling classes soon. It’s a really well run gym and we’ll be going back for years.
