We offer drink and paint gatherings in the privacy of your own home, in your workplace, or in our studio right on Main Street in the heart of beautiful East Greenwich! Unlike those other cookie-​cutter drink and paint shindigs … we offer a variety of paintings by level and techniques learned in the process. The more parties you book with us, the more techniques you learn. With each party booked you step up to the next painting level. The sky is the limit! Host one in your own home with 10+ guests and YOU paint for free! Each person only pays 35.00. With this 35.00 you will receive one-​on-​one painting instruction, 16×20 canvas, easel, variety of paints that are of professional quality, and color options. No two paintings from your party will look alike unless two of you choose the same color palette. So come try us out… we are not like the others, I can promise you that. Oh yeah… and we specialize in children’s painting parties and private lessons because after all, our head Creative Counselor in Erin T Whalen. History

Established in 2014.

The Rusty Palette began as an art studio for Children’s Author and Illustrator Erin T. Whalen. She chose the name due to the items and colors put into her painted illustrations that were created for her YA book «A Trashy Novel». Things took a turn less than a month after she opened her studio doors. You see, she had been asked to teach painting (especially drink and paint gatherings) many times. Because of so much demand for it, she accepted the challenge and suddenly The Rusty Palette took on a whole new meaning. Her «Rusty» style book illustrations do still line the walls of her studio where her writing desk sits only now there are tables and chairs for others to enjoy her studio space with her. The new tagline for The Rusty Palette is «Are your painting skills rusty? Join Erin at The Rusty Palette to brush up on your technique»

In one short month her Author and Illustrator status took on a third role… Teacher. Teaching is on a fast track to becoming her favorite of the three.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Erin T Whalen has been writing and illustrating children’s books for over 20 years. She has published an illustrated book series «Charlie’s Head». There are 3 books in the set. She has enjoyed book signings and conventions with Radio Disney and has had the privilege to teach the writing and illustrating process at many schools and colleges. She has illustrated a page in «Alice in Wonderland» 150^th anniversary coffee table book dedicated to Lewis Carroll in Sweden. She was one of 150 illustrators that were specially chosen for this project. She is currently editing and finalizing her illustrations for her first YA novel. She enjoys keeping busy and is honored to have been asked to teach many women, children, and men painting techniques. She does teach painting in her studio however it is a bit small so her clients decided that is would be fun to have home parties at their house and they were RIGHT! She now travels from house party to house party with her canvases, paints, and easels.
