Specialties
Chubba’s Snowballs specializes in making New Orleans style snowballs, on the North Shore. Soft snow, no crunch. Our flavors are just sweet enough, not too sweet and not under sweet. We also have our own secret chocolate recipe. We aim to please, so if its not what you like, we’ll make it over. We take pride in what we do. If you’re not sure what flavor you would like, we’ll let you taste a flavor before you choose.
History
Established in 2012.
Chubba’s Snowballs has been located next to, the Goodbee Quick Stop for 2 years now. We started off with a white trailer, and a little road sign my husband made. Now, we painted our trailer bright yellow, have a big banner (Made by Joe O., our friend, at Sharper Imaging in Harahan, La. He does AWESOME work), and our little road sign (A lot more noticeable). We’ve also made some upgrades to the inside, so that we can run concessions. We’re not doing that yet, because we don’t want to be in competition with our gracious land owner/Goodbee Quick Stop. So in turn, we are still in the process of coming up with on site, non, competitive, food ideas. At the present moment, we can do snowball parties, and food catering on location.
Meet the Business Owner
Gloria T.
Business Owner
Chubba’s Snowballs was started as a 2 part dream. We wanted to have a family business, doing something we love, and raise our son while doing it. It’s the 3 of us running the stand. My husband, my not yet 2yr old son, and Myself. My husband does most of the snowballing, I do the marketing, and my son, well, he’s the boss. Chubba is actually spelled Csaba (my hubby is Hungarian), which is my husbands name and our son’s name. The idea of opening a snowball stand actually came from my parents. They had a snowball stand in the 70’s called the Wagon Wheel, close to David Dr. in Metairie. I was a baby then, so as I did with my son the first year, I was at the stand with my parents. They would still be open, except for the fact that, the property they where on, was sold out from under them. Snowballs have always been a tradition in our family, as for many family’s in Louisiana. Except it has changed some with the times. We want to keep the tradition alive for family’s. Something to pass on.
