Courtyard Cincinnati Covington

I really like the hotel — the room size is good, lay out is fine, well furnished. The best thing is that the free wifi is fast, unlike many other hotels I have been to. The let down is the on-​site bistro, which is just a Starbucks outlet. If not for the restaurant, I would have given it 4 stars.

What a bad experience! It started at check in, with a girl named Alex, she was so rude. I travel a fair amount, mainly staying at Marriott properties, which I like. I asked about an upgrade, based on my rewards program, that I have been involved in for years. She responded with a comment about me being a gold elite member, not platinum. Never heard this from any other property? I then explain that this is written into my membership program, but she didn’t care, she just continued to tell me I’m nothing at «her Courtyard». I then asked for a water, which every location always gives with a goodie bag to gold elite members? She explained that she didn’t do that, as I’m «only» a gold elite member. Thanks a lot! I will never return to your hotel on this alone.
In addition, this is a very dirty property that smells really bad! The lobby is nice, the rooms suck! I won’t be back. The towels smelled horrible; a burnt smell that was crazy strong. Btw, the hallway smelled like the carpet was rubbed with a dirty diaper, honest. It smelled really bad! The linens also smelled bad. Just an overall bad experience.

If you are looking for a relatively good price, free parking, WiFi, clean rooms, and friendly staff … also close to downtown Cincinnati — this is the place! They had all the accommodations of a Courtyard and a great view of the Cincinnati skyline. They even have free shuttles that run to downtown. The only downfall of this hotel is the location in Covington. There is nothing within walking distance and its popped in a not so great area. But overall — we will definitely stay here again.

Let me start by saying, I did not stay here. I booked this hotel several months in advance of the WEBN fireworks. Not being from the area, I asked two very important questions: can you see the fireworks from the riverview room? and is it within walking distance to the festivities? I was told Yes on both. I reserved 3 suites. My sister then called to verify and was also told yes. But then she talked to someone from the area and they said «you might want to check that again». And sure enough, when we called and spoke with someone they told us that even paying for the riverview, you could not see the fireworks and that it was a 45 minute walk to the area. Thankfully I was able to cancel before we were charged. The hotel may be fine but I do not appreciate false information just to book a room.

Yes the trains run right by the hotel. I found it to be white noise & not overly bothersome. Super helpful front desk. They went over & above during my stay. I greatly appreciated that. Good bistro, nice marketplace View over the river was great. Free parking! Very slow internet — I had to upgrade. Would not walk around this neighborhood at night by myself

This would have been a 5 star rating had it not been for the railroad tracks running right next to the hotel. The staff was great, the rooms clean and very modern and the beds were so comfortable.

Stayed here for business on 2÷18−2÷20. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful but that was the only upside for me. Was woken up 5 times each night from a passing train next to my window. I also seemed to have a bad allergic reaction to something in the room, air was dry and I got a bad rash after sleeping there. Probably won’t stay here again and I visit cinci on a bi-​weekly basis.

Free Wifi, free parking… very nice overall. I’ve stayed here twice because they are always so friendly and I love the little café /​restaurant downstairs. I like it here when I need a casual place to stay. It’s comfortable and no complaints here!

I like to stay in Covington because it is close to Northern Kentucky, the West Side, and Downtown. However, if you are going to stay in Covington you have to be careful about where you stay. The area can be sketchy. Luckily the Courtyard is like an oasis in the midst of that sketchiness. Here are the pro’s and con’s of staying at the Courtyard.
Pro’s:
1) Friendly staff. I stayed over Christmas and even though they were working on a holiday they were nothing short of extremely pleasant during every single interaction.
2) Rooms. The room was updated, clean, and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The shower got good water pressure and the toiletries were Paul Mitchell. The rooms on the river side have an amazing view of the river and the Cincinnati skyline.
3) Full service Starbucks in the lobby. There isn’t a free standing Starbucks in the area so this was exciting.
4) Free parking and WiFi. If you stay at the other Marriott property they charge you for these. The parking garage isn’t guarded but you do need a room key to drive your car into the garage.
Con’s:
1) Trains. This is a BIG POTENTIAL DOWNFALL SO READ THIS CAREFULLY. This hotel is right next to a set of train tracks. All night long trains go by and they are very loud. The hotel is aware of this as evidenced by a little sign in each room explaining that they are aware of the problem. Every time a train went by my windows rattled, bed shook, and it felt kind of like a little earthquake. This isn’t something that you will not notice. If you are a light sleeper then you should probably either stay somewhere else or ask for a room that is as far away as possible from the tracks. I actually slept through it because I have lived near train tracks most of my life. If I wasn’t kind of used to trains I would have never been able to sleep.
Overall this is a great hotel as long as you can sleep through the trains. I’ll definitely stay again.

Pros: Staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and fairly large. WIFI is pretty fast.
Cons: The location is a bit sketchy and their bistro is understaffed. There are trains running nearby than can wake you up at night, especially if you’re on the east end of the building.

I’ve been meaning to start my first review for months. Finally a great experience pushed me to do so.
Quick notes: clean hotel, convenient location, stylish new bistro, friendly staff and free parking.
Side notes: gym feels a bit small when hotel is busy but comparable to other competitive brands. A train does stroll by hotel. I am a light sleeper but never woke up to noise thanks to initiatives staff has put into play.
True reason for 5 stars: Betsy at the front desk. Check-​in was smooth and friendly. She assisted me in locating a grocery store and beautiful running route. On top of that she helped secure a room on a close to sold out night that was not selling on line. She started easy conversation because she remembered key parts of earlier convos and genuinely cared. Exactly what is needed when I’m on the road for a week. I was happy when I walked in after a long day and she was at the desk. Great associate — don’t lose her, true asset!!!

This is a nicely updated courtyard. That sits next to railroad tracks. With loud trains that will make your whole room vibrate. Kind of something the hotel website should disclose, don’t you think? Instead, you get a cutesy note in your room about it that starts out with «I think I can… I think I can…» Yup, they did that.
There’s free parking in their garage — just pull right in, the barriers are set to always be up. Free breakfast came with my rate, and you get a choice of one hot dish or two cold ones, and a drink. My bed was comfy and my room was clean, but I could hear the girls in the room next to me talking, and they were not loud at all. Oh, and although the hotel was dead, I was placed in a room level with the train tracks, three rooms down from the one closest to the tracks. Um, why?! So ya, nice hotel, but… TRAIN.

Great value for the price! The rooms are very, very nice and very clean and have everything one needs. Honestly, they are no worse (or better even?) than some 5-​star hotels I’ve stayed.
Hot tub was definitely a nice addition (beware of very strong chlorine fumes. and it dries out your skin. I guess it’s the price one pays for disinfection), and the lobby is very tasteful.
The only comment: when we ordered breakfast, everything was packed to go, which is very wasteful in terms of packaging. I wish there were recycling bins or actual tableware. I feel bad about all the plastic and paper we had to throw out for a plain breakfast for 2.

I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and see all of the nice updates. I was here for the marathon and staff were so nice! They let us check out late and had water and treats for is before the race.

3 stars only because front desk was nice and the room was nice also. Pulling into the parking garage is bad set up. You have to swing out to get in and the Internet is horrible. Network connection lost is what I seen at least 60 times. I complained twice and was told we don’t have any complaints, but when checking in the lady told me she lost connection and I heard someone else complain. If you have a lot of computer work to do prepare to test your patience.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The staff are awesome, the rooms and the whole place is decked out nicely new. I love that I can come for the weekend with my kids and they bring their Xboxes and all their electronics and swim and we just have a great time! The beds are super comfy, and the rooms are big, will definitely be a regular here at this place, an added bonus is the little bistro, good food!

My one star is due to the fact that management doesn’t disclose the train tracks nearby on the website at the time of the reservation. We didn’t sleep at all. The entrance is a mess to maneuver as well.

I read some reviews online and I was prepared for the worst. I travel frequently for work, with many single night stays.
1^st– the lobby has been completely remodeled. It is beautiful! The lobby extends to a beautiful patio area (obviously aavailable in-​season). The pool is 20 steps away from the lobby and it too was gorgeous.
2^nd-​the hotel is located close to a train. In efforts to muffle the noise, Marriott has instructions in the room directing you to keep the fan in the «on» mode to help with train noise. I kept my A/​C on all night, didn’t hear a peep from the train.
3^rd-​the room was clean, had a view of the baseball stadium. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, and not cramped (showed not too close to the toilet, which can make it difficult to navigate getting out of the shower).
4^th-​the drop off area is a little bit precarious, I can see where it may be a little problematic, but I had NO problem. Parkng is complimentary.
5^th-​free internet connection
Would stay again if working in the area.

With the other hotels in the area, I would just avoid this one completely.
The entrance/​drop off is tiny and a few cars checking can cause grid lock. There’s no room to maneuver.
The lobby area is nice, but we didn’t have a chance to try any of the available coffee or breakfast.
There is a raised train track adjacent to this hotel and they run all night. It’s very loud and can catch you off guard. It wasn’t a pleasant «toot-​toot!» every once in a while. It was a ground shaking vibration and sounded well, like a freight train. There’s just no escape from it.
Other reviewers mentioned that they were offered ear plugs, but there was no mention of the train or available ear defense.
The TV is next to the bed, instead of at the foot of the bed and its a pretty awkward set up. The lamps and fixtures in our room were dusty and there was a stain on the seat of the office chair. The biggest offender was the mold-​covered shower curtain liner. I’m not talking about a little mildew. I’m talking about mold covering most of the bottom of the shower curtain.
We did mention it at check out and the staff seemed a little condescending when discussing it. We didn’t ask for a comp or anything, but just wanted to let them know. We got the «Oh, well okay, Mrs. Jen F, we’ll make sure to mention it to the housekeeping supervisor right away.»
Conventient location to White Castle for late night nosh.

Slept 10 straight hours. Good internet connection. Healthy breakfasts, and bad coffee. Parking is free, large vehicle parking is nearby. I loved this place for the money, logistics, and friendliness.
Arriving on time I was greeted with a smile and given a smooth check in. The room was perfect, clean, large, good internet connection. The snack bar/​small restaurant was healthy and priced right.
Nearby to fast food joints and a few blocks from the «Main Strasse» area. short walk, maybe 1 mile to the Reds Stadium. Very good restaurants nearby.
I will stay here again.
