Shoreline RV Park

Traveler beware! I had made a reservation with Shoreline RV park many months ago — was supposed to be in site# 52 — when making the reservation I tried to give a credit card but she said they’d take care of it when we got there -«don’t worry, you’ve got a site reserved». Well I called a week before the arrival date to verify that it still existed. Good thing I did. They had someone else in the site and told me that they had a new system and had lost a bunch of their reservations. What really made me angry was she treated me like I was an imposter and didn’t really care that I was left hanging. No apology, no big deal! I called around to the other RV parks and found out in talking to several of them that they had heard about this from other travelers looking for an RV site — same story. I am a little old fashioned in that when I tell someone that I have them covered I really try to do them right. This person just told me that I didn’t have a reservation and that they were full up. My problem — but I hope after reading this that it is their problem.

Great site; large enough to open the slides and use the picnic table; easy pull through, quiet area and convenient location; clean restrooms. Office was extremely helpful with providing tourism tips. They even sent us an email when we made reservations with a long list of tourist info. This was one of the only parks where we could have a campfire. That’s rare when you have a big rig. If you have a smaller camper or tent, you can even camp among the redwoods here. I’d definitely recommend this place.

We stayed here for s few nights while on our year long trip. We are a younger retired professional couple with no pets or kids. We called while en route and asked for a ocean view. When we got there we were given a good spot. The RV hosts both were rude & should be replaced. He claimed his wife was a «clean freak» but did not find that to be the case. Bathrooms were rundown & dirty. Only handicapped shower was operational & 1 toilet. Other commodes we’re screwed shut & said out of order. Appears they had been that way a long time. Next to a city park which is nice but access to beach is limited due to concrete sea wall. Many «homeless» in the area camping on the beach. Were warned by host to not give out bath house code & «make sure door is closed» when using facilities. This is s city owned park with reasonable rates but lacks upkeep and revisions needed. No police presence seen in the area so did not feel very safe when leaving our rig for the day. Beautiful redwood forest close by for exploring. The other 2 seaside parks look like druggy & homeless camps so this one was the least offensive. Too bad the city doesn’t invest some money into a new bath house & some trees. Laundry was a complete disaster & I refused to do my clothes there. Best bet is the KOA or parks just into Redwoods.

I called to reserve a site. The woman seemed pleasant BUT after I gave her my number so she could call me back, and asked her to repeat it back to me for clarification, she said «You know?» and hung up on me. With customer service like that I will not stay there.

For what California has to offer in the way of oceanfront RV parks, Shoreline is one of the very best we’ve found. We stayed in 1991 when the park had many trashy looking locals residing. About 10 years ago we checked it out with the dinghy and it had further deteriorated. Having read that major improvements had been made, we revisited. It’s great. Mid-​November we got a front row pull in site that gave our Class A front window an awesome vista of Crescent City Harbor. Any seasoned Class A traveler will readily acknowledge how rare pull in sites are. A small concrete patio is provided where a DP door would be. Gravel pads provided excellent support for our 37′ gasser at a time when the area was saturated with much needed precipitation. The grass between the sites could use some weed killer but looked good. And the view out our front window. .. We’ve paid 3 times the price for lesser waterfront views on the rare occasion when we could find them. In a separate area (so no dreaded side-​by-​side hook-​ups) towables can be backed into harbor front sites also. The ever present distant foghorn simply added to the coastal ambience for me as did the occasional barking of sea lions. This park is the model the state of California needs to follow with its aging, over-​priced, overcrowded beach area RV parks. The city of Eureka is to be commended for providing this well designed facility at a bargain price. (An added benefit is the access to a bike path at the very entrance of the park. It’s a nice ride for the casual rider.)

The managers are wonderful! Lot 12 is a fantastic place to park your rig. Back in, hook up, & walk a few feet to the beach. Can’t beat that! This place received a grant at the beginning of 2015. So they have cleaned up the grounds and maintained it well. You will find a lot of little hole in the wall places that have good food.
Catch some zzz’s by the sea enjoy a small fisherman’s town.

Would not recommend!
Pro: next to beach/​jetty.
Cons: 1) the people that run the park. Her/​checking people in… (even if you have reservations) is way over her skill level. Him/​a complete jerk! No people skills what so ever! 2) Gravel everywhere, no trees.
WILL NEVER COME BACK! WILL NEVER RECOMMEND.

Mostly just a gravel lot but for an in-​town park it has its benefits. Close (within walking distance) to grocery stores, strip mall stores and restaurants. Only negatives, fog horn in background is ²⁴⁄₇ and nearby sea lions do not sleep so if you are a light sleeper or have tinnitus you may find this park too loud. Bathrooms were well-​kept. On-​site laundry was not working during our visit. Wi-​Fi was A+ but you had to reconnect (agree to terms) every 6 – 8 hours.

Located walking distance from the boat docks and next to the beach in Crescent City. Renovated campsites with Cable TV hookups, laundromat, and showers with warm water. The bathrooms could use a complete overhaul, but they do keep them clean. With so many things walking distance from the campsite, you can’t beat the location.

We come her every 4^th of July and we love it. It’s right on the beach which is really lovely.
It’s a large area and the bathrooms have showers.
Grocery stores and restaurants are within walking distance.
What I don’t like is that this year I was taking my three young nieces to the showers and the female manager started accusing us of coming by the showers every 10 minutes and clogging them with sand.
We had been out all day so I told her that we weren’t even there. She kept saying «yes, it was you» while glaring at me and the girls.
As we were walking away she said «kiss my a**».
I spoke with other campers who heard her make racist comments about us and they also had bad experiences with the management.
I love this campground but it needs new management. We made a reservation 3 months in advance and when we arrived someone had taken our spot and the male manager just said «well, that happens.» Clearly they hate their jobs but that’s no reason to treat paying customers so terrible. It’s about time for retirement.

This park is 2 star as far as maintenance (rutty, trash cans not convenient, no trees, no privacy barriers) but 5 star for location and price. If you want water view and close to town, this is a great RV Park. We would stay there again.

I hate paved lot RV parking sites. This one has dirt and grass. You can easily bicycle into town for whatever reason. It took a minute for the staff to warm up, but after they quite friendly.

My husband and I really liked this RV park, and here is why:
* We got a waterfront site and it was beautiful. Although we were staying within city limits, it felt like we were in a more remote location. We had a spot on view of the harbor, and could watch the tides go in and out; we also enjoyed watching a myriad of birds feeding and hanging out on the beach, especially near the river outlet that we were parked next to. In short, it was a really pretty spot — it matters a great deal to be parked up by the water because the views from the other spots are not that nice.
* The location of the RV park is right at the edge of town, so we could easily walk in for groceries at one of two large grocery stores, visit other little shops, eat at restaurants, and we even went to a movie, which was right next to the Safeway. We were thinking of staying one night, and we ended up staying 5 nights at this RV Park.
* It is right next to a county park that spans quite a bit of beautiful shoreline and is within walking distance of the light house, which was really fun to visit. The lighthouse is open for visits until October something, during low tide only because the footpath to the lighthouse is under water during high tide.
* We were able to walk along the shoreline for a considerable distance right outside our RV!
* A short drive or walk up the coast (1 — 1 ½ miles) takes you to beautiful shoreline where the open oc\ean crashes against large rock outcroppings. Plenty of pullouts for the car/​RV. Very dramatic.
The things that aren’t so great about this park:
— if you park by the water, it is a long walk to the front buildings where the toilets and showers and garbage receptacles are located. We didn’t use the toilets or showers because of this and planned garbage disposal around other outings.
— The spots are not that big and are not private. It’s basically a big parking lot. No picnic table per site, but a couple strewn around the park, with one right at the waterfront. We were there during low tourist traffic (Sept.) and it was not at all crowded, so we didn’t mind the openness of sites that much.

This was a nice park. We were passing through town, and saw it right on the water. The sites are grassy, but held our 40 foot RV without a problem. Price was right. They have internet access if you are close to the office.
They have spaces that are right on the water. There are no trees to get in the way if you have a large or tall RV. There is a nice bike trail nearby that we took a ride on.
I would definitely stay here again.
