Goodwin’s

I went back, there are no other grocery stores nearby so I kind of have to. I must say, it is better. They improved on all the areas I complained about.

I love the coffee juice bar with their bakery goods. Always a great choice in the morning. They always have great cream puffs. Produce, deli, meat Dept, and organic raw milk keep me coming back as well.

Wanted to grab some snacks and to use the restroom while driving to Arrowhead. Restroom is well maintained. Lots of trinkets, t shirts and other winter items were on sale. Their café/​bakery was closed around 4 pm on a weekend. Good place to stop and grab your essentials if you are camping or staying nearby.

Goodwins Market is excellent! The service deli food is amazing!!! If anyone ever goes there, order their sandwiches. All of their hot foods are amazing as well. The customer service is excellent. Everyone is always friendly and prompt with their service. I have never been to a grocery store where the owners are right there helping out and talking to all of the employees. The employees seem to look up to the owners as well. Goodwins, by far, is the only grocery store that has that type of positive review and can say that the employees have a good and healthy relationship with the owner of the business. That alone holds 5 stars, not to mention how excellent the store is ran… I have always had a positive experience at Goodwins Market.

If you watch their ads and buy accordingly you can’t go wrong. Great deli and meat departments, fruits and veggies.
The only problem was recently I bought a jacket. I had a receipt and they would not do a return. There was no sign that clothing was not returnable.
They opened in 1947. The original owner and his wife still come and work in the store. They are very good with their employees and the employees are always helpful and respectful.
Church, community and country are part of their everyday life.

Goodwins is the only market in town. If you work DTH I suggest you get your groceries there. Nether do have a good variety of stuff and good service but their food is very sketchy. Many times I have came home and found their produce rotten inside. Worse yet, finding produce rotten in the bins.
As for everything else… Make sure you check the expiration dates on everything like if you are shopping in o e of those grocery outlet stores. It is common to find perishable items way overdue.

So being from out of town and not having a small town family owned grocery store I have become a custom to poor customer service in exchange for «always low prices» so it was so refreshing to come into Goodwins and have our bag boy Brian greet us with a smile and such a polite demeanor. I wish we had people like this in our city. Mr. Goodwin had a winner in this young man! I’m sure he’ll be running the store someday !! With a great selection and good prices this is a great grocery store! Only draw back I can found was a mean looking short lady by the name of Patty I believe. She looked at me with a mean mug that I thought might turn me to stone! Eeek!!! She must have missed the company smile training class!

Sorry goodwins but my last visit was today, ¹¹⁄₀₃ and I must say the cashier (Kayla G.) I chose to go to was nothing but difficult and rude towards me with my WIC checks. My WIC check was valid for 1% milk, eggs, cheese and peanut butter and I had grabbed the appropriate items for the store I was shopping at. The Golden Crème 1% milk is NOT the correct milk to use for my WIC checks and WIC will not refund the grocery store if I chose this milk. Therefore, each time I use my checks, the cashier that I choose that day exchanges it out for their milk (Springfield) 2%, not 1%. This milk is the appropriate one and goodwins will be refunded. I explained to Kayla today how the store goes about the milk on my checks but she argued with me and told me, «no this is what it says so either you or me can go get you the right one» and sure enough the milk she wanted was NOT the correct one. Sorry goodwins, YOURE LOSING MONEY FROM THIS!!! She then argued with me on the peanut butter I chose and the cheese. Kayla went as far as pulling out the WIC booklet to check each of my items, as well. Very disappointed I had to go through such a hassle to use my WIC checks today. I’ll start going elsewhere to do my shopping needs.

This place is the spot. While the groceries are off-​brand and generally over priced, the deli makes up for the shortcomings.
Awesome selection of fresh boars head meats and homemade salads, you can’t go wrong. The coffee and juice bar is a nice touch too, glad they added it.

The hot food, bakery and take & bake pizza are all excellent and the service is typically fine but in general as a grocery store their prices aren’t very competitive for the mountain. You can drive another ten minutes to Jensen’s for what is an overall much nicer grocery store at the same price point or another fifteen minutes to Stater Bros which is still a nicer grocery store and cheaper. They seem very much catered to the tourists who aren’t familiar with what else is available on the mountain or don’t have the time to go very far for groceries.

For never living in Crestline I was very impressed. The prices are very fair for being in the boonies, and the sell something I never seen: aged meats. The had great tasting rotisserie chicken, and a full deli, as well as a bakery. It may not have been a Walmart, but in many ways it was better. If I go to Crestline again, I will shop there

Such a great neighborhood grocery store. Reasonable prices, great deli and bakery. It’s my go to place here in town.

Stood in the bakery for 10 minutes to get one loaf of french bread sliced. Three women all behind counter making speacialty coffee. Only one person at the coffee counter ordering. I finally put bread down and walked away.

This is one of those mom and pop stores that small towns used to have. You rarely get to go to a grocery store that has been around since 1946 and the same owner still works there. You will actually find Mr. Goodwin himself stocking the shelves! Everyone at the store seems friendly. It is a very clean store. They sell most of the stuff a normal grocery store would carry as well as unique home décor, gift items, & they have a fairly decent wine/​liquor selection. They even carry necessities for each season. Such as in the winter they carry boots, hats, gloves etc. in the summer flip flops, hats, rafts, etc.
The deli here serves the best sandwiches on the mountain! They also have a bakery with many fresh and unique pastries. One of our favorite parts of the store is the meat department. They have dry aged steaks. Which finding a butcher in California that sells dry aged steaks is hard to find. If you’ve never had a dry aged steak come to Goodwins and buy some they are phenomenal! If you can’t find what you’re looking for the Butcher always makes it up for you. Example: fajitas, beef stew, etc. I have seen reviews on here that said that they are overpriced. The prices are a little high & yes Stater Brothers is up the road. I don’t think people are considering that Stater brothers has thousands of stores & they get trucks that deliver mass quantities. Here you are dealing with 1 store and a family that is trying to keep the family business alive. To me this is priceless and I would choose to help out a local businessman rather than a major company. You do not see very many Family owned and operated stores anymore.

Been going to Goodwins since the early 70’s. My review today concerns mainly the service deli. There are usually 3 – 4 girls behind the counter or in the kitchen. Lately when I try to get service at the deli the ladies behind the counter pretend not to see you. They never make any eye contact until they they feel like it. In most businesses customer service is number one concern, not here. My second observation is concerning the goody counter where the refrigerated pastries are. Bought some cream filled horns and had to toss them when I got home, really old and stale.
Lastly: Prices, 1\2 pint of ½−½ 2.49, at Jensens 1.99. Please tell me if the aged beef at
17.99 +lb. is really really wonderfully amazing.

They have a good selection for a mountain grocery store, but everything literally costs 3 times more than it does at Stater Brothers up the hill (in Arrowhead). For someone like my Crestline resident mother, who is not rich, it’s not possible to shop there often. So, if you have a small grocery list, it’s fine. I still gave 4 stars, considering all their stock has to be trucked up the mountain.

This is a store that seriously has everything you could possibly want. The prices are higher of course, but I prefer to shop locally when ever possible. Everyone has been so nice and helpful. There is one persons customer service skills that really stand out. There is a young woman that works in the deli and she has awesome customer service skills.
Customer service is something I believe is key. When I post a review customer service is one of the biggest things that I take in consideration. The young lady will hopefully get acknowledge for her services. She was able to answer all my questions regarding their food and of course desert. I was very impressed with her and the different items the store carries.

Awesome grocery store! It’s big and had everything we needed while staying in the area for a couple of days: deli, bakery, etc. There’s even a touristy section with knickknacks and stuff.
The employees are friendly and helpful. The store is a bit older but overall was just fine for our purposes.

The parking is plenty and friendly people working the registers. It’s located across from Lake Gregory and well stocked with a variety of goods and nice Deli area. The inside is a old and could use a remodel and reorganize to make it more efficient. They do have various sales and the pricing is pretty good. The deli seems to have a good variety of meats and sandwiches.

I have been coming to this grocery store since May of 1990 when we got a place in the area. The prices are somewhat high, but that is the price of convenience in the mountains. The selection of items is okay — meat is generally good, but produce selection is minimal. The staff is very friendly. I love the fact that it is a family owned store. They also have a great bakery.
