Olivas de Oro

Came here with friends to the orchard to table dinner. Overall, a great experience!
The owners Frank and Marti were wonderful hosts, the food was amazing, and the facilities tour and olive oils ‘sensory tasting’ were great.
Highly recommended!

Came here for the Creston Wine Trail Passport Weekend event. We got to try all 18 olive oils! I never knew there could be so many flavors! All of them were very good and had their own distinct taste. Some of them she mixed together to give us another flavor. She also gave us examples of what kinds of dishes we could use the olive oils for. In addition to the tasting, they also had several other food tastings available, such as meatballs, humus, cheese/​tomato sticks, etc. It was a really nice display and the lady was very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

The best olive oil, vinegars (love Pacific Spice which is not a Balsamic), olive oil soaps, frozen cuts of their own raised lamb and amazing olive jam… addicting products! Don’t miss on a trip to Paso Robles!

Way out on the back roads of Paso Robles you will find the Creston Wine Trail. (about a 30 minute drive) There are about 5 wineries, a restaurant and this place, an olive farm. The lush trees you see as you enter the property were transported one by one from Oregon.
The small tasting room is lined with rows of oils, vinegars and other treats. Once you taste good high-​quality balsamic vinegars you will never go back to the cheap stuff. It’s thick, almost like syrup and the tangy taste left in your mouth is unforgettable. I sampled oils, their truffle sea salt is TO DIE FOR. I left with a sampler of my favorite oils and a jar of the freshest basil pesto for the co-​workers to enjoy. Scoop some pesto over softened cream cheese, add crackers, boom. Instant appetizer. They devoured it.
There’s also a guest house on the property that sleeps 8. It’s a great hideaway.

Several times we have missed the Olivas de Oro experience due to bad timing. They have limited hours and limited days, but this time we did not mess up.
First of all, once you pass through the large gates, there is a winding, dirt road that feels like it will go on forever. Is there really a tasting room and olive business back here? But the drive is gorgeous, taking you by several huge orchards of old and new trees, well worth the meander. Especially since there had been enough rain to encourage an emerald green carpet of new grass to cover the hills and surround the trees.
At last we arrived. The tasting room from the outside looked like a real let down, more of a gardening shack I thought. But then we walked inside. Surprisingly, it was decorated, and there was a big table of oils, some flavored, some not, and flavored vinegars to taste. I happily discovered they were all exceptionally delicious. The hostess stood by as we shamelessly sipped our way into oblivion, and gave great tips on how some oils and special vinegars paired especially nicely together. The tasting room was also a cute little gift shop that helped resolve some of my Xmas gift issues.
Do stop here. This is a tremendous find that definitely enhanced our wine tasting experience that day, and will grace our table for some really fine dining.

Not only is the olive oil here superb, the owners Frank and Marti, are as personable and friendly as one could hope. Rachel (in the Tasting Room) makes one feel very welcome. We are happy to have discovered this hidden gem just outside of Paso Robles in the countryside of Creston.

To be honest I found out about this place by their vacation house rental. Their is a house on the farm that you can rent out and a Kiwi friend suggested it. It is a great place to stay if you are tasting/​touring the area.
So we stopped by the tasting room and were floored by the quality of the olive oils. I was so happy not to get any that tasted like a lawn. They were all rich and delicious. Then upon diving into the flavored oils where they crush the flavoring with the olives I was even more impressed.
I just used some of the mandarin orange olive oil in some brownies (yes, you should try doing that) after remembering some olive oil waffles they had for mother’s day last year.
The rosemary goes great on a cooked steak. And I have to stop talking about them because I am risking drooling on my keyboard. I can’t wait to get back up there to buy some more.

OHMYGOD, their olive oils are the best. They are at the Menlo Park farmers market on Sunday mornings. I usually prefer unflavored olive oils, but was convinced to taste them at the market. Ever since, that is all I use, for cooking and for uncooked items. The garlic oil makes the best eggs ever. I rarely ever use garlic anymore– using their garlic oil provides plenty of flavor. Basil and lemon flavors are great on salads. I’m hooked, but at least it’s healthy! Just finished a tomato & mozzarella de bufala salad with the garlic oil, so had to write this review.

I picked up a bottle of the Rosemary Olive Oil at the Santana Row Farmers Market, and I must say its freakin great! The olives are organic and for this particular flavor, they mash the olives with the rosemary so they produce a strong, but not overpowering, delicious rosemary olive oil.

These are olive oils where all I need a good chunk of bread to enjoy. They have so much flavor, depth and richness, they can stand on their own.
All Olivas de Oro olive oils are certified organic. Perhaps that’s why they taste so good.
My favorite, Sevillano… very buttery and nutty. I also enjoy their meyer lemon oil as well as their mission blend oil. Each has its own distinct flavor worth checking out.
