Holiday Inn Express & Suites Charleston Nw – Cross Lanes

Nice hotel. As someone who travels average of 250 days a year. For a chain hotel this holiday inn suites is great for the price. Prob the best option in the area (my opinion). $ 125 a night booked 1hr before arrival. The hotel has a breakfast area and a indoor heated pool. Also a gym. The staff was friendly. They have my comp WIFI even tho I never use hotel WIFI. Still nice.
There are a few places to eat beer by TGI Fridays and Cracker Barrel are right down the road.

Another decent Holiday Inn Express like so many others sprinkled across the US landscape. This one is set off I-​64 in a total ghetto location — up a hillside, behind a Golden Coral. Nonetheless — a fairly well kept, comfortable and clean hotel. Staff was friendly upon check-​in and all my follow-​up interactions.
Location: 2 stars. Hard to find with nothing spectacular on the surroundings.
Building: 4 stars. Built within the past few years — standard four story, wood construction.
Finishes: 3 ½ stars. Up to date, with modern stylings.
Entertainment: 3 ½ stars. Fairly small LG flatscreen, with no in-​room entertainment options. Digital TV — signal is good with an analog backup.
Dining: 2 stars. No restaurant or bar. Free breakfast is the standard greasy, prepackaged eggs, biscuits and gravy and meat. Coffee is pretty good.
Bed Comfort: 3 ½ stars. No the best, but not the worst. Firm with a bit of give — good for a side sleeper, probably not so good for a back sleeper. Ample pillows (4 per bed) with a choice of firm or soft. Blankets are soft, but in the spring and summer, you are not given a comforter.
Overall: If you are traveling I-​64 through West Virginia — a good choice in the greater Charleston area — but not a destination stop.

We were greeted by Katelyn and felt very welcome. Our room was spotlessly cleaned by April and ready for us. The bed was comfortable and amenities good.
I am not a big fan of the bkf but it was hot and my husband really enjoys the cinnamon rolls.
Checkout was friendly and easy and we were offered water for our trip.
Great stay.

I used to comment that hotel beds are generally comfortable, being reasonably firm. I was told that was because hotels have to buy good quality mattresses so they will last. After 40 years and a couple of thousand hotel nights, including little places in rural Argentina and Romania. I now observe that the days of reliably comfortable hotel beds are over. The guy who invented pillow top beds has won.
Room 216, Holiday Inn Express, Cross Lanes, is the latest example and simply the worst hotel night I have experienced in my life. I used the right hand bed (as you stand at the foot). It is an excessively soft pillow top, trenched badly from use and perhaps even broken. I spent a good deal of the night trying to find a comfortable place and position in which to sleep, I ended up on top of the ridge in the middle and finally was able to get a couple of hours of sleep. I am a side sleeper and this thing bent my spine in ways that were not meant to be.
I know some designer and buyer received bonuses for specifying and buying these trendy pillow top mattresses in double extra soft and saved money by buying cheap ones at that. I am appealing to hotels to at least offer some firm conventional mattresses. I am looking for a hotel chain that has not bought into this trend. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them.
Everything can be great in the hotel but the quality of sleep overrides all. Beyond that, the HVAC system fan made sounds like someone throwing water against the window all night. This hotel is half-​way for us when driving from St Louis to the NC coast. For that reason, we had planned to make it a regular stop, not to mention that I love the carnitas at Rocas Mexican Grill. I think we will be trying the Hampton at Teays Valley a few miles west, hopefully with better beds. The hotel should be OK, a predictable HOIE, but this bed was inexcusable.

Had a great stay here. Hotel was new, clean, and offered all the amenities you’d expect. Rooms were spacious and well furnished. Complimentary breakfast was varied and tasty. Staff was very courteous.

I stayed here for one night with 36 youth and 12 staff on a college tour. The staff had our rooming list and key cards ready before we arrived, which made check-​in a breeze. The rooms were of great quality and very comfortable. Did I mention the shower was heavenly? Bathrooms were stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion from «Bath & Body Works». Breakfast the next morning was great. The buffet feature bacon, sausage, eggs, English muffins, bagels, a variety of juices, coffee, and hot tea. I’m not likely to ever be in this area again, however my stay here would make me consider Holiday Inn & Suites in other places. Also, if you ever stay here w/​a large group or just yourself there is a Golden Corral next door if that is your thing. Kudos!

Great hotel nice staff for the most part but one of the staff feels that because they work here they can park in the handicap spaces even though they are not handicapped because they «work here» worst excuse I have ever herd for making life more difficult for the disabled would be 5 stars if it were not for that the rest of the staff is amazing but…

Solid hotel with a VERY friendly staff. This place is clean and up to date with clean rooms with a microwave/​fridge and free wifi. The pillows were very comfortable and the bed was okay but not amazing. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is close to the highway, the downside is if you get a room close to the highway you might hear trucks whooshing by all night.
They have a reception each night with two free canned beers or sodas (one Coors Light was expired though) and they were very generous with packaged snacks to go. The free breakfast is tasty as well and features those addictive Holiday Inn Express cinnamon rolls and an automatic pancake maker which cooks pancakes in under a minute in addition to coffee/​tea, muffins, and the usual free hotel breakfast spread.
The hotel is a little hard to find since it’s set back behind the Golden Corral and the sign on the main road is tiny and looks like an unlit «for sale’ sign in front of a house.
This hotel is a solid choice for an overnight stop and I’d stay here again but see if you can get a room away from the road if the highway noise might annoy you.

HI has outdone itself! Very clean and up to date hotel. The staff is very friendly. Great breakfast options and modern, big rooms. Superb customer service! We will definitely be back.

Brand spanking new! Opened in January and looks like a shiny new building inside and out. Rooms are really nice size with single king bed. The bed was nice not too soft or hard. The room lays out nice and functiionally. They give you breakfast, so much for microwave and fridge! That would be the only things missing once you are here. Bathroom is really big with vessel sink and good shower. Make sure you put cup under coffee maker when you turn it on. I don’t know of any accidents that may have ruined a coffee maker ;)
But getting there… well good luck on first attempt. Take the phone number with you. OK, if your heading west on I64– make a left at top of ramp, make a left at first light after freeway, follow road south about ½ mile, its on right behind Golden Corral.
