History

Established in 2010.

Glean Acres, LLC is owned and operated by husband-​and-​wife-​team Amir Abdelmalek and Diana Boeke. Tired of urban life and cubicles, they took a leap of faith and bought a small piece of land in Madison County, Virginia and started farming full time in 2010. Glean Acres was born, with the intention of growing «Food, faith, and the good life.» Though neither of them had much experience in agriculture (close to zero, actually!), the community welcomed them with open arms, and step by step the couple is growing their business and providing good food to good people.

Meet the Business Owner

Diana A.

Business Owner

Diana grew up in California and spent years as a counselor for teens there before moving on to work as a journalist and communications specialist in Egypt. Though passionate about gardening and wholesome food, she only dabbled in gardening until she married Amir, giving her the freedom to spend working hours learning on an organic farm.

Originally from Egypt, Amir earned his MA in Industrial Engineering from the New Jersey Institute for Technology in the 90s and worked as a performance improvement consultant throughout the States.

Diana and Amir met in 2009, and were soon united by God in marriage in the Coptic Christian church. They were led to seek a life closer to the land and to God, and were burgeoning farmers just over a year later.
