The Theater at the Library of Congress, Packard Campus is breathtaking. The interior has Art Deco lighting and stars painted on the ceiling. It is a spectacular show when the lights go down and every week there are great old films. My 11 year old grandson especially loves the silent films when they have a guest organist. It is an honor and a pleasure to attend and a great gift to the community from the LOC.

Fantastic movie night with my boyfriend. This was my first visit and not my last. The showing was Reservoir Dogs. This was the perfect thing to do if you need to go out on a cold and rainy night.

When I first moved to Virginia many years back, I would pass this peculiar mountain on my way into or through Culpeper Virginia. I would watch it closely, always wondering what it was… but knowing full well in my conspiracy ridden mind that either alien autopsies were being performed or it was serving as some secret underground bunker for some shadowy government project. So many years have passed and«Mount Pony» is no longer serving as a federal bunker, but we learned that it was all part of the continuity of government plan to keep the Government running in the event of a devastating disaster.(or so THEY say). While far from alien autopsies, the facility has now been completely renovated and serves as the Library of Congresses Audio Video storage facility. They transferred the entire collections of the Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division to this state-of-the art facility. Their aim is to celebrate the extraordinary range of creativity and exuberance inherent in the recorded forms of American culture and entertainment while also demonstrating the work of the staff and laboratories devoted to preserving and restoring the audiovisual materials. The way they are demonstrating this effort is through the theater that is located inside the facility. Call the office for tickets and view the restored movies. While they aren’t new releases and the titles always vary, that’s kinda the allure and the reason I visit it. Look it up online and browse the schedule for the movie listings. Utilize Unilocal because there are a few good places to eat nearby. Cheers ~
