A-1 Service Appliance

Avoid, these guys are a scam. We had our freezer break. The repair guys came by and diagnosed a broken compressor and that a part would be needed. The part would be $ 150 or so. OK. They then dragged on getting the part (meanwhile it’s no fun to have no freezer but OK) and then when they finally returned they appeared to eyeball our place and the sub-​zero freezer and proceeded to quote a repair labor cost of about $ 1000. At this point my wife refused, telling them she would rather get a new freezer than repair an old one. As if by magi, they quickly amended the repair quote down to $ 350 for labor and eventually fixed it.
Not an isolated event. My mother in Santa Monica had a similar experience with the company when she had them come to fix an oven. The repair guy there showed up in a delapidated car, no uniform, no idea how to fix, but wanted to charge lots of $$. AVOID.

You will regret having hired them! I am at the end of three weeks of them trying to (or more to the point not trying to) repair a Jennair ice machine. It is the second time I have used them and would rather throw the machines away than have to work with these people. The technician came to diagnose and repair the machine 3 weeks ago today. He started taking it apart, but couldn’t figure out how it worked or why it would have stopped working. He complained about how he couldn’t find a wiring diagram for the unit and the called Jennair to see if they could help him. I guess they couldn’t so he called his office and they said it was probably the control board. So I paid the $ 400 deposit for them to order a new one. Two days later he comes back to install it. That wasn’t the problem so he took out the board and put back the old one. He then said he thought it was a pump so he leaves to order that. He has, at this point, disassemble the machine and it is in pieces sitting in the kitchen. I don’t hear from him for 5 days so I call. The office connects me with the technician who says he didn’t order the pump because now he thinks it might be a sensor and that he will come to pick the machine up in two days to take it back to the shop. He doesn’t show up. The machine is still in pieces in the kitchen. I call a few days later to complain to the office. They are concerned and are going to send a new tech to take over the job. He arrives hours later and looks at the disassembled machine and asks who did this? I tell him the other tech did this. He says he can’t work on it until the first tech puts it back together… so he leaves. Two days later the first tech shows up and takes the unit back to the shop to fix. A few days later I get a call from the office saying they have good news and they unit is fixed and they want to bring it back and install it. I said great, come on over. The first tech brings the unit back saying they replaced a sensor, he installs the unit and says that it still doesn’t work and would I like him to continue to try and diagnose the problem at their hourly rate? I said I was told by the office that it was fixed and that is why it was being delivered and installed. This guy said that was not the case and he left in a huff. I spoke to the office and they were apologetic and said they would take care of it. It is now 5 days later and I haven’t heard a word from them. NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE!!! I can’t stress this enough. The first time I used them a similar thing happened when the tech disappeared for 5 days with the replacement parts and the office had to order them again and send another tech to install them. They do not know what they are doing.

If I was you, I wouldn’t use this service.
We had to get our refrigerator fixed. They came by to give us a quote and a receipt for when they would be back. Few days later, no contact. We call our repair guy’s cell AND the company, but we get no answer from either. Left a few messages. No answer. The repair guy called a few days later, only to let us know that he quit and that we should call the company instead! Seriously?!
The company did not know where the ordered part was, and told us to call back the following Monday. Again, no answer.
We even went into the store, only to be told that our order doesn’t exist!!! Hello, we brought our receipt with us… I couldn’t believe their poor service.
Three weeks later, after a lack of response, we left a message to cancel the repair.
I don’t even want to look at A1 BBQ sauce anymore because of this horrible experience.

This service was thrust upon me from an assurance extended warranty. Told they would be here from 8 to 5. yes nice open window. Tech called my cell. while I’m at home. Said he called my home. did not. Told me I would have to reschedule for a week from now. Tried to explain to him that my son is disabled and I rescheduled his dr appt. For next week to accommodate him today. He said too bad and hung up on me. Nice. Stay away from these idiots. no stars they suck

If I could give them no star I would, first fuck up, I paid 600. To fix n repair my washer machine, i didn’t want to buy a new one bc I like matching sets. It came bac wit screws loose, n the guy tells me don’t wash anything on high spin.
I called over n over to come back, n they were trying to charge me more money. Smh. While they came bac the refrigerator broke, they told me they have a new technition n they’ll take care of me, I gave them 150, it worked for 2 days n broke again. We’re is the craftsmanship. U charge me to fix one thing n it didn’t fix as n that wasn’t the problem n then wanna charge me a whole nother amount to fix wat u now think it is, honor u work. They have no problem comin out taking ur money but to come bac n repair the problem they didn’t fix n the first place. I had at least 4 cancellations, day of.
Customer service wise is the only good thing. The lady at the counter always seems very nice. But she her workers ain’t worth shit.
At the end of the day I had to call a whole new company to come out n fix the problem. Smh, a damn shame.

Short answer, stay away from these 0 customer store.
Just called to inquired availability for a part and of course we check price online. Online is range from $ 70 – 90. A-​1 wants $ 117 and will take one day which is the same speed if I order online next day delivery. So I said let me think about it and was reply with «Do what You got to do…» Very nice way to drive your customer away.

Simply, A1 has the worst customer service. They don’t have good technicians. They wanted me to pay $ 65 with out labor on a part that costs $ 5 on amazon. I do not recommend A1 for any kind of repair.

Guy broke my finger pushing the fridge back in. His words were «it’s not my fault». GREAT COMPANY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! a+++++++++++++++++++++++”.

Completely unreliable. Called them as my washer broke and I have a 5 month old baby. Assured me someone could come out next day. Called the following day, again assured someone would be out asap. No call, called and they said 3−5pm. When no one showed by 4:30, called and said I would get a call back. I’m still waiting. Just awful.

Terrible terrible service. I called them to repair a microwave. The repairman came, said it could not be fixed at my place, and took it with him. He promised to call the next business day with a quote and an estimated time to repair. One month later I still have no microwave, no estimate, and no idea when they’re bringing it back. I have called over and over again. They promise they will take care of it and get back to me. They have never called back. Not a single time. At this point it looks like they have stolen my microwave.

Went in to the store a few weeks ago and the guy didn’t really seem very honest. Maybe he was having a bad day. Don’t think I’ll come back here.

SCAM ALERT!
I spent some time working in maintenance when I was in college and had the lid switch on my washer go out last week.
I knew this to be a a cheap part (no more than $ 25) and a relatively simple fix. However, I had a washer full of clothes and a very busy schedule so I called A-​1.
They told me that it would be $ 49 for the house call/​diagnostic, but that if I decided to get it fixed, that $ 49 would be applied towards the labor.
When the technician arrived, he diagnosed the precise problem I knew I had, and tried to charge me over $ 200.00 to fix it!!!
When I confronted him about attempting to rip me off for $ 100 for the exact piece he needed (less than $ 25 MSRP) he immediately became nervous and started making excuses. When I told him that I would be calling hiss boss, the price immediately went down to $ 50.
When I spoke to the supervisor at A-​1, i was even more disappointed to find that the scam came from the top, with more attempts at justifying such unethical markup. However, when I mentioned I would be notifying the BBB (Better Business Bureau) the price went down even further!
This company is taking advantage of people in difficult situations by marking up prices on generic parts up to 250% and including labor costs not mentioned over the phone once the technician arrives. I can see how somebody with no knowledge of appliances (and a washer with say, a work uniform soaking inside) could easily be swindled by these guys. Save your money and take your business elsewhere. THESE ARE DISHONEST PEOPLE.

I have had someone come in to fix my dishwasher 3 times in the past month and it’s still not draining. They say it’s repaired, but don’t stay (or come back) to see what happens when the wash cycle is completed. Surely enough, when the machine is done washing it’s still not draining.
Their repair guys are the worst! They are rude and condescending.
They have also canceled appointments on me at the last minute, only to come in the next day and still be unable to fix the dishwasher.
I don’t understand why my landlady insists on using them. I can only imagine that they are cheap.

Someone from their office called me to complain about the review left. What was interesting was rather then trying to apologize he said I was wrong and he only spoke to me and my assistant one time when in fact we had to call every day to find out what happened. He also said at least we did not charge you the service call, good thing you didn’t because you wasted a week of our time. This person would not know good service if it hit him in the head, rather he chose to talk over me and argue until I told him to stop wasting more of my time and hung up.

Truly a 5 star Appliances repair in LA area. You can really depend on these guys to come out, handle heavy work and treat you with respect. I ve had them come out to my place few times in the last 5 – 10 years, even my offices and its always a excellent service.
Would definitely recommend them as they thoroughly know what’s going on and don’t mess around with anything. the BEST place and very easy going people.:))

Great service. They came out quickly to assess the work we wanted and after we agreed on the work and quote, they came out the next day to start. The communication was a little slow but in the end, they got the job done for a reasonable and fair price. I would go back to them for an A/​C or heating job.

This is really a 3 ½ star review. I rounded up since the workers were so great.
My front load washing machine was leaking water. The rubber thingy had a big hole in it! So I told my hubby to order the part and go on youtube to see how to replace it. Easy, right?! Umm, no.
We ordered the rubber thingy (LG Electronics 4986ER0004 °F Washing Machine Door Boot Gasket with Drain Port) on Amazon for like 40 bucks.
We then went on youtube and found a video.
Next: struggle, swear, throw things, sweat, and give up. That’s basically how it went down.
The problem was we didn’t have a very important tool — stretcher thingy-​ma-​bobber.
Our sweet hardware store down the street doesn’t carry it and the dreaded Home Depot wanted like 70 bucks. Ugh.
We kept trying. But, between the two of us, there was NO getting that thing on without that stupid tool !
So we called A-​1 Service Appliance.
My husband told the woman on the phone THREE times to make SURE they BRING that tool !! Because basically, that’s all we needed for them to do — put it on with that tool.
We didn’t need to «diagnose the problem» or take everything apart. We just needed that tool to put the darn thing on.
Guess what. He showed up withOUT the tool. It would have saved us, and the company TIME and aggravation if she had RELAYED THE MESSAGE WE GAVE. But, she didn’t.
We got a price from him — less than if we needed diagnosis and the part, since we already had them. Fair deal.
Now we have to wait until tomorrow for them to come back.
OWNER: Talk to your receptionist !! She does not do her job thoroughly !!!
Second day (today:) Two guys showed up — Joseph and Nadi, with that blasted tool.
All is good with the world. And so, I just completed 5 loads of stinky laundry.
OWNER: I will call on your services again because your guys were great.
Your receptionist, not so much. She wasted your own workers’ time! Time is money. And my time is valuable as well !
I will update this review when I call A-​1 Service Appliance the next time I’m in need. Hopefully, receptionist will not be half-​assed, but thorough. It is a VERY important part of the job, wouldn’t you agree?
PS — English is not so great with some of the workers. Be patient. They’re sweet, nonetheless.

My A/​C unit stopped working on Sunday night. Emailed and called a couple places that night and by Monday morning 9:30 I had not heard back from anyone. So I called A-​1. Mark answered and was extremely nice. He sent out Theodore, who came in less than an hour. Theodore was very nice and professional. He changed the filter, replaced the compressor and added fluid to the A/​C unit. Got my A/​C up and running in less than 30 minutes for a very fair price. I am a cool and happy customer!

A-​1 fixed my broken A/​C and installed my Nest thermostats. Both went really well! The guys were very professional, courteous, and did a good job on the repairs.
1. Air Conditioning repair: one of my A/​Cs stopped working. It turned out to be a pretty big breakdown in the unit, but the guys were on it. They were able to figure out how to access the unit (it’s in the ceiling, so it’s pretty tricky). They had all the parts in the truck that they needed. They also took the time to show me what was wrong and explain what they were doing. They even had some filters that they gave me — installed them in both of my A/​C units (the broken and non broken one). Once the A/​C was fixed, they turned it on, and used a machine to take the exact temperature of the air coming out of the vent.
Bonus: one of the guys heard some noise coming from the vent. He said «that’s not right» and adjusted the grille so that the noise stopped!!! I thought the noise was normal… I’m grateful for this small but important fix.
2. Nest installation: I had purchased the Nest thermostat a while ago. I thought about installing them myself, but erred on the side of caution and went with a professional. I’m glad I did. They had both Nest units up and running in no time flat — probably under 30 minutes for 2 installs.
I also really appreciated that they took the time to cleanup. They asked me for my vacuum cleaner, and vacuumed when they finished. They moved paintings off the wall without my having to ask (paintings that were not directly blocking what they were doing, but could have been accidentally hit in the process). They even moved my heavy bed in order to access the thermostat… and remembered to move it back!
