I dropped out after five weeks. Some of the reviews I’ve read talk about the «anti –white“socio-political snack down Antioch seems to grind. I would attest to that. It’s known as a factory. And I also think that institutionalized hate on any end of the spectrum doesn’t work-​but seems inevitable given our sick society.
I was disappointed that any agenda other than healthcare would be present in a schools curriculum that shapes healthcare providers.
As a society we have trouble cleaning up our «shadow sides» and the culture of this school shows that glaringly.
The focus should be on healthcare period. Not on «targeting» anyone.
We all need healthcare as a society and we are all equal.
Our unhealed society is shown very strongly in this schools culture. With the teachers leading the charge. What’s new?

I am currently looking at the Antioch MPA non-​profit program. Any Antioch current students or graduates that can provide me with their personal experiences and/​or recommendation to attend the school?

I have lived all over the world and because of that I continued my higher education at several different places. However, none before Antioch had much impact on my life. It is founded upon and functions under a liberal mindset, which isn’t a criticism since I share that mindset, but it is a pretty obvious characteristic of their culture. My class sizes at times were ridiculously small so I got a tremendous amount of one-​on-​one time with the professors. Imagine that at UCLA or one of the big state schools with some class sizes in the hundreds! Antioch is very community conscious, encourging their graduates to work in underserved areas like inner city schools through their education degree program, and take traineeships at places like homeless shelters, which are often mandatory to complete degree requirements. If you want to get a degree from a place with a social conscience and an appreciation for skeptical inquiry, check out Antioch. It’s not just at another corporate automaton factory.

Maters in Clinical Psychology.
I have been to several schools throughout my life, due to travel. By far Antioch is my favorite. It’s laid back, yet learn so much at the same time. It’s not abut what grade you get, its about learning how to treat real people. There is a huge self focus, especially at the beginning. Your believes about self, family, and the world will be challenged, and it’s a process, with overwhelming feelings, but it’s worth it, as you become your own by he end of the two years. the schedules are flexible, it’s a good fit if you have a family, or have a full time job. There are few options:
1: come weekdays (flexible hours).
2: come weekends.
3: every other weekend.
It can also be part time or full time. They have a writing center that is open to all students who need help with writing papers at anytime while your still attending school. They also offer a free writing course for students who want to learn to write psychology papers. It’s a stress free environment, chilled, drama free. I recently learned the school offers a BA completion program, for individuals who started and not finished their BA degree (Uncompleted BA not necessarily from Antioch), Call and ask for information, my area is the masters program.
I would recommend this school to individuals who are passionate towards making a difference, PLEASE DO NOT GO IN FOR THE MONEY! I graduated few days ago, and I love what I do. Learning wasn’t extremely challenging because I am into it, but for someone who is in it for the wrong reason can be hell for both clinician and patient. I am currently a trainee, will listen to negative matters that is draining, so you have to self-​care, sleep well, take care of yourself for others basically. This is not just psychology, it’s clinical psychology, therefore we study schizophrenia, bipolar, antisocial disorders (psycho & sociopath), eating disorders, addiction (drug & alcohol). We also study general family problems, ranging from a simple mother daughter arguments, to rape, murder, incest, and child sexual abuse. I do not want to scare you with this information, you will be introduced to it slowly, and will be easy to understand. My point is, it’s heavy materials, your heart needs to be in the right place to help people. Once you do, it’s incredibly rewarding.

Antioch as a learning institution is hands down an amazing place for a BA. I also highly recommend the community psychology MA program.
Antioch’s treatment of the disabled is HORRIFIC! I have been a student for both my BA and MA and also a disabled student. Antioch preaches social justice yet for over 5 years they have mistreated, ignored and stolen from me! I receive funds from the Dept of Rehabilitation that in 2013 they held for over 11 months. Knowing that I was selling furniture to pay my bills. It wasn’t until I started tweeting about it did they pay me.
So here I am again as they are holding onto my 2014 funds and I have now had to report them to the federal government for being in violation of the rights of the disabled.
Antioch’s support services for the disabled is an absolute JOKE, ineffective beyond belief in addition to the accounting staff and CFO.

The environment is relaxing, very focused on the clinical aspect of psychology, the class sizes are small, and they offer unique specialty tracks (i.e., Military/​Civilian Trauma, Child Psychology, LGBT, Spirtuality). The program involves a lot of personal processing in order to prevent brining your own crazy into treatment. I’ve seen people grow in leaps and bounds simply by attending Antioch University.

I will Unilocal that from the roof tops. I actually moved half way across the nation to attend the Masters of Psychology program here because of their particular point of view. This school is so client focused and really focus on training future clinicians on how to actually be good, engaged therapists. Testing comes very tertiary to being able to show what skills you are developing in mock sessions and being able to academically write your research findings based on real life experiences. If you want to be able to coast or hide behind tests, this is definitely NOT the school for you. The classes are very demanding, including being very reading intensive, but are amazing, enlightening, and really challenge you to know who you are before you try to help someone else. Plus, you will leave with a real point of view of a therapist and will know what school of thought you want to follow in. The classes are small and be forewarned that this school as a very strong liberal leaning (which is why I’m here). Antioch is not cheap, but I can say that it definitely worth it and I am so happy with the amazing staff and professors I’ve had. I am also very happy that my undergrad at the University of North Texas prepared me for the work I have to do.

Antioch is an incredible university that really teaches students how to think creatively and cultivates holistic growth in each student. I am a current MA Psychology student and love the Trauma specialization. It is not easy to find a school that offers a trauma specialization at the Masters level.
Class sizes are small and the professors are highly experienced professionals who really care about each student. I did my undergrad at USC and can say hands down that this is the best academic environment that I’ve been a part of.

I am not and have never been a student at Antioch University. I did attend a 14 week prep class at this location that was located on campus. The campus is pretty nice and the students seem like a well connected and supportive group. When I had to get my parking pass from the student services office weekly, they were really friendly and pleasant. It seems like a pretty good school. I do know people who have attended this school and I also know a professor who is on faculty here and they all also seem to really like this place.

I am current student at Antioch and I like the program. In the past few quarters they have admitted a few more students than they were prepared for in terms of the classes. For example, this quarter there is only one elective and I am not interested. So I had to take a course in another department. my adviser is really helpful. The only thing is some professors assess your work WAYYYYYY harder than others. It seems as though the faculty is not all on the same page.
The best thing is to start their graduate program there is no testing required. in the MA organization management program. I say check them out…

This school has some really cool programs and friendly, down to earth faculty that teach their courses. I am particularly impressed that their MA in Psychology includes a LGBT specialization and some great LGBT faculty.
The LGBT community needs more shrinks who are attune to our needs, or at the very least people that we can talk to without explaining the simple details of our lives – people who just get it!
