Located in Culver City, California since 2006, Cardwell Jimmerson Contemporary Art specializes in Art from Southern California dating from the 1960’s to present.
Being a newbie to Culver City, we drove right past this gallery when going down Washington Blvd trying to find it. When we finally got our bearings, we found this gallery to be a nice little place that houses contemporary art. We were there for opening night of my uncle, Ben Sakoguchi’s one man show. There was quite a crowd when the event started that evening. The collections on display were very nicely presented throughout the gallery. The people there were also very nice. It is always of great interest to me to mingle with the gallery goers to hear what other people have to say about my uncle’s art. I was excited to hear that one collector purchased an entire display of my uncle’s collection on one wall. It is a great space to see works of many contemporary artists. The gallery’s website lists which artists have been featured and which exhibitions will be showcased in the future.

The CardwellJimmerson gallery features contemporary art. The exhibition du jour was a participatory art piece involving multiple video projectors, which dominated their main space. Of course, their skylights were closed for this exhibit. We found some striking art in the back of their gallery. One of the owners, Tom, gave us details on the various pieces. I’d return to this Culver City gallery to see their newer exhibits — see their web site for the latest list and photos of past, current, and future exhibitions!
