Chubby’s Cruisers

I ordered a bike online 2 weeks ago, and now this place is closed? WTF. I have tried to contact them multiple times via email, phone, submitting online. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING from them!!! I am contacting my bank to stop the payment because they are obviously scamming people with online orders.

Very friendly guys that work here. If you’re into beach cruisers this is the store for you. They have a back area where they repair your bike. There’s different cruisers for women and men in many colors. Also, the accessories are pretty cool I.e. a burger bike bell and a tiki cup holder! So awesome! There’s also supplies to clean your bike too. Overall good deals.

We bought 2 beach cruisers here in 2013 and bought a maintenance package ($ 85 each for 5 years) and have come back once a year to get our maintenance done. When we brought our bikes in 2014, they said they would be done by Thursday and were not done, they said it would take until Saturday. We called to make sure they were ready, and they assured as they were, we drove 45 minutes to this place only to find out they still were not done. We had to come back a week later and were not given a shred of compensation for their mistakes. Ridiculous customer service. Unfortunately for us, we paid for this maintenance package so we only felt right if we actually used it. We came back here a year and half later and asked to have our bikes cleaned, maintenanced and replace any rusty parts that would affect the way the bike rode. We checked to make sure they were ready and came back the following Sunday, only to find they had not been cleaned. This place holds no accountability for the stress they put us through and can’t get things right to save their lives. Do not pay for a maintenance package here and do not get your bike maintenanced here. You’d be better off paying a 5 year old to do a better job.

Fixed my bike, tune-​up, a shifter and new rims but they’re pretty dysfunctional in the service dept.
took three trips to get everything done.
everything was repaired properly but this could have done in one trip.

Don’t waste your time anywhere else ! Get your beach cruiser here! I’ve bought over 5 in the last 6 years! Highly recommend anyone to go there. Good prices, service!

Chubbys bikes is the best bicycle shop that I have been to on the west coast. Their staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful.

Always have a positive experience here. The guys are super helpful & nice. I know they will always take care of me & my beach cruiser.

Not a good place to buy a bike… The service is the worst in this area, came in there to get information about a bike they could order for me and it was like pulling teeth. Wound up buy it from another bike shop. Even though they are closet to me I will NOT go in there again…

Great service! Got a tune up on my beach cruiser for ciclavia was done in a couple of hours.

I bought 2 cruisers, a red one and a pink one just for myself .I love them they are easy to cruise on, and the service is great !

These guys hooked us up at Chubby’s. Me and my girlfriend bought a bike there today. I came in three times trying to find the best bike for us and they were very helpful they have a great selection of cruisers, city bikes, and others. I highly recommend them! Also, their prices are very reasonable having purchased many of these bikes over the years. Thanks for a great experience!

We took out our bikes this morning to go for a ride. Bang ! The tube exploded.
Find this shop on Unilocal,they are wonderful, they fixed the bike really fast, and did some oiling and few maintenance.
Very, reasonable priced! And also really nice good people. I am happy to highly recommend them.

We went by our neighborhood bike shop to find out about getting some parts for a child bike seat that Chubby’s carries. We were able to buy one part but needed to order the other two. The sales person said he would look up the prices and call us to let us know.
A week later, we hadn’t heard back. When I showed up at Chubby’s, the guy who helped us seemed a little surprised, like he was remembering that he had forgotten something. Instead of apologizing for dropping the ball, he said we would be better off ordering the parts online.
If had called us back to tell us that, we would have our parts already, but instead we waited a whole week for our local bike shop to give us a chance to send some money their way.
Doesn’t Chubby’s get it? Of course we can order online. But we made a decision to walk down the street to a LOCAL BIKE SHOP and GIVE THEM OUR BUSINESS. You know, like, please, take our money!
Apparently the items we hoped to order were such small potatoes, Chubby’s couldn’t be bothered. Too bad. As time goes by, we will need helmets, a kid’s bike, panniers, parts and service for our own bikes, and so on. It would be nice to go to our neighborhood bike shop to get these things, but Chubby’s has spoken. We are better off buying online.

I first found Chuppy’s online and their web site is heads and tails above most bike sites. They had the wheels I wanted in stock so I made the drive to Culver City rather than wait for shipping.
The store is clean and the staff is very friendly and they know bikes. I wish they were my neighborhood bike shop. The mechanic prepped my wheel set for free and when they even gave me a deal when the price didn’t match the SKU.

Needed to replace an inner tube for wifey’s beach cruiser — was in and out in less than 15 minutes even when they had multiple customers they were helping. $ 11 total

Went to a few other bike shops first /​left them empty handed… A friend sent us to Chubbys and we left with two new bikes. Julio listened to us and sent us around the block on maybe 4 or 6 bikes each. Very patient and adjusted each one for best fit. Found what we wanted, went to lunch and he did a tune up and put the racks on. Oh and we somehow spent about $ 300 less than our limit for the trip!

These guys really know what they’re talking about good place to get great advice always good deals & excellent customer service.
Julio is a great mechanic and is always willing to help no matter how minor the bike issue is.
Chris is great and very knowledgable of everything that has to do with our bikes!

This place deserves five stars for customer service alone, but they do have great products too.
My boyfriend and I decided to get each other bikes for Christmas, and I did quite a bit of research as to where we should make this exciting purchase (I’ve been dying to get a bike for two years).
We chose chubby’s because of the great score on Unilocal,it seemed like they had a good sized collection to try out in store, and we had browsed their online collection prior and they had some affordable options.
When I got to the shop I was a bit disappointed because they moved from the large warehouse and didn’t have too much on the floor at first glance. We were looking to spend around $ 200 on either beach cruisers or hybrids and I told that to Eric, our salesperson when we arrived. He informed us that the hybrids run a bit more expensive so we landed on 7 speed cruisers. He let us test them around the parking lot and patiently answered every question I threw at him, which was a lot. We discussed lock options, lights for night riding, different basket options, and car racks. We wound up spending more than $ 200 to get bikes we really wanted, and to add a basket to my boyfriend’s selection. Mine came with a basket and rack which I was pretty siked about. We were about to get a $ 65 car rack when he realized the only one in stock was already held for another costumer, and the only other option was a model he didn’t think was as good and double the price (honesty always appreciated). At this point it was after closing time, but he still offered to deliver same day for a small fee. We really loved that we were able to customize in the shop and that he was willing to help us further even after hours.
It was awesome to be able to support a small local business with such pleasant employees.

Just went in yesterday to get a new cruiser. I knew almost exactly what I wanted in terms of brand and style, but I also had a lot of questions about the difference between some of the bikes. If they didn’t know they went back to the computer repeatedly and did not at all treat me like the hassle I was being. Both guys were really helpful and attentive with me and with the other customers in the store at the same time.
Called the service department today about having trouble attaching a hitch I had just received. I couldn’t figure it out and they walked me through it, saying I could of course bring it in for them to do but that I already had the right tools to do it on my own. I figured it out 10 minutes later.
Great store, great customer service.

Mixed review from me. They have a great selection of bikes @ competitive prices; however, the service is kind of terrible.
I purchased a bike that they had to order, because the bike in the store was damaged. A week after it was supposed to be delivered to the store I went in to pick it up. After waiting 10 minutes for them to put it together, I was then informed that they didn’t even have the right bike. They offered to comp me some extras or have it delivered to my house for free, since I had come to pick it up in the first place. So, after picking out the extras they told me to come back the following week to pick it up, but to call first so they could put it together before getting there. So, I called (3 minutes after they opened) & was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. 30 minutes later I arrived & my bike wasn’t even out of the box yet. Now I’ve been waiting almost an hour & still don’t have my bike.
For spending over $ 350 on a bike & basket almost a month ago, you’d think they could prioritize better to get a customer in & out.

Large selection of cruisers, and accessories too! The few times I’ve been here, there are always people poking about, checking things out and even test-​riding the bikes out back. The store includes a repair shop in back too.
We came here on this particular visit to find a gooseneck for our handlebars, that was stripped. The kid who helped us was extremely helpful and friendly, asking when we bought the bike and what kind it was… after telling him the details and giving him our old piece, he went into the repair shop and then reappeared with a new gooseneck… No Charge!

I’m so impressed with Chubby’s. Me and my non-​cruiser were welcomed and awesomely attended to during a recent visit for a tune up and other accessories. Despite a hiccup by one of the staff regarding the time my bike would be ready, they stepped up and got it done anyways! I was waiting to hear the excuses or unapologetic tone but NO WAY! Superb customer service! I threw them all kinds of questions about this accessory and that… and 3 different people I talked to were pleasant, knowledgeable, and just flat out, professional.
They seriously made me want to walk out of there with a custom designed cruiser of my own.
Plenty of parking in back and open all week except Mondays. They have plenty of service guys here to take care of you. Need help with getting your bike into or onto your car via a bike rack? CC’s staff will happily ask you, in fact! Don’t let the fact that this is cruiser shop deter you from getting your non-​cruiser tuned or fixed up like me. They know plenty about bikes in general! Now get rollin’…

Stellar Service… Amazing Selections… truly is «Woohoo! As good as it gets!».
Stopped by to pick up my kiddo a new bike cause she out grew her Costco Cinderella Special bike. Turns out that 10 year old girls these days don’t really want to be seen riding a bike with pealed away Disney stickers and all white tires anymore (who knew?).
It was time to step it up and get a beach cruiser, and since Ive driven by Chubby’s so many times I figured this should be the spot to find what I’m looking for.
BAAAAM!
Right away I felt like I was 8 again! Seeing and taking in the smell of a new bike! So many styles to choose from (making that sound that Quagmire makes Giggity giggity… Awww right!”), and the only thing holding me back was me telling myself «Hey Dummy! You’re here to shop for your kid not you!» :-\
AAAAANYHOW…
After we were approached by a no pressure sales rep. we chatted about what was best for my kid and offered me some advice and showed me what was available. It was that easy.
Overall the prices are reasonable and maybe it was a special on the day we went, but you get 2 tune ups for any bike you purchase for the 1^st 6 months, and they will tune up your bike even if you didn’t buy it there. I would totally trust them because they seem to be passionate about what comes out of their store. Once the purchase is made its taken to the shop in the back for a final inspection to be sure that all is proper and secure.
By all means stop by Chubby’s Cruisers, but be warned you may not want to leave empty handed.
