Exodus Recovery Center-Brotman Medical Center

This recovery unit has an excellent group of people working there. They treated me with dignity and respect the entire time I was there.
Hopefully, I will never need to go again, but if I did, this would be my first choice. The other places I have been have caused me to have panic attacks and feel paranoid.
This one is in Culver City. Across the street from the hospital.
At Exodus Recovery, they patiently explained everything. When I was ready to go, they were ready to help. They even drove me to my destination.
By the way, I had read reviews about this place before going and was a little nervous, however, that particular one closed down four months ago. This one has only been open for a year.

This is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place. My sister was brought there she was released a little over 24 hrs i would say about 29 hrs, we brought her there with suicidal ideations she has been a schizophrenic for years, First the facility did not call us once she was admitted to get history (we left her at Brotmans Ed after we were told it would be several hours before MD would see her and this was now 2 am) we figure she would be safe and we all had to be at work by 07 am. So we get a call today that they were Discharging her because the PSYCHIATRIST said she was LEUCID and no homocidal thoughts we questioned this yet they kepted saying the DOCTOR said she was ready to go, OK so we tell them we will pick her up, WE WILL PICK HER UP WE ARE ON THE WAY. We get there (w/​in the hour) and they tell us they sent her home we said why since we were on the way they tell us she is an adult and DOCTOR said she was OK and she gave them the correct address .We go to her house she is not there, we could not find her for 4 hours we filed a police report and all we could do was wait. We get a call from a family who my sister works for to rtell us that they were afraid because she was acting WEIRD, they were so afraid of her they forgot to give us physical address but thet told us where the complex was located so we were able to find it and her. So we get her and we are calling the PET team to come to home to eval her and place her. We call EXODUS back they said they did everything right, i place a call to the Administer of the facility left my number and no call back. This is negligence we told them she was not ok and she told them what she needed to in order to get out. Please listen to our reviews do not take your love ones to EXODUS i am filing a complaint against them with LAC-​DMH.
The people there are so uncaring no empathy I am a health care provider as well as my daughters this is horrible those 4 hours of not knowing where she was if she was ok was TORTURE. No one should have to go through this treatment.

I would not be alive TODAY if it weren’t for the team at Exodus. Sure I didn’t neceaasrily like what was said to me at times BUT I needed to Hear IT. What I heard and learned there has kept me alive and being a productive member of society for years. My yhanks go to the staff at that time Leslie, dr. Murphy and Dr. Honzel. all of us in recovery have many people to thank for our sobriety, and mine starts with exodus and their staff. Thanks for everything. Woody

My son was taken by the SMART team to one of the Exodus Mental Health Crisis Centers near USC. They didn’t call me but my son was coached by his doctor to call me and apologize for threatening to kill me. The doctor said, if you don’t take him home, I’m sending him to a shelter. The doctor was rude, claiming his 20 years of experience means that what he says goes, and telling me that I am the abuser.
There was no effort on their part to coordinate with my son’s treatment team, as a matter of fact, when my son’s therapist called, she was told, «the doctor says he’s already dealt with this case and he’s not talking to anyone else.» They provided no information. There definitely WAS NOT a discharge plan or any coordination of services.

I’ve been here before with a friend and had no problem. this time was terrible. the person at the desk (some uneducated woman) laught at my request to see a doc.
I left in discust in hopes to find a better place and didn’t that night sucked, and so does this place blah. hire people that care about what they are doing.

I took a friend to Exodus that needed some immediate mental health help. We were directed to Exodus by a county worker. It was horrific. The staff, but 2, were rude and very condescending. They treated my friend terribly. She was very fragile emotionally, and they discounted her needs to such an extent I had never witnessed before. The Psychiatrist, Nina, in particular was down-​right mean spirited. If you have a loved one who needs help, do not send them there, find an alternative.
