In the Act is an incredible place to take casting director workshops.
Their prices are the best I’ve seen in the city.
The casting directors they bring in are truly professionals and their resumes prove that.
The actors are extremely talented (many working actors) and you often feel like you are home watching tv and forget your in a cd workshop.
Street parking is easy — just read the signs.
And the staff is awesome!

I took workshops here years ago. Its a sham as all workshops are. The people who run and own the place are shady. These CD’s travel around to get money from needy actors. It’s sad because alot of the actors are new and don’t know how to get an agent or get seen so they pay ITA to get them in front of these casting directors. The problem is that the CD’s are getting 1000 submitions for each role after 30 minutes of posting it. They aren’t gonna go to a file to check. They have WME and CAA submitting on one line roles.
ITA is one of the oldest and worst of the bunch. They have relationships with these CD’s and perpectuate this illegal enterprise. They act like it is about teaching actors but it is not. It is about getting a job. The people that own this are run this one are the rudiest as well. Watch out and stay away.
Do a play, get in a class, people will refer you. Don’t be scammed by these people. They are not trying to help you.

I couldn’t recommend ITA more. If you’re an actor in LA and looking to get ahead in the «business» then this is a place you want to be. First of all, they screen their talent. This is essential. Good, currently working CD directors only go to the workshops that have legit talent. If they’re not screening their talent then the talent is most likely not legit.
The proof is in the pudding. ITA Productions is where I met the CD for Criminal Minds who two days later called me in and booked me on the show.

I have been coming here off and on for years. One of the top workshop places in town. Great prices, great guests and best of all they audition their actors so you know you will get a scene partner that actually knows what they are doing. Great place.

ITA is hands down the best place for workshops. All the actors that come through are so supportive. I was nervous my first day similar to the first day of school:) Everyone was so warm and friendly even the guests they bring in are «actor friendly» ITA also offers amazing acting classes at great prices. I am a big Sydney Walsh fan check out her class.
So happy I found this place it has changed my career and confidence!

Based on my interactions today, I would not recommend this place. We parked in their side parking lot. My Fiancée is a SAG-​AFTRA member and she was interested in the workshops offered at this place. She wanted to grab a cookie at the gluten-​free place two doors down before going into get information from ITA. We were 10 seconds past the front door when some guy came barreling out while talking on the phone yelling at us «Didn’t you see the sign! You can’t park there» After he screamed again that i couldn’t park there. I looked at my fiancée asking if I should explain but she just shook her head, «No!». I understand that they pay for the parking spaces for their patrons, but only 1 of the 5 spaces were occupied and he did not ask if we were coming by later or explain that they imminently needed the spaces! He just ran out screaming right away at me. I guess they are so well regarded that they do not mind being rude to potential customers, clients, or fellow industry members.

This place is just fabulous!

By far the best Casting Director Workshop in L.A. Really talented actors, great guests, amazing staff and prices that can’t be beat. You’d be a fool to go anywhere else.

Agree with these earlier posts. If you’re an actor in L.A., feel you’re ready to be seen by casting directors and want to find work, ITA is the place. Got acting chops? You’re in. The audition process is to keep it a serious place for serious actors. After that the workshops are plentiful and reasonably priced. The professionals running the workshops are actively casting roles for TV and films now! This doesn’t guaranty you a gig but it gets you in front on of today’s CDs. So if you have the talent and what they’re looking for, it’s a real job that PAYS. Need to hone your skills a bit? Who doesn’t? Ask about Adam Marcus’ class… bargined priced and awesome. A working director and screenwriter (his most recent movie was # 1 this weekend) Adam knows what works on camera. I don’t often write reviews but this place needs to be known.

I’ll probably regret this later, as I.T.A. is one of the best-​kept secrets we actors keep… and the more popular this place becomes, the quicker I’ll have to be about signing up for their workshops with casting professionals (they have workshops with Directors of television shows, heads of network casting, head CDs, Associate Casting Directors, etc.).
But the owners of this wonderful resource for actors deserve to make their rent each month, and more talented and serious actors deserve to know about the fact that there ARE places that you can find for casting director workshops that aren’t willing to rob you blind, just so you can get in the same room with a casting director. The fact that ITA charges HALF of what some of their competitors charge has motivated me to make the commute from Hollywood (work) and Studio City (home) to the west side for the past few years. (Note: Actually, the commute from the valley is surprisingly easy in the evenings, since it’s going against traffic!)
Here’s what’s great about ITA:
You have to audition first, before you can sign up for any workshops.
What’s so great about that?
1) Some casting directors prefer to bring in (and assign to you) their own material. When that happens, they often assign you a partner (fellow classmate/​actor), and after a very short rehearsal period you both go up and perform the scene together. In those instances, you’re going to be in much better shape if your scene partner is AT LEAST as competent as you are. (The last thing you would want is to be paired with someone who’s not ready for this sort of challenge… If they’re terrible, then you look terrible too!) At ITA, they’ve done their due diligence to make sure that you don’t have that problem.
2) On at least three separate occasions over the years, I have heard head casting directors comment about the consistent high quality of actors that they see when they come to I.T.A. That’s an automatic point in your favor, in my opinion.
Other things that make ITA a wonderful place?
Their CD workshops are at rock bottom prices. Seriously. Recently they ran a special where a lot of their upcoming workshops were only $ 25. That’s unheard of in most places!
The classes are reasonably small (as opposed to the 40+ actors that I’ve seen attending at some other workshops!), so you get a fair amount of time and attention from the casting professional.
Some of the actors attending the workshops at ITA are regularly booking guest stars, and still attribute their success to having been on a casting director’s short list, because they met at a workshop.
They regularly have actor showcases for those actors looking to find a new agent or manager.
The staff members are friendly and helpful. (They’re actors, too!)
The atmosphere amongst the other actors is very supportive. I like the people that I meet there.
Free parking in the neighborhood right behind Washington Blvd.
There’s a great gluten free bakery right down the street. (But I digress!)
Ok. Get your butt down there before I pull this review. It’s already making me nervous… (Isn’t that funny, how sometimes people don’t want to share the things that they love best?)
As you probably know, there is no promise of work just because you enrolled in a class and got to strut your stuff in front of a heavy-​hitting casting director who is currently casting. And this is just my personal experience, mind you… But less than a month after I took a class at ITA with the head CD for Criminal Minds, I got called straight to producers (a huge compliment!) for a really great role… and I booked it!

In The Act is hands-​down the best place to take workshops. I live in Santa Clarita and I will drive all the way to Culver City just for ITA! The caliber of other actors is stellar, you can trust that you will be paired with talented actors if you are partnered in a scene by a casting director. The Talent Blast the last Sunday of the Month is the best theater in town, and the best CDs know it. After studying with Adam Marcus (camera style scene study) this last year I booked 12 gigs in 12 months! 1 play = Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate. 5 TV shows = Awake, The Newsroom, Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, Switched At Birth, Up All Night. 2 commercials = Bud Light and Allstate, 2 print jobs and 2 films = Atlas Shrugged 2 and Revelation Road. I credit ITA with giving me the tools and the visibility to achieve this success. Am I bragging? You bet I am.
Did I mention that their prices are absolutely the best you will find. Period.

ITA is dedicated to helping an actor succeed in Los Angeles. Although NO ONE can guarantee success, ITA offers legitimate classes with Casting Directors, TV & Film Directors and Producers who offer keen insight about the business.
