History

Established in 2010.

Marcelo A., owner of Libra, opened M grill, another Brazilian Steakhouse located on Wilshire Blvd. 7 years ago. Marcelo thought the westside needed another Brazilian Steakhouse and downtown Culver City seemed like the perfect spot. Located in the heart of downtown Culver City, Libra opened in April 2010.

It started as a food by the pound concept in the beginning, but after 2 months, Marcelo realized that the customers wanted more. He then decided to change the concept to Churrascaria, rodizio style, where the gauchos (meat carvers) come to the table and cut each piece of meat individually for each customer until you are finished eating.

Meet the Business Owner

Marcelo A.

Business Owner

Marcelo was born and raised in Brazil. He lived there for 18 years and came to the US in 1990. After failing numerous times in other businesses, Marcelo and his friend Manny decided to open their first restaurant M grill in 2003. After M grill’s success and upon gathering some experience, Marcelo decided it was time to open a second restaurant in an area that needed a new and fresh idea. In April 2010, Libra Brazilian Steakhouse has opened its doors in the heart of downtown Culver City, where many think has the highest concentration of Brazilians in the LA area. Marcelo has dual Brazilian and American citizenships, is married, has two daughters, and has resided in Los Angeles for the past 20 years.
