Main Street Salon

Erin has taken care of my long curly hair for about two years now and she’s fantastic! She just took my way too long hair to right below my shoulders and added tons of flattering layers and it looks great. She’s really a genius at figuring out how your hair texture will work with a particular cut.
I just visited the salon Saturday, which is the first time I’ve seen it since the remodel. It’s beautiful. There’s free parking on the street next to Main or in the Trader Joes parking lot. We were all very sad to hear about Michael’s passing, but I know he would be happy to see the salon run by such a capable young woman.

This place is under new management now. I hadn’t been there before, but I can say that I had a GREAT experience with Erin! I had gotten my hair cut in the morning at one of the cheaper walk-​in shops and the girl gave me a really dull shoulder-​length cut. It was bugging me, so I called Erin to see if she should chop it up and give me some layers and volume. She did a wonderful job, charged me a reasonable price (since she didn’t need to wet my hair) and was incredibly sweet and fun to talk to. I think I’ve found my new salon!

I had a great Brazilian blowout here and really like Erin! She’s professional, friendly and fast :)

I found out about Salon Me through Unilocal.I checked it out for myself and it’s a neat place. It’s located in downtown Culver City.
Stacey took very good care of me. She did an amazing job with both my haircut and my Brazilian blowout. I had long hair and decided to get a long bob. I cannot emphasize how well she did! I absolutely love my hair and the service was fantastic!
Salon Me is definitely my go to hair salon from now on.

I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Michael. I came in with a bad haircut that I just got 2 days ago and he fixed everything about my bangs that I wasn’t liking (in 5 minutes) presto. He is a true artist! And I give him my highest recommendation period.

Michael is the owner and at the end of my session was like a friend I’ve known for years. I have untraditional Asian hair (thick, coarse and wavy), so he suggested the Brazilian Blowout, which is a keratin treatment to smooth and straighten your hair (advertised as $ 199 but because I had thick hair which was medium length he charged $ 250 because the chemicals were so expensive). Process took about two and half hours, but there was free 2 hour parking in the back. He offered to move my car for me which was nice. I loved the blowout, my hair is so smooth now. You can’t wash your hair for 2 days which was horrible but Michael styled my hair pretty awesome so hey I was stylin for 2 days. Plus you must find sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. I also told Michael I was showing a friend around LA and he gave me like 10 places to take her too. Overall, great stylist and is hilarious!

BEWARE Michael is a nasty piece of work. I went to this salon because I needed a haircut and a Brazilian blowout before going on a business trip. I asked Michael if the straightening procedure would work on my hair which has some waves in the back. He looked at my hair and said it would definitely work as long as I followed up with conditioning my hair with sulfate free conditioner the next day then after that to use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner each time I wash my hair. I said are you sure and he said yes, your hair will still have body but the curl will be gone. It didn’t work at all it looks exactly the same as when I went in. He also hacked at my hair, worst hair cut I’ve ever had. I took pictures of my hair and sent them to him and followed up by going into the store when I got back and he denied ever saying it would work and when I asked for a refund he said he would only refund half, I said I wanted a full refund to which he replied WELL THEN I WONT REFUND YOU ANYTHING… DO YOU WANT THE MONEY IM OFFERING YOU OR NOT. I was so shocked I took the $ 100 that he offered and walked out. I am $ 160 out of pocket and my hair looks terrible. Stay far far away from this salon

I love salon ME! Michael just did a Brazilian straightener on my hair and I went from unruly to fab! He told me that I would retain some soft wave but the frizz would be gone and as he promised it is perfect! So ladies, if you need a Brazilian straighter call Salon ME, they will hook you up!

This was my fist time at Salon Me. I walked in at lunch with 3 to 4 inches of hair and walked out with a military cut! This is by far the worst haircut I have ever had. Mike was so lazy he used a clippers on my long hair and basically gave me a buzz cut with a little hipster poof on top. I was in and out faster than super cuts. He did not Wash my hair before or after. I was left with hair all over my clothes and face. I will be sure to tell everyone I know that this place is terrible. You will have better luck cutting your own hair in the dark. Zero Stars and a waste of $ 40 and 6 months of hair growth.

Michael is the best! Michael has been cutting my hair for a little while now and I absolutely love my hair. This salon always takes such good care of me: a gentle wash (sometimes salons can be rough, but not here!), perfect cut, and great conversation.
I came in with a really rough idea of what I wanted yesterday. I used two different pictures of hair styles to explain and Michael knew exactly what to do.
I highly recommend Michael and this salon. Always reasonable prices and easy parking on Main Street in culver city or any of the parking garages (1^st 2 hours free!!!). Unmatched convenience.

I came here after my mom referred me and I was very happy with the results. Michael was very friendly and did a great job of picking out the color for my hair which I loved! He even let my puppy come in with me!

Had a great experience! I never get my hair cut at salons because they usually cut too much off, but Michael trimmed just enough off to make it healthy, but maintain my length. Love it! Definitely going back for regular hair trimmings.

NEVER again, this guy called David calls himself a hairstylist, he is the worst person I have ever been to. Not only he is unexperienced and unprofessional but his prices vary just like his mood. I went overthere 2 times for the same service and he charges 2 different prices. He has no professionalism, no knowledge about what he is doing and absolutely no respect and care for the customer. I am saying that because before getting my hair done, I mentioned David that I did not want my hair to be cut so he sat me in the chair, turned the chair in an angle where I could not see what he was doing through the mirror and started cutting and shaving the back of my hair. No need to mention how mad I was when I caught him.
This David does not care for customers at all, he basically does what HE wants, what feels good to HIM without taking the customers wishes’ in consideration. I feel sorry for the rest of the staff becauae they seem to be professionals people but have to suffer from David’ s poor professionalism and therefore lose customers.
In addition to all that, he showed up 30 minutes to the appointment without even calling, I mean really, what kind of professional does that?
The first time I stepped in this salon I could feel that the atmosphere between him and the workers were weird but now, I understand why.

Michael is great at what he do! I walked in and showed him a picture of what color I wanted for my hair and because of its existing color, he couldn’t dye over it but he figured out a creative way to lighten up my hair and got the job done. He also styled it fabulously. Not only was the hair well done, it was amazing customer service and I loved the entire experience. Must go!!!

Michael is my «go to» person for sexy, shiny haircuts. I always leave the salon turning heads with my blowout. So happy he is in my neighborhood! I’ve been coming to him for years and he always takes great care of my hair.

Went here twice while living in the area and Michael totally took care of me! He is an amazing stylist and a fantastic person over all. I wish he could relocate to Orange County so that I could continue to go to him… :(but I know if I am ever in the area again, I will definitely go back :)

This salon is the cutest! I just moved to West LA and I was looking for a new stylist to handle my long, thick hair. After reading reviews from my fellow Unilocalers, I decided to call Michael to see if he could squeeze me in that same afternoon. Thankfully, he was able to take me. The salon itself is pretty tiny, but it is very clean and chic. Michael was very professional, funny and OMG does the man have skills! He took one look at my hair and was able to point out all the things that needed fixing without me having to say a word. I didn’t really have a clear picture of what I wanted, just that I wanted to keep most of my length and that I was tired of having boring hair. I also told him I needed a cut that was low maintenance since I’m a nurse and don’t always have time to style my hair everyday. He came up with a plan to give me long layers and a face frame so that my hair would have better movement and volume. I told him I trusted him and he said, «Don’t worry, I will make you happy!» I loved his smile and his confidence, and off I went for my shampoo.
Once my hair was clean and wet, Michael started snipping away. He is very easy to talk to, and I appreciated the fact that he kept checking in with me to see how I was liking the cut along the way. He was focused and efficient. He quickly blow-​dried my hair, and then made some more snips at the ends to add some texture. I could tell he was a perfectionist, and even though he worked quickly, he paid close attention to detail to make sure my hair was balanced and blended. I felt so great after! My hair was still long, but it has a much better shape and I swear it bounces like in all those silly hair commercials. This was definitely one of the best, if not THE best haircut I have ever received. Michael was right– he made me VERY happy :)

As a person who travels a lot, I have a hard time finding a barber or stylist that can get my hairstyle of the first try. Luckily for me I ran into one of the stylists at Salon ME in street one day.
Easily the best haircut I’ve had in years.
I’ve been to barbers, stylists, schools, shopping centers, and even drunken roommates all over the country. None of them came close to the level of finesse, expertise, and professionalism I experienced at Salon ME. Michael knew exactly how to approach my hair. And while a stylist in training named Tuesday was in charge of the actual cutting that day (I was a guinea pig), Michael was always there watching with a keen eye. He made sure everything was blended properly, demonstrated proper techniques, and explained why it was better to use certain methods with my hair over others. I was very impressed by his knowledge.
They tried a few new things on my hair that I hadn’t experienced before that ended up looking great. And when we were done Tuesday took the time to talk over a few different styling options with me talking about different products and their advantages.
Salon ME is a small studio located on Main street in Culver city. Parking is a bit of an issue, especially during Tuesday’s farmers market (the day this time, not the girl) so make sure you allot some extra time to find a space.
So in conclusion, from a male perspective any ways, I’d recommend this salon to anyone.
