I have mixed feelings about this place… Yes, they are very small and with very restricted hours (till 4:30 pm during the week; no weekends). And, yes, I have gone there once or three times and been told the computer or whatever was down, limiting me to return only those items the machine would accept (which seems to be only things that Albertson’s sells that are aluminum or glass bottles). And, maybe they have a limit, but the dude didn’t count what I had at all; all I noticed was a «must show ID if over $ 10» on my receipt. So, if I’m on my way to Albertson’s on a weekday and have recycling, I will bring it here just in case… It’s much closer for me than trekking all the way to Santa Monica and gives a much better return. Whereas I was wondering why we pay 10 cents per bottle here and then get like 1 cent back, I see that rePLANET actually refunds you rather fairly, which is the reason for my lack of total discontent. Granted, you must redeem in Albertson’s, but this is the case in many places in my home state of NY, so whatever. But, yes, like one of the other reviewers said, follow in NY’s footsteps in terms of efficiency (and NY, follow in CA’s footsteps in terms of the variety of things that can be exchanged for cash, such as water bottles; beat Nestle and those corporate interest groups so we have more of an incentive to recycle!) Was that too liberal? :)

I’m done with RePLANET… I went to different RePLANET’s to make sure this new policy was at all RePLANET recycle centers. They recently changed their rules so you can not put plastic through the machines. Which only leaves you with WEIGHING your .5 and .10 plastic bottles and receiving LESS than half the price you normally would get. Also, Now you can only turn in 50 plastic ($ 2.50), 50 glass ($ 2.50), and 50 ($ 2.50) aluminum bottles and cans at one time??? what is the point in recycling if you can’t even drive there and back home without breaking even on gas??? Plus now you have to spend the time to sort the plastics and count 50 out for each material. Any left overs go back into the car for the next visit, unless you’d rather just GIVE it to RePLANET??? How smart is that RePLANET? I’m burning my recyclables in the backyard.

Why? Why does it have to be a frikkin’ hassle to recycle a few empties?
Because — there is always a long line here (and that’s a wonder — as it seems these ‘poor bastards’ haven’t figured it out to go elsewhere), the glass container is often full (so one arrives with many glass bottles and then has to make the choice of
1. cart all the bottles back home or to the nearest, open recycling center [if you happen to have extra time in your schedule for the day] or
2. Just say ‘to hell with it’ and dump all those glass bottles in the nearest dumpster.
Furthermore, then you have to go to the store and stand in the checkout line to get/​use your refunded money.
Go to Allan Company’s center in Santa Monica instead.

This one sucks a lot. Plus it’s closed on Sundays and only open until five during the week.
Yep! you guessed it, it’s an over hour wait on Saturdays. Plus you have to go into that awful Albertson’s. If it’s not insanely crowded when you show up, it’s because the machines are down and everyone has gone elsewhere.
The whole rePlanet system is the worst bottle return system I have ever dealt with. The freakin’ A-​holes need to cart themselves to New York to see how a bottle refund service is supposed to be run. If they didn’t give me money I would never use this service, there’s got to be a better company out there somewhere.
