I LOVE! Ace of Knives. They have all my dream blades in stock. The staff is more than willing to let you handle any knife they have… even the most expensive ones. They are priced VERY competitively. Don’t listen to reviewer Justin W. He doesn’t seem to understand the much higher cost of doing business as a retail location compared to Amazon. Benchmade takes care of warranty issues directly. Email them and you will be fine. This store has high overhead costs and has to pay the credit card transaction costs. They are NOT responsible for warranty issues. They didn’t make the knife. They just sell them. Then he says they didn’t offer to sharpen it. Did you ask? Try asking next time. Besides, part of owning a knife IS sharpening it. Get yourself a sharpmaker or something better. You will need it anyway. Or next time get yourself a Spyderco instead of Benchmade. They are always sharper out of the box.

I got the itch to buy a nice pocket knife. Cruising the web, I had a few Benchmade blades in mind. I found Ace of Knives listed as an ‘Authorized Premium+’ dealer and noticed that their prices were the same as Amazon’s. Trying to support a local business, I bought my first higher end knife from Ace of Knives on Saturday. It’s a beautiful Benchmade 940 – 1. Carbon fiber handle, S90V blade, very cool looking and extremely light weight. I’ve owned it four days and used it for light duty cutting. Unfortunately, the blade is extremely dull. It struggles with everything. I mean, this thing can’t even cut a Post-It. It’s outperformed by a $ 50 Leatherman. I returned to Ace of Knives today, hoping they would exchange the knife. The lone employee of the store basically acknowledged that the knife was extremely dull and told me they couldn’t even exchange it. Nor did he make an offer to sharpen the knife, which they are capable of doing in store. Instead, I have to contact Benchmade on my own and mail it to them for service. Given this experience, I see no reason to shop local. The price for this knife is the same on Amazon, where you would be able to return or exchange it, no questions asked. If you have a problem with a purchase from Ace of Knives, you’re going to be told to deal with it yourself and e-mail the manufacturer. Sorry, no money back! The sales person was very helpful during the sale, but after sale support is severely lacking. Being told ‘e-mail them yourself’ after spending $ 300 just 4 days ago is a little ridiculous. It’s these kinds of experiences that remind me why I shop online 99% of the time.
