Description

Specialties

My specialties are flute fundamentals — breathing, scales, good sound — as well as expression, theory and history. I teach students ages 7 and up. I keep the lessons lighthearted and fun, and encourage bringing in your favorite songs to work on in class as well!

I also can prepare students for various exams and auditions into youth and college ensembles, as well as honor bands and summer music festivals. Many of my students have successfully passed their Certificate of Merit exams, as well as received first-chair positions in their youth ensembles.

As for adult learners, I support starting anew, honing in on skills, and finding that joy for making music!

History

Meet the Business Owner

Anita C.

Business Owner

I was exposed to classical music from an early age. By age 11, I started flute lessons. I played in youth orchestra, and attended music training camps. In high school, I decided to make music a major part of my life, and study it in college.

I continued with flute at Northwestern University, where I studied with Walfrid Kujala, legendary former piccolo player of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. I received a Bachelor of Music in flute performance. I then ventured off to learn from flute soloist Paula Robison, at the New England Conservatory. There, I had received my Master of Music in flute performance.

I had my first teaching gig as a flute tutor for my peers while a freshman in high school. Then soon after, I was regularly reading out loud and counting for preschool children, and now I teach flute, music theory, ear-training, and history. Teaching is a huge part of my life, and I’m happy that I have the opportunity to pass on all that I’ve learned.
