The food was great. We ordered the Futomaki, Vegetable Tempura Rolls, Avocado Rolls, and Shrimp Rolls, as well as an order of Chicken Teriyaki. It was all great and filling, and everything tasted fresh. The service was okay. In one occasion, we had to wave to get their attention, and we probably had to wave and look at them for about three minutes before they came over(they were having a conversation, since we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while). My mother wasn’t familiar with Japanese cuisine, so she asked about items on the menu, and I didn’t really feel that they were being very polite with their tone. But it’s good food. So I guess it’s okay.

I stumbled across a groupon of this place of $ 17 for $ 25 it seemed like a nice deal since my boyfriend and I haven’t had sushi for a while. Especially when there was a summer discount I got it a bit cheaper. When we were seated it felt really warm in there, in addition to the weather being hot. We asked for ice water, and it was just water with no ice in small mason jars with a straw. It was pretty cute, but okay. Boyfriend ordered the $ 10 lunch box that came with two options, rice, salad and orange slices. He really liked his bento box, but the salad tasted sweet to him for some reason. Many people order the lunch boxes there. I ordered the dragon roll and a Philadelphia roll. The sushi was nice, especially the the presentation. It was alright over all. They came to check on us and refilled our water without us asking. But what turned me off was that one of the waitresses sneezed in her hand and didn’t wash them after. Also another waitress took away my boyfriends miso soup when he wasn’t finished yet. Overall, it’s a nice place, but not that special. It can get cramped so come at a good time. It can be pricy depending what you get in the menu so good thing I got a Groupon.

Spotted iSushi next to where a bunch of my friends wanted to get Vietnamese sandwiches next door. This place took its name after the products of an iconic company located nearly right next to it. They advertise their daily specials without the pricing and their regular menu. The place appears clean with a sushi bar to the left and some sit-down area to the right. Looks like it’s being operated by Mandarin-speaking Taiwanese. Was hoping to get $ 10 two item lunch combo but the offer is only available during weekdays so decided to try their chirashi sashimi(mixed fish over rice) for $ 15. Since I wanted to join my friends next door, I got it to go and the content was placed inside a clear plastic to-go box. It came with a few pieces of tuna, few pieces of salmon, a couple slices of tamago(grilled egg which appears too thin), couple slices of yellowtail. Lots of ginger and wasabi. Kind of reminded me of mass-produced sushi that can be found at the local supermarket. I thought the amount of food offered was okay for the price paid. Free edamame for first time Unilocal check-in.

Never knew this exists till I got my Groupon to try it out. It was a nice surprise. Good food, friendly services. The sashimi combo has one of the nicest presentations I’ve seen. The prices are actually a bit lower than others. $ 10 for chicken sukiyaki. Not bad. Would go back again.

ok, where to start, my son and I came here for sushi. I love the Ambiance and décor, very nice and clean sushi restaurant, tastefully furnished. I ordered the dragon roll and asked the girl if it has cucumbers. The menu did not mention any, so she says no. the roll came in a short time beautifully made. But. Has. Cucumber. I asked another server why this roll have it and she graciously apologized and offered to make me a new one. since I don’t like wasting food and I am kinda full, I said no. alls forgiven then but when I went to pay the bill, my Groupon was $ 25 and the bill was only Twenty-One something dollars, another girl asked me to tip them. like it’s a must! I was, whhaatt!!! I’m not a skimpy Tipper but I do tip when it’s deserved. First of all you told me there’s no cucumber but there is, then my certificates for $ 25 but I only spent $ 21 out of it then you want me to tip you? So not to make a scene I tipped. two stars because of the force tipping, not even because of the wrong order, which I can pardon.

I, myself, walked into a medium-sized, casual restaurant that was clean with brown, polished, stone walls like a castle. Inside, there were enough wooden tables for everyone. A kind waiter greeted us at the entrance. He took us to our table and brought us our small appetizer and menu and asked«What would you like to drink. Afterwards, he brought our green tea and water – the usual, white pottery plates, and chopsticks. We gave the waiter our orders and waited patiently for it to come. After about ten minutes, the waiter carried a plate carrying our sushi, which was topped with avocado. He gently put the plate down on the table. Great! I was starving. I quickly picked up my chopsticks and snapped at a piece of sushi. As soon as it was between my chopsticks(which took a while because I was in such a hurry). I shoved it into my mouth. It was savory. I could taste the perfect blend of crab, cucumber, avocado, rice, and salmon roe. There was also a bowl of fried tofu. It was sweet and perfectly fried(golden and crunchy). The plate was then immediately cleared by me. I devoured the food. This sushi restaurant was clean and well-managed. The main-course was a little slow but overall, it was quick. The waiter also gave us time to decide what we, ourselves, were going to order. He also brought our drinks instantly. The food was delicious but it was served too slowly. There were sushi topped with avocado and salmon roe. Inside, there were freshly cut crab and cucumber. On the sushi, there were also avocado and salmon roe but with it was a slice of sashimi.(A different type on every sushi.) It was pricey though. Just adding a piece of sashimi was an additional four dollars! ISushi and Grill is a clean, casual, and well-managed restaurant. The food was delectable. Service was a little slow though. This restaurant is definitely qualified for a high rating(I would lower the rating because of the long wait). I would recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi– any sushi.

Why you shouldn’t eat here– Horrible service: the waitress(Sharon) was judgmental, rude, unprofessional, and sloppy. She refused to bring me the sides that came with me entrée although they were listed in the menu. Even worse, she sent the busboy to deliver this message to me. Furthermore, my dish was delivered 20 minutes before my guests’. Throughout my entire meal our waitress sat at a table and was on her phone while chatting until with other employees. Our waters were rarely filled and never filled together. Food quality: Ordered the donburi unagi and it was drenched in sickly sweet teriyaki sauce. It was almost a soup. However both the spider roll and the shrimp tempura roll we ordered were lukewarm. The chicken teriyaki was average. The California roll was alright but that’s about it. Bought the Groupon? So did I. I wouldn’t eat here again if you paid me to. Although the food was tolerable, the service was mediocre at best and completely defeated the purpose of eating out to begin with. I would’ve been more satisfied consuming a month old power bar that was melting into a primordial ooze–

I’m new to sashimi, but I’m a long-time sushi fusion fan. But I’ve been getting into sashimi, because it works well in my diet, so I’ve been trying about different places. I ordered the sashimi plate and hot tea. At least on the particular night I attended, the sashimi was amazingly good. It was better then any of the previous four places I’ve tried. Normally, with these combinations, at least one fish is not as good. But all of these were excellent. I plan on ordering again in the future, possibly as take-out, to see if the quality is consistent. They also brought be edamame, which was OK. I think it’s better hot, with more salt, and there’s definitely better edamame out there. The tea was OK too.

On the good side, Their raw fish is actually quite good quality, service is friendly. However about 3 tables(include us) were waiting over 30 minutes for food. The kitchen is a chaos, and it turned a good meal into frustrations. Skip the cook foods, very un-japanese. the watered down tea doesn’t help either . We paid our money for an expensive meal, I would not come back again.

Meh — your typical restaurant. Nothing spectacular to report about this place. Nothing stood out for me to draw me back here. I went with a simple bento box: teriyaki chicken and California roll. Simple, quick, and decent. If that’s what you’re looking for, then this is your place!

Oh man, I really wanted to like this place. I raved to my other half how excited I was we were finally giving them a try. To my disappointment, I found a hair in my chirashi as I was more than halfway done with my bowl. I have long black hair. This one was short and light brown. So disgusting, don’t even want to think about it, but it happens, and unfortunately is unacceptable. I gave them 2 stars for taking it off the bill and being very sympathetic. I worked in a sushi/Japanese restaurant in Palo Alto and we always checked the plates we brought out before we served it. Might be worth turning up the lights so the servers can see what they’re plating. Just a suggestion. Unfortunately it won’t be enough to bring us back as both of us were trying really hard to not hack up our food! Bee’s Quote: No hair is oishii, especially those strands that don’t belong to you!

I came here for lunch with my fiancé today. It was a small restaurant. Nice décor. The lunch menu was good and worth it. Every order comes with a bowl of miso soup(yum!). We ordered the 3 rolls combo $ 12, and a salmon bento box $ 10. Overall the food was good and the portion was right! We both enjoyed it.

It wasn’t bad but it also wasn’t good, and not good enough to go back. Service was friendly, got seated right away(after lunch hour rush). Had the spicy seafood salad, for my taste too much mayo on everything, a decent selection of fish but overall it did not wow me. Only had Edamame and tea with that so not sure if the other menu items are better.

The food is whatever here but I’ve definitely had better service. I went here for lunch today with some coworkers and they refused to split the bill three ways since they apparently have a credit card minimum of $ 15. Not sure where this minimum was all the other times I’ve ordered and paid with a credit card for a bento box or lunch roll combo which was under $ 15.

Came here Saturday night for a quick dinner. Its a pretty small place inside but nicely decorated. First off the menu has a ton of typos, its sorta funny to read them while youre looking through the menu. The prices are fair, not overly priced. We ordered uni nigiri, tempura appetizer plate, boston roll and the giants roll. The servers were attentive, but one server was kind of all over the place. He didnt help us but he came up to us when someone else took our order, also he brought the wrong food to a table next to us. The fish was not bad, but I thought the Giants roll’s spicy mayo was really thick, kind of overtook the roll. I’m not sure how well this spot is going to do especially because everything in this plaza seems to not last besides the Lee’s sandwich shop.

Came by for dinner the other day and it was surprisingly a decent experience. 3.5 stars in my book. Based upon California ABC Records, the owner listed is different from the nasty I Sushi across from the Post Office… ISushi & Grill is located next to Lee’s Sandwiches and has a «Grand Opening» sign over it. Upon arrival, I heard the staff speaking Mandarin and the menu was littered with spelling errors everywhere(like a Chinese restaurant) and there was nothing Japanese about the menu nor staff… eek! Complimentary warm Edaname was presented upon arrival and my beverage order was taken. Staff throughout the meal was very attentive… they were too attentive as it seemed like they would come by every 3 minutes?!? …maybe they should assign a waitstaff for each table instead?!? Sexy Lady Roll was decent. Seems like spicy tuna, avocado and spicy salmon bite-sized rolls? The robata for Korean Short Ribs(2 skewers) was a surprise when it came out on a plate?!? It was okay, could have been more flavorful! Meat was decently tender. …same issue happened with the check… the staff was tripping over each other to assist?!? …and the restaurant wasn’t even 25% full! $ 25/head after tax and tip for dinner.

3.5 stars from me and 4 stars rated by hubby We dropped in without reservation on a Friday evening around 5:30 and was seated at the sushi counter right away. There were already a large group and several smaller tables occupied. Everyone was very friendly and eager to serve, we saw daily specials written on the board and was given menu with pictures; sushi chefs behind the counter chat with us in Mandarin Chinese. We ordered the following: a half dozen oysters on half shells($ 12) fresh and crunchy; reasonably priced monk fish liver, not the best I’ve had but decent Assorted sashimi($ 20) the fish was relatively fresh but portion size was definitely not as generous as TGIS, can’t say I was completely satisfied Dragon roll — not bad but again the raw fish slices on top were very thin tempura(complimentary) was good and generous which made up for some of the less successful dishes The waitress although very friendly was not very organized; she missed an item after we reminded her it was brought to us with apology, then missed it on our check so had to be reminded again. Also with many people waiting to be seated while one large table was left empty the entire time we were there…, hopefully the operation will improve overtime. Overall not a bad place for Japanese(Americanized) food, we will visit again.

Came here with the family to try this new place. Décor is clean and modern. The staff were attentive with the water and tea. We ordered a few skewers to see if they were any good. They were not good, serious lack of flavor. The shrimp skewers were way over cooked. They were practically stuck onto the skewers. The chicken, gizzard were not great. The rolls were decent enough. Udon was serviced hot and tasty. Tempera were fried well, not too greasy. We got the chicken wings free from grand opening promotion Too bad, the taste was very flat, lack of any flavor again. We also tried the fried stars, nice sentiment with this nostalgic old school fried cream cheese wonton where you can only find at Americanized Chinese food restaurants the Midwest. My husband said he would come back for the convenience of the location and acceptable sushi.

There’s really no reason for this place to be rated 4 stars on Unilocal… 4 of us came by on Sunday night — I called at 5:30 to make sure there’d be seats for us at 6pm. Totally unnecessary, the place was empty besides another party of 2… which they sat us right next to.(This gave me a mediocre first impression of the place — I always appreciate when hosts seat tables further apart when they have the space, similar to the unspoken urinal rule…) I was excited to try a variety of things, since a friend had come a couple weeks ago and had a really good experience. But turns out our standard are _very_different and I was not impressed by anything at ISushi. We got: Love boat — $ 40 — so we could try/share their sashimi. There wasn’t any other large moriawase(mixed platter) option on the menu. The mackerel was COLD. Like barely defrosted, smelled fishy, and not good. The tuna, usually pretty standard and hard to mess up, also had a grainy texture which was not enjoyable. Salmon was good, as was the spicy tuna roll. Other stuff on the boat not memorable. Chicken skewers — looked saucey and delicious, with a good sear/char, but was dry and lacked flavor when we bit into it. As if they didn’t marinate at all. Unajyu — One of my favorite dishes usually! Hard to mess up, as you probably literally buy a frozen unagi from the Japanese market, defrost it and put it on a bowl of rice… but the teriyaki was too salty and the eel itself was thin and dry instead of fatty and moist. Tempura — $ 10? — Actually the tempera was pretty good. The entrée? came with 4 shrimp, 4 carrots, and a few green vegetables. I’d say this was the most price effective thing on the menu. House roll — free with coupon in the mail — was a deep fried roll. Seemed a little over-fried, since the fish in the roll was fully cooked. But not bad — not too saucey and pretty large. Total price for the 4 of us was $ 81 after tax and tip. I won’t be coming back, since I enjoyed less than half of the items we tried.

Good place for lunch/dinner. Good quality fish, it did not taste fishy at all. Very good service as well. I recommend this sushi place over others in Cupertino. After 8 minutes of ordering I got my food. :) very very happy customer over all. The slices of fish are really big… I was a little too full when I left.

Avoid anything cooked. I suspect they will be out of business within a year. To their credit they are sourcing very high quality fish, including the uni. The rice part of the nigiri sushi is a little odd, they use very very small pillars of rice(maybe just 4 grains deep and an inch long) so you can’t really taste the rice. They don’t seem to use wasabi under the fish either. The cooked items are really disappointing. Examples: Agedashi tofu which was unseasoned tofu cubes in a dashi that seemed to be soy sauce and rice vinegar. This dish is supposed to be all about the dashi. Karagi Chicken — essentially really small pieces of unseasoned ‘pop-corn’ chicken. Salmon skin hand roll — the skin was burned black, so the roll was really acrid. One bite and left the rest. Despite sending all 3 dishes back barely touched they didn’t seem to notice or care which si why I think they will not succeed and will be one of the many restaurant casualties.

It appears that this is a Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant. I love the décor of the restaurant and the food presentation is done nicely, but the food lacks flavor and authenticity. We were provided with complimentary edamame and salad. The edamame needed salt. The hostess/waitress was very sweet and attentive, asking us how we enjoyed our food every 10 – 15 mins. I can only recommend the Santa Barbara Uni Nigiri priced at $ 10 but even that had more rice than uni. We spent $ 60 on dinner and left unsatisfied. We actually picked up togo at a Thai restaurant before going home.

We were in town for a sporting event at the nearby community college and found this great place! I really like that you can get sashimi a la carte along with the nigiri. My wife LOVED her Chirashi which is a favorite dish for her whenever we get Japanese. My daughter got a hand roll and teriyaki and was very happy with both. Service was great and attentive, and they even threw in extra miso and a full tempura appetizer on the house. Modern décor, and not too crowded on a Sunday evening. We’d come back for sure.

Came here with my mom on a Friday night and it was pretty crowded! We got there at around 6:30pm and the regular tables were pretty much full. We didn’t want to sit at the sushi bar so we snagged one of the last 2-person tables. I recommend either going early or make a reservation! So…my feelings about this place are mixed. The appetizers(at least the 2 that we ordered) were amazing, but the sashimi dish that I got for my entrée was meh. But I’m gonna give this place 4 stars because I fell in love with the appetizers – mostly the oyster special. The oyster special is $ 8 for 2 oysters, and each one comes topped with uni, masago, and raw quail egg, and they come in their own spoon. It looks super intimidating and I was a little iffy about the combination, but it was SOGOOD. The textures worked so well together, as did the flavors. Next time I might just order more of these and make it a meal, haha. We also got the ankimo(monk fish liver) and it was delicious! Very rich and flavorful and the texture is soft and buttery. So appetizer-wise, I was completely satisfied! I ordered the sashimi special for my main dish, and it was alright – nothing special. Nothing had that super fresh taste/texture, but it wasn’t bad either. For $ 20 though, I think I’d rather have spent that money on more appetizers. Overall, I like this place! But I would only come back for the appetizers and small dishes :)

FINALLY got to try this place and I have to say — was very pleasantly surprised at how much we liked it. They really improved the space! We’ve seen it morph from a lot of different places — the last place being a soup and falafel place… and a crêpe place before that… They did a great job at updating that it definitely was a sushi place! Daughter and I went there for a quick lunch — and the place was about 2⁄3 full. Got seated right away and they then provided a little bowl of edamame! YUM! That was a very pleasant surprise. I love that they provide water in a mug so you get quite a bit and they were great at refills. Now for the lunch specials! Daughter had bento box with chicken katsu and gyoza! She got hers pretty fast and liked it. for $ 10 it was definitely worth it! I know folks complain that it doesn’t seem like much food but seriously for $ 10 it was perfect! I had the three roll sushi lunch special for $ 12. I picked the spider roll, tempura roll and rainbow roll. it came out much later from my daughter’s dish but what was nice was the waitress acknowledged the delay and thanked me for my patience! I loved the rainbow roll! it was fresh and delicious! I would say I just«liked» the spider roll and tempura roll. I think they made these ahead of time because the rice was on the colder side and a bit hard. I love made to order sushi because the rice is nice and soft — melt in your mouth good. So these other two were definitely not made to order. But for $ 12 — it was good… You could get 2 rolls for $ 10 but I figured for $ 2 more I can get an extra roll. Excellent marketing on their part! :) OH and the lunch specials come with nice hot miso soup! We rolled out of there! Am definitely going back — I want to try their donburi’s! and their grilled food! Service was friendly but it would be nice to have my combo sushi rolls come around the same time as the bento box! We noticed a lot of Apple people(we know they were Apple because for some reason Apple people like to wear their badges out and about and visible!). And I think for something quick this would be a good go to place — I understand they deliver as well!

Service — 4.5 stars — since it is new they might need to get their act together, but great effort and not too bad overall. Food — 4 stars — definitely worth the price, especially in Cupertino area, the special sushi roll was surprising good, as I am not a huge fried fan, but they fried the roll quick well. Nori of the hand roll can be a little more fresh and crisp(maybe I should eat it right away or they should serve that first so that the nori can stay crisp when we eat it). Presenting is average. Ambience 3.5 stars — nice and neat. Highlight: dog photo on the wall. I like dogs! Menu — 3 stars — a little bit of everything, as usual, you see quite a bit of typo on the menu. I guess it is typical nowadays for a lot of Asian Restaurants Will definitely come back for regular casual dine out nights or lunch.

I tried this place because I noticed it was a new place. I ordered the bento box of salman and octopus. I was presented with a bacon sized slab of salmon so I had to order more to fulfill my appetite. I ordered a boston roll afterwards to complete my appetite. The role was filling however the rice was mushy and not really to my liking. Here is an image of the salmon.

This place has potential! It’s a brand new sushi spot in Cupertino, located in the Lee’s Sandwiches plaza. The space isn’t too large but can fit 1 – 2 large parties if they had to. Their décor is nice and their staff was really friendly; introducing us to their menu/special dishes, and giving us complimentary salad, edamame and ice cream at the end of our meal. We ordered: + GYOZA($ 6): cooked perfectly; super crispy on the outside; soft on the inside. + BOSTONMAKIMONO($ 5): great bang for your buck roll that contained salmon, avocado & tobiko. + SUNRISENIGIRI($ 8): crab meat wrapped in salmon, topped w/tobiko & quail eggs. It’s a big mouth-full but it’s good + UNI(sea urchin) NIGIRI($ 7): they pride in their unis and we were not disappointed by them. I’m not much of an uni fan, but they use Santa Barbara uni which was smooth and sweet… I was impressed and my BF loved them, too. + AMAEBINIGIRI($ 5/2pc nigiri, $ 10/4pc sashimi): I love amaebi and will order it wherever I go. Instead of the usual fried shrimp head, they offered to include it into our miso soups! It really gave a different flavor to an ordinary miso soup :) Came with no extra charge! — OYSTERSPECIAL($ 8): presentation wise, it was lovely. An oyster, tobiko, quail egg, and uni all in one spoonful just sounds like heaven in your mouth. The only problem was the«sauce» they used to accompany it. I’m not sure if it was rice wine or some kind of sweet clear wine based, but it did not harmonize the bite… uni = good. oyster = good. wine saucey thing = not good together. this is one dish we’d opt not to get in the future. Our meal was reasonably priced and we were full from our light dinner. This place just opened up but I see a bright future ahead for them. They have a nice photo-filled menu, albeit typos-galore(haha) and friendly staff. FYI: it’s called iSushi(and Grill) but it’s NOT the same disgusting iSushi that closed down by the Cupertino post office(thank goodness). We’ll be back!
