Lei Garden is a fantastic restaurant for lunch and dinner, serving various choices of unique dim sums and many types of fresh seafood.

Dim sums range from baked sesame rice ball, crispy baked barbecue pork bun, steamed daikon cake, steamed chicken with fish maw, and many more.



For dinner, we have our popular five spice duck, simmered fish fillet with green onion, peking duck, stir fried rib eye cube in sesame sauce, salted mixed mushroom with crispy tofu, and an abundant more.

My parents and I come in here every weekend for brunch.
What I like about this place is that the food is fresh. Compared to Joy Luck Place, where some items just seem… less fresh, this place is fresh.
A few items that I would recommend:
cha sao su: This is some sort of pastry with seasoned meat inside it. you get three per plate, and, well, it’s not bad. I think it is one of their best items.
cha sao bao (steamed): I’m talking about the steamed one, not the other one. This is the same seasoned meat as chao sao su, with bread on the outside. The bread has a soft texture, and is moist as well. I personally like it.
Pu ta: This item is actually NOT on the menu they hand you at the start of your meal. It’s kind of like a secret menu. This is basically dan ta (egg tart) but better. It’s more similar to the dan ta you can get from sogo bakery or 85C (although I like those even better than this)
Others I would recommend are the spicy bean stalks (?), siu mai, pai gu, nuo mi ji, their chao mein is not bad either.
The services is always good, and since we usually come in pretty early, there are seats available (although it starts to fill up by 11am)
I would recommend this place to a friend.

Overpriced.
I’ve had both their regular family style dinner and their dim sum. Both are overpriced and nothing to report back about.
I felt Apple being across the street has raised their price.
For Dim Sum, what is considered a «Small»? We ordered porridge and har gao which are both usually «small» plates and they stamped medium /​large. Yes, tea is extra charge but that seems to be pretty normal nowadays. The workers don’t speak english and they seem to be reluctant about opening up the dim sums to show what’s inside.
For Dinner, it’s just overpriced. We carefully ordered and ended up paying about $ 30 /​person. Nothing special. The sizzling rice soup didn’t even sizzle.
Never coming back.

Fingernail in food!!! manager ignoring!!! Rude and awful customer service, terrible manager.
This morning we had branch here, while our eating, I found out the fingernail in my food. We call manager come to the table and try to show her, she immediately take away the peace and doesn’t say anything about what just happened. We are so angry about this kind of manager. I promise will never come here again.

Had dinner and dim sum here, food wise, not much to complain about, but the price is pretty high up there compared to other places that offer the same kind of food.
I am also weirded out by the workers working during dim sum hours. They come over with all food covered and ask you what do you want. «How could I know what I want if I don’t know what’s in there» that’s what I had in my head.
But anyways, not too friendly worker + normal food + high price = not going back

I have lived in Cupertino for about 3 ½ years now and this is my wife and my go to place for dim sum. Occasionally we have gone for dinner as well and been very pleased both with the service and the food. The live fish are fantastic if pricey. All the waiters we have have been friendly and helpful although language has occasionally been an issue.
Overall I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area.

Great place for a dim sum lunch during the weekend. They can get very busy so get here early. They have a pretty standard dim sum dishes which they push around in the cart. The quality of the dishes are very good and the service is great. If I am in the neighborhood during lunch I will definitely go back again.

I’ve been here for both dim sum and dinner, and really like both.
But let me focus on the dim sum — I think it’s the best in the South Bay. It’s not super large, so the food is generally hot and fresh, and feels higher quality than many other places nearby. You generally don’t have to wait that long to get the items you want, and it’s small enough that it’s always easy to flag someone down if you want to order.

I thought that the place was pretty average for Chinese food, came for dinner so there was no Dim Sum being served. There weren’t that many people there, but my mom wanted to try it because we had always passed by it.
The food was pretty average, there wasn’t anything too special about it. One of the noodles we had ordered was much different than we expected. It was supposed to be similar to Hong Kong Noodles, but it was made with rice noodles…
They have their own private parking lot.

Rude and awful customer service.
Today, 03÷19÷16, around 6:30pm, I was dining with a few colleagues at Lei Garden. Our 3rd dish was a stew lamb clay pot that was presented atop a portable propane gas fire stove. After about one minute after the dish was set down, an EXPLOSION occurred due to propane leakage from careless handling by the wait staff. The center of our table was literally ON FIRE. We all ran for our lives as a gentleman used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
Worst part was that the owners, manager, and wait staff of this establishment showed zero concern. Not one person asked if we were ok. Not one apology for what had occurred. We left covered is dust particles and livid at their disgusting behavior.

Reasonable and awesome dim sum
The carrot cake was awesome, thick and delicious. The Portuguese egg tarts were well done as well. The chicken feet was very well prepared.

Great service, beat the rush, get the sponge cake, clean simple décor.
We got pretty much everything on the dim sum menu and it was hearty. However, i left here very very full. It was interesting that most people here spoke mandarin instead of cantonese. Prices are a bit high for dim sum. Everything tasted fresh and not «frozen»

Location:
It is behind target. You have to take turn onto Bandley and take it past the Target and should be opposite of Marina Foods.
Décor:
Typical nice Chinese place with the Black arched chairs and white table cloths. Very nice and clean.
Food & Drinks:
We ordered the steam fish (carp), A chai stir fried vegetables, a beef and pepper dish, and seafood mixture. It was all pretty good. It was cooked very well and had a good amount of oil to it, but it wouldn’t be Chinese food otherwise. It has been a long time since I had great Chinese food and I live in SD now so I am not sure how it compares with everything else in the area. Overall, I think it was prepared well and came out fast and hot.

Came here for dinner, not dim sum.
Our party of 6 ordered jellyfish, poached chicken, Peking duck, house special chow fun, pork belly and shredded pork with preserved veggies, this tofu dish with mushrooms and beans, and some vegetable broth dish with tofu skins.
The jellyfish appetizer was disappointing and was so expensive. The plate wasn’t very big and it costed $ 20. It’s too spicy and oily.
The poached chicken was really good. It comes with a tasty garlicky sauce!
The duck with the steamed lotus buns was ok. It was way too fatty for my taste, but the skin was nice and crispy. The dish only comes with 5 buns; you’ll have to pay extra for more buns. If I had to choose the chicken or duck, I would go with the chicken!
House special chow fun was pretty good. It comes with a lot of seafood (shrimp, scallops, squid), chicken, and BBQ pork. There’s some baby bokchoy too.
The tofu dish with mushrooms and green beans was my favorite. It’s very saucy, and there was plenty of tofu.
The pork dish is ok, but for those who love shredded pork, you’ll probably like it. Underneath all the meat, there’s lettuce. There’s only like 5 slices of fatty pork belly on top of the mountain of shredded lean meat.
They gave us complimentary red bean soup for dessert.
Im usually not a fan of this kind of Chinese food, but it was an ok dinner. My family particularly liked the chicken and tofu dish. The jellyfish dish was the only one we regret ordering!

Lei Garden has the best quality dim sum and services in the south bay area. I don’t understand why there have been some negative reviews because we have been customers here for years and never was once disappointed. The dishes are very authentic. I especially like the following items:

Why this place gets a solid 3 stars is beyond me. The food and staff are superb.
I came here with a small party of 3 on a Saturday morning for dim sum. They seated us right away, and we had gotten at least 6 things in 5 minutes. The ladies pushing the dim sum cart were pleasant and gave me a homey motherly feeling. Asked for mustard and it came right away. My girlfriend’s take on the mustard is what makes the restaurant good — if the mustard sucks (Newport I’m looking at you…) then the restaurant sucks, but lei garden had great mustard and I’m giving this place 5 stars. Wild.
The dim sum here is great. Much better than the limited options at joy luck. The custard bun (baked) is soft like clouds so that is a MUST get. I’ve never had any other dim sum place that serves it like that with that kind of texture. You’ll know what I mean when you try it. Other places make the bun really rough and hard.
Their classic dim sum dishes are on par, if not better. I had a good dining experience and wouldn’t hesitate to come here to satisfy that craving! At first I was so hesitant to try this place out because of the oddly shaped restaurant that looks so out of place but it turned out to be great.

Yum yum dim sum! The prices are reasonable, the service is fast, and the dumplings are delicious! I came here at around 10:30 on a Saturday with several friends and was seated immediately. When we left about an hour later, the line was horrendous, so I suggest an early arrival to avoid a long wait.
There was a nice variety of plates here. I especially recommend the eggplant, the fried taro, and the large rice noodles with shrimp. Jasmine tea is complementary.
The place itself had a lovely atmosphere. It was clean and simply decorated. Overall, I had a great experience and would come back here again!

This is a pretty standard solid 4 star dimsum resturaunt. I think what makes it stand out is that it has some unique and less common dimsum items that you won’t see at every resturaunt like their mushroom baos (bread), almond milk with a crusty butter covery, and sesame glutinous rice balls with a pineapple topping. The standards like ha-​gao (shrimp dumplings I think is the translation?) and siu mai are good so no complaints there. The waiters and servers were polite and friendly. This resturaunt is great for lunch dimsum or for dinners as I’ve come here for large family gatherings and have not been disappointed!

I just finished a fabulous meal at Lei Garden with our local friends and am now super confused by a lot of negative and mediocre reviews for this restaurant. We had dinner there on a Monday night so I cannot speak for their dim sum. Our waiter and our guests did all of the ordering in Mandarin so I cannot tell you for sure about exactly what we ate but the service was outstanding. Our series of courses included:
Peking Duck with sticky buns
Mushrooms in a broth soup
A salt and pepper pork preparation
A beef and peppers dish
a broccoli with white fish
A hot dish with cellophane noodles and white fish
Red bean dessert
Fabulous hot tea
The fish dishes were cooked perfectly. The vegetables fresh. The Peking Duck was excellent. The wild mushrooms in the soup were flavorful and really fresh.
We loved each and every dish. I think the quality of this restaurant and the creative preparations was excellent. Their timing of bringing out the next course was perfect. We got new plates midway through.
I wish we had time to get back for their dim sum!

5÷30÷15: I struggled not to give 2 stars for this place, but thinking about it they did have some better-​than-​average dishes, though those were balanced with some worse-​than-​average as well.
Some highlights were the fried foods being actually hot. I know it doesn’t sound like anything, but surprisingly when the fried stuff gets to you at the majority of dim sum places it has already turned lukewarm. That matters a lot for certain things like those fried round balls – if they’re cold they turn hard and it just doesn’t taste nearly as good.
Also, their egg tarts are actually quite good, with the shells cooked all the way through. That’s better than average.
Unfortunately they have plenty of not-​so-​greats like their Xiao Long Bao. Those had some really bad wrappers/​shells – super soft and mushy, and they stuck to the containers such that picking them up torn them in half. Then all the juices spilled out.
Also, one potential negative, depending on how you see it, is that this place is far more Chinese than normal – the intensity of the Chinese speaking and the behavior is far greater than most. But I guess if you want it truly authentic, then perhaps that’s not bad to you
And, those ladies are FAR more pushy than at other places. I’ve even had one lady stand next to us asking if we wanted something, and we would say no, then she would rephrase it and ask again like 3x. I’ve never had cart servers that pushy before.
Anyway, food on average was alright. Abnormally pushy cart pushers. And typically bad service (which I don’t ding them on.)
