Lily Salon & Day Spa

The spa signature massage at Lily was nice and given to me as a gift for my birthday. But, for $ 100, especially when there are much less expensive options available I would have expected that Olga, the owner and masseuse would have at least wiped off all the massage oil. The signature spa massage was nice because it combined several different methods: reiki, hot stone, and Swedish. In addition, she performed a little bit of esthalen massage which (according to her) only 100 people are licensed to practice in the bay area.

I recently visited this salon because I saw good reviews about it. I made an appointment for facial treatment. I had one in mind, but esthetician Marina offered me customized treatment that included a quick cleansing, microdermabrasion and hydrating mask.
It was really unpleasant experience. She left me alone for the rest of my treatment with a mask on me and loud music. She did not even check on me. After a while I had to get up from a bed and look for Marina. Never going back. This is a third Russian owner in this salon. I guess they still don’t know how to work with the customers. Not to mention that I paid more than I was going, plus tips.

Olga, the owner, is very sweet and has taken this salon, redecorated and made it wonderful.
But who I really would like you to know about is Mary. I have been going to Mary for 25 years! She says I was her first client, when she was being trained by my previous hair stylist, Rob.
Over the years I have moved many times and still come back to Cupertino to see Mary. I now live in Concord — and tried many different places there but no one knew my hair like Mary! Babe is worth the 2 hour drive.
She is a talented hair stylist and she is also kind, loving, a great listener and just the sweetest woman. She has known me and my life — all the ups and downs. She is a treasure.
Mary is amazing! And this Salon is wonderful.

I came to Lily Salon after receiving a SpaFinder gift card for Christmas. My previous go-​to nail place was super disappointing the last time I went, with 3 people working on me to get me in and out ASAP and the gel polish peeling off 3 days later.
This was different. The manicure was very thorough and not rushed. Shahla, the tech, was friendly, but didn’t feel the need to chatter when I was quiet which I appreciate so much. She told me exactly what she was doing as she did it, and what I needed to do. She also was honest about shellac looking great, but causing damage after long term use because of all the acetone exposure. The finished nails look nice. There are some minor imperfections, but I don’t mind them. My cuticles look great and I feel good about the result. Most of all, I was able to relax.
The salon itself is okay, and why I docked a star. The floor was pretty beat up with large patches missing from the linoleum and a little dirty. But the staff was all friendly and attentive. I think the prices are on the higher end for nail care. That being said, I’ve already booked my next appt :)

I have been a customer at Lily Salon & Day Spa for about 5 years now, and I am always satisfied with their services. I have had hair cuts, mani-​pedi and massage here. The staff is very knowledgeable, experienced and professional. They know how to make me look and feel fabulous after every visit. They are very accommodating and willing to schedule or change my appointments at last minute notice. I have referred my mom and several of my friends here as well. I would definitely recommend this beauty salon to all of my local friends. LS&DS is the best!

Gotta tell you guys: Eddie is the best. I come here every month and always with Eddie. He did a very good job!!!

Christina is the best hair stylist I’ve ever met! She colors perfectly. I always have a lot of complements about my hair. She makes hair look very natural.

Overall, I was very disappointed with this experience.
The spa facilities are okay.
I booked a 90 minute Swedish Massage. The masseuse, who was also the owner, brought me into a massage room and performed several techniques. She said that a combination of the techniques was more expensive than the massage I booked. I specified that I wanted a ninety minute Swedish Massage. As she was working on me, she incorporate several different techniques after I was already relaxed, about a half an hour into the massage. Upon checkout, I was charged the higher price, almost double what I had originally booked for. Because I came to relax, I did not make a fuss about the pricing, but now I wish I did. This establishment should have honored what I booked for and not upsold me without my consent.
The esthetician for my facial was Jennifer and she would have been worth coming back for as she was very pleasant and knowledgeable about skin care. However, my face was swollen and itchy afterward and still is. I think I had an allergic reaction to a product. I don’t think this is her fault though. I have very sensitive skin. However, I wonder why she gave me a facial for people with wrinkles when I don’t have any, which made my face turn out puffy. I could merely speculate that once again, I was upsold on something I did not need, which is very unfortunate.
I wanted a manicure and pedicure as well. The technician for my pedicure said a Deluxe Pedicure was $ 50. I thought the pedicure would be something special, but it was not. I’ve had better elsewhere and for much less. Even more annoying was the fact that she kept telling me to flex my foot. I came to a spa to relax, not make her job easier.
I was not happy with this experience at all. I wish I had spent my money elsewhere.

Ask for Norma, she takes her time and I could see she loves her job. I will surely see her again.

I came here on Valentines day to get a couples massage with my boyfriend. I was a little apprehensive about scheduling an appointment due to some not so good reviews, but I am SO glad that I did! We got massaged by Sarah and George. They both did an amazing job with just the right amount of added pressure. The 50 minutes seemed to fly by! We will definitely be coming back here! :)

I had my first time facial with a male esthetician! George knows so much about skin care! The environment is very welcoming because he was already waiting there to greet me.
I was a little scare in the beginning because he talks a lot in the beginning and I wondered if he will be talking throughout the facial. But guess what!!! He knows when to talk and when to stop! That’s like the best combination in a facial room. You learn beauty tips and knowledge from him and at the same time it’s super relaxing, hope he didn’t hear me snore tho. He massages your scalp, shoulder and arms when he finds time, comparing to some estheticians I’ve got, they walked out for a long time…
I’ve haven’t try anyone else at the shop, but I definitely recommend George.
And btw he is so good with brows. I didn’t have to put on foundation right after because my skin glows! and he waxed my brows beforehand and put some coloring and shaping for my brows right after.

First time getting a massage with the bf so we didn’t know what to expect but Carina and Marina were awesome the Triple Treat Massage was extremely relaxing. They suggested we get the deep tissue massage so we’ll see you again soon: D

I bought a $ 50 Groupon coupon for my mom to get a manicure and pedicure at this spot…
My mom showed the worker the coupon and he said manicures are $ 18, but since you have a Groupon coupon, it’ll be $ 30. What’s the point of using this coupon if the price increases? Plus, the manicure wasn’t even good. Basic colors, not designs or anything. My mom’s nails were short already, and the worker decided to cut it even shorter. This place is not worth your time or money for a manicure

Lilys is a great salon for basic services, they hire experienced stylists who take their time with you & give you their full attention & efforts. I also love the flexible scheduling: I can call the day before & have an appointment the next day.
Their standouts are their massage therapists — I really think Karina & Marina are the best in the Bay for massages. They each have their style — Karina’s style is suited for working out out deep muscle stress & Marina’s massage is for general relaxation. Another standout is their nail technician Chi — I have never seen anyone pay more attention to detail than her, and my nails look perfect every time.

The spa area of the salon is a well-​hidden treasure. It’s MUCH nicer and more relaxing than what I would have expected from it’s location in a strip mall, or upon entering through the hair/​nail area.
In addition to massage rooms, and a dedicated facial room, the spa offers a small sauna, a jetted-​tub, and a Vichy shower room. The latter is a particularly delightful find for those of us who love «taking the wet cure» or «water procedures.» The nearest other places offering Vichy are Claremont Hotel (Berkeley) or I-​Spa at the Intercontinental in SF. Neither Four Seasons in Palo Alto, nor Rosewood in Menlo Park both at $ ¹⁴⁰⁄₆₀ minute basic massage) have Vichy rooms. I love the soaking tub rooms of Watercourse Way in Palo Alto ($ 95/​hour massage), and they have steams and saunas, too but, alas, no Vichy showers. LilySalon is truly special this way.
As for the massage service itself — it had all the right ingredients: the room was quiet, the temperature was right, the sheets were clean, the massage table was comfortable. Olga’s hands were firm and knowing, and the pressure perfect. I did not squirm once!
The massage price point of $ 75−100/hour is discounted by 20% to $ 60−80/hour by buying the gift certificate. No «memberships» gimmicks involved.
Al in all, this is not a lounge-​around-​the-​pool kind of place, like a hotel spa, but what a great set-​up for a local date-​night: massage, dinner and a movie. I am looking forward to coming back with my husband.

I had a haircut and a treatment with Miki few weeks ago. My first impression was great with her, very friendly, seemed she care about my hair, and took time for consultation, although I had to wait 30 minutes to get started… She is not organized in scheduling. There was another customer waiting after me and ended up doing her hair instead of finishing up my hair! She was all over the place!
She cut my hair 2 inches shorter that I asked for. She added perms without even asking me. Moreover, she charged me more than it was advertised on the paper. It says $ 50 for treatment, however she made excuses and told me that my hair is not short so she had to charge $ 70. My hair length is above my shoulder and why do I have to be charged extra $ 20 than the advertised price!!! I ended up paying $ 140 (cut $ 70 and treatment $ 70).
I would recommend to first ask the total cost before you get started so that she won’t twist the price around. I don’t think there is a set price. She’s just making it up.
BE aware of the way she does business (although she seems nice)!!!

If anyone needs their eyebrows retouched, ASK GEORGE. He’s amazing at shaping and he’s just really pleasant to be around. The experience was virtually painless, even though I have ridiculously low pain tolerance. The price tag is a bit on the high side at $ 20 for eyebrow waxing, but it was 100% worth it and I felt that the service is received was worth much more. Definitely skip the $ 12 threading (painful AND 80% of the time ending in uneven eyebrows? no thanks) and come here.

I regret coming here. Complete waste of money and excessive damage to my hair. This review is for Christina who tried TWICE to achieve the look I asked for.
On May 13^th, 2014, I decided to give this place a try because my mom recommended it. My mom had also just given me a $ 200 gift certificate on Mother’s Day to have my hair done at Lily Salon & Day Spa.
I had already made an appt with my reg hair dresser for the same date — my son’s 1^st bday party was that coming weekend. To save money and give this place a shot, I canceled on my hair dresser and made an appt with Christina.
Before booking an appt with Christina, I specifically asked via texts (uploaded) if she can achieve well-​blended highlights. I sent her a pic of my current hair (roots had grown out) as well as the pic of the highlights I wanted. I also explained that I had horrible experiences in the past and I’m hesitant to try a new place. She said she would be able to achieve this for me and the max price for dying, highlighting, a trim, and toning — for long hair — would be $ 180. She sounded confident, so I booked with her.
Biggest mistake — EVER.
I arrived on time, I was seated immediately. That was nice. Before even able to sit down, the manager had asked me for my gift certificate. Weird, right? I was a bit shocked because that had never happened before. I asked why now and not upon payment after my hair is done. She then grabbed a little sign at the reception desk that listed this policy. I handed over my gift certificate.
Christina is very friendly, I’ll definitely give her that. She’s nice and we had talked throughout the whole process. I even felt completely comfortable to be seated there, which is unusual because I’m so hesitant about letting anyone work on my hair.
I had so many foils on my hair, that my head actually felt uncomfortably heavy and my neck began to ache. She then moved me to the washing chair, where she left me there for about 40 mins — 1 hour. She checked in on me twice. Aside from that, she was by the front desk, talking to her associate. I did feel a bit concerned because I had never left foils on for THAT long. My previous hair dresser said that hair is fairly easy to strip color from, so no longer than 20 mins is necessary.
Finally, she washed my hair and told me a couple of times that it will take some adjusting. ??? She said in about 3 days or so, I’ll be used to it. Already I felt the panic settle into my stomach. She wrapped my hair with a towel and brought me back to her chair.
She removed the towel and my hair was BLONDE — wet!!! My heart literally skipped a beat! The only thing I can think of is, «my hair is blonde and that’s that it’s WET!.. what is it going to look like dry!?»
I suppose she saw the displeased look on my face as well as my tense body language. She asked, «what’s wrong??» I said, «this is way too blonde for me. I don’t see any brown anywhere.» and she said, «I think it looks pretty close to the picture… I know it’s a lot, but if a few days, you’ll warm up to it.»
The fact that she actually thought my hair was like the picture I aimed for (uploaded), made me upset as well as nervous and worried. She was blow drying it and I told her, «it’s way too blonde.» But I let her continue, just in case I was over reacting. Midway, I saw that my hair did not change in color and I realized my face was now darker than my hair!
I put my hand through my hair and I told her that I was completely blonde. So much that I was barely able to decipher where the highlights were. She then said, «I don’t know why you’re so upset. This is what you asked for Nancy.» and I said, «No, I didn’t ask for this. The woman in the picture is a brunette with blonde highlights. I look like a blonde… I just… I don’t like it.»
Her colleague came out from the back and said, «Oh, wow! She wen’t blonde!!»
I then told Christina, «I don’t like it. I don’t want to be blonde (no offense, I just don’t feel the color suits my skin color). Even your colleague thinks I’m blonde.»
The more I looked in the mirror, the more I couldn’t believe what was really happening. I started to cry. I was born a brunette and the lightest I’ve gone was blonde, thin, highlights. For me to become a blonde within a matter of hours, was hard to handle. It wasn’t what I asked for.
Once she saw me crying, her attitude changed. She was a bit more apologetic but never admitted to me being a blonde. She said she would do it all over because she wants me to be happy, at no extra cost. I explained I didn’t want to keep her late, and I appreciate her time and work spent on my hair. However, it’s not what I asked for.
She said she would add low lights to my hair, to darken it and give me the brown I want. I told her I didn’t want the highlights «chunky». She said OK.
Well, I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. I left completely unhappy.
