Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits

I love fried chicken. Used to come here with my lil bro to get the $ 1.99 special — 2 pieces of chicken and biscuit. Their biscuits are way better than KFC — soft, fluffy and buttery. Wish there was one where I live now.

for fast food i can say SLOW!
too much MSG, not a big fan ive had better.

The service is mind blisteringly slow. I ordered a mini delta, and it took the guy forever to wrap it up, i offered to just take it, but he took another 2 minutes to finish wrapping it up for me. The people there really dont seem to know what they are doing.
However, the food is excellent. Fried chicken done right. On tuesdays there is a 99cent for 2 piece deal which in my opinion is amazing pricing. In addition, fries there are amazing. The fresh ones are hot, and the cold ones are crunchy. havent had bad fries from them yet. Even without the deal the food is relatively inexpensive.

I like their service and their good deals. It’s taste much better than KFCs chicken.

for fast food, they are pretty inexpensive. they have a special that’s 1.99 for two pieces of chicken and a biscuit. i think it’s 1.50 more to add a drink and a side.
they don’t have the brewed sweet tea that the full-​sized stores have. just that nestea crap.
i’ve never been into fried chicken, but now that i live with someone who has an empty hole in his heart that can only be satiated with soul food, i’ve come to recognize the nuances of the different fried fast food options. popeyes is a little more crispy than KFC, i think their batter layer is thinner too. KFC seems to get this mushy batter under the skin.

It was quite a bit of wait for the chicken… Louisiana tender was the best, the spicy chicken isn’t too spicy.
The sides were a little disappointing. Not too flavorful, and in tiny tiny serving ;) The workers there only gave us 4 sides, when ordered 5.
It taste great, but probably a lot of MSG. Very thirsty afterward…

Since seeing their add for $ 4.99 for 8 pieces of chicken; me and the family decided to pop over here to try out their deal and to check out the new food court.
There was only one cashier opened so there was a little bit of a wait. Chicken was much fresher than KFC’s; but still prefer the coleslaw at KFC.
There were a lot of people who came for the $ 4.99 deal and noticed Hofbrau express is closed now.
Wished the soda was refillable.

I’m only commenting on their sides. I don’t eat meat so that is all I’m limited too. Well I was so excited to taste their bisquits and mac n’ cheese. That is all I got. The bisquit was decent, but the mac wasn’t all that. My favorite to this day is still KFC. Sorry.

This Popeye’s chicken is located in Cupertino Square’s food court. I decided to grab some dinner before watching a movie at the AMC.
Since the food court is fairly new, there was not much of a selection. At first I wanted to order something at Hofbrau Express, but they wouldn’t make anything new at 8:30pm! I walked over to the another food counter, and I ordered spicy chicken tenders from Popeyes.
I had to wait a few minutes for my chicken to cook, so I knew it was fresh. I’m assuming they had to make more, since it was late. I’m glad they didn’t turn me away or made me order something else.lol. When the chicken came out, it was definitely hot. The chicken was very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
The service here is really good, too.

I like chicken. mmm. And as K2’s Theorem of Fried Goodness states, everything is better fried. Having confused Roscoe’s and Popeyes, I was super excited to hear that Vallco (Cupertino Square) had added a Popeyes. Totally set up for disappointment. I want some chicken and waffles.
The new food court, located upstairs near JC Penney’s, is pretty nice. Six flat-​screen TVs (tuned to ESPN college hoops when I stopped by). Lots of seating, with movable tables for 2 to 6. Popeyes, Burger King, and Hofbrau Express, with a few more stands coming soon. Vallco making a mini comeback!
As impressed as I was with the new food court, I was pretty disappointed with Popeyes. It cost $ 6.48 ($ 5.99 + tax) for a #2 combo: 2 pieces of chicken, 1 biscuit, 1 side, and 1 medium soda. I went with spicy (instead of mild) for the chicken, macaroni and cheese for the side, Dr Pepper no ice for the drink. It’s a dollar less ($ 4.99 + tax) without the drink.
The chicken was pretty similar to KFC’s extra crispy. The «spicy» designation is kind of a sham, though hot sauce packets helped to add some flavor. The biscuit was very buttery and salty, but not very flaky… a touch worse than KFC’s. The macaroni was overcooked, and the cheese sauce was overly watery**. Everything – from the chicken to the biscuit to the side – was smaller than KFC portions. At least the soda was a legit 20 ounces. I guess.
**: For better or worse, there wasn’t a smack of ham to it (TM Buster Bluth).
There was no line Saturday at lunchtime. Food service was very quick, because all the food is pre-​cooked.
2.5 stars. Not terrible, but underwhelming to say the least. I put it a notch below the mediocre KFC.
The corporate website has printable coupons for specific locations (search 95 014), but last I checked, this location had no coupons.
