The Academy of Police Science & Protective Services (APSPS) serves Law Enforcement, Military and Private Security by providing the very best training available. APSPS accommodates several law enforcement agencies both public and private with state of the art simulation training (i.e.use of force, live fire firearms range training and qualifications). APSPS also is licensed by the State of California, Department of Consumers (DCA) Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) in order to provide Security Guard Card Registration training. In addition to provide firearms training APSPS also offers baton, chemical agents permits (MACE™ permit), Taser™ certifcation, American Red Cross /​American Heart Association CPR, AED, First Aid training, executive protection (bodyguard) courses, California School Security Guard /​Officer training and Proprietary Private Security Officer /​Guard training. The training center was started In January 2004 two law enforcement firearms instructors got together and formed what is now know as the Academy of Police Science & Protective Services.

The original founders believed that training was the most important factor when it came to developing professional security officers, but they felt the cost of getting the training was way overpriced.

Therefore in January of 2004, the owners got to together to create a more affordable solution when it came to pubic safety & security training. Since then APSPS has been a leader in developing training requirement & standards within the pubic & private sector security industry. As creators of the «Original» Online Security Guard Card Course we proud to know that many other training facilities have followed in our footsteps.

Found this company online and thought great online for guard card and military discounts. Well I took the guard card course finished the test. Emailed, no response waited a few days emailed again no response, two weeks later on a whim I tried to text the number, hey it worked the guy responded apologized and took care of me within the hour. So I thought OK maybe it was just an oversight (I hadn’t thought to check Unilocal before that) So i decided to take the chemical agent course well here we are March 2nd and I haven’t heard anything from them. I sent the email on Feb 17th like I was supposed to, I’ve called several times (no one answers), sent another email on Feb 26th, I tried texting again but no response. Very good place the instructor was very help full was on time answered my calls on time I don’t know what these other people are talking about I had a wonderful experience and I will gladly send my coworkers there and refer people there and I will continue to go there as long as I’m in this field I would recommend this to anyone and I had a good experience hope fully this review helps and don’t belive any of the reviews all the time just because someone said they had a bad experience dose not mean your going to as well good luck with what ever you do

Wow after reading all these 5 star reviews I could assure myself this was the website to go through to obtain a guard card. I was absolutely wrong. I purchased the $ 65.00 online course to obtain a «state approved» guard card. I finished the whole thing in a day! How can becoming a security guard be so hard if your permitted to retake the exam as many times as you want?
Anyways my biggest problem wasn’t that the test was built for infants; it was that I paid for a product that was never delivered. After taking the test they instruct you to email/​call them so they can review everything and send you live scan forms and other further instructions. I emailed 3 times, each time giving them 48 hours to respond (so you can imagine I waited a whole week and counting still haven’t received a response from these jokes). Along with the emails I called too many times for my own good. Every time I call it goes to a voice message saying they don’t accept voicemail and that they are too understaffed to answer the call. I called at 10:15 am and their hours are 10 – 5 pm. Just very unprofessional with all the false advertising on their website.
I recommend if your going to apply for a guard card you do it local so you can attend an actual course where you can touch and see whats actually going on. Too much fraud these days to wait around to the next millennium.

By far the best training available for those going into security or already working security. The instructors were great and extremely knowledgable. I was surprised by the amount of new information I was taught. I was told to attend their location in Cypress by my employer who was now requiring all of the executive protection agents at our agency to obtain California Security Guard Cards. Real simple if you need to get a guard registration from the Bureau of Security and Investigative Service (BSIS) then look no further you’ve found the best!

Don’t waste a single penny with this outfit. After you pay, they will never call you back or email you! Instead of getting your guard card and learning about powers to arrest you will quickly learn a valuable lesson on business fraud!

I had read a couple of reviews that were non-​recommedned by Unilocal*as they could not verify their authenticity. I suspect the dubious nature of these reviews as well from my own PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. The reason being is the false premise that these people are reachable! I would strongly urge anyone contemplating doing business with them to first try a phone call or as the message states for faster service, send them a text message. You will not reach them, nor will they call you back. They do have a «contact tab» for sending an email but this will also not get you a response. Their customer service, or lack of it, is so bad as it is nonexistent! I would highly recommend doing some research, calling the perspective school you’re interested in and vet them for information, and also to check their response times. The one time I was able to actually reach someone at ASPS, they said they would return my phone call and they never did. You don’t have to take my word for it as I have no axe to grind, just try for yourself. Hopefully you’ll have the good sense to move on. Its all about customer service these days. There are lots of reputable and fine businesses out there. This just doesn’t happen to be one of them! As a side note I have filed complaints with both the BSIS, BBB and the State of California!

I have seen negative reviews about this place, but now I don’t understand why. My experience was not the best, but well over satisfactory. I applied for the online CA guard card course and it took less then a day for me to get my confirmation number and I started the course right away. So far I have finished my courses and received the CA guard card, tear gas permit, and firearm permit without a problem. It is hard to contact the company by phone, I’m thinking they have a lot of people they need to tend to, but just be patient and consistent and they will gladly provide you with service. Michael Schoppman was not only a great instructor, but a great person as well. He gave me much needed advice and pointers on how to perform well on duty and on the range. I highly recommend this company if you are looking to get your guard card; great prices (lowest I have seen online) and very helpful staff. 5 Stars!!!
