Business Owner

Action Auto owner Nat Briganti started taking lawn mowers apart and putting them back together as a kid. He took auto shop in high school and by his senior year, he was the assistant teacher for the girls’ auto mechanics class. A couple of his friends had gotten jobs fixing brakes and front wheel alignments at a local auto repair shop. Nat was hired to clean up. When one of the guys broke his leg, Nat took over his job temporarily. He did such a terrific job that he got the job permanently. After a few years, he went to work as a mechanic at a nearby dealership and within 3 years he became the top paid mechanic. Others soon encouraged him to start his own business. So, at the age of 23 he bought what is now Action Auto.

After 35 years in business, Nat’s shop has grown from a 3000 sq. ft. repair shop with his office in one of the service bays into a thriving 8500 sq. ft. business with a newly refurbished customer area with computer stations and a comfortable

Gave this place a try after being in dire need of an oil change– glad I did!
The guys behind the counter were all very friendly and took care of me right away. Once we settled on what needed to be done they asked if I was hanging around and welcomed me to get coffee or popcorn while waiting. (Perk since I needed some coffee in my life.)
Price was definitely the best part! With the $ 25 for $ 50 deal I ended up paying a whopping one dollar (and change) for a synthetic oil change!
Reason I bumped one star is because I waited for almost two hours after being told I’d be in and out within the hour.

I came across Action Auto after looking for a cheap place to get a smog check. While it technically is not $ 25, the $ 25 for $ 50 deal you can buy on Unilocal makes it so it is. Upon walking in, you’ll see a nice waiting area resplendent with popcorn, coffee, and (at the time I went) donuts.
The guys at the desk were all smiles, and let me know they would be done within an hour. I walked around to grab some lunch, and before I knew it, I had a call telling me they were done (about half an hour in). Tristan led me through the billing process, and he said that they did a free check up on what other fixes my car needed. I declined the other services because I didn’t think they were immediately necessary, and he did not push the matter. I didn’t feel like they were being pushy or trying to oversell, and I liked that.

Sorry Action Auto, I feel like I have to share this with some folks. I give you a two star review because I appreciated the $ 25 for $ 50 deal when I went in to get my smog check.
So I used the $ 25 for $ 50 deal which was great, but I kind of feel like it was meant to sucker me in to spend a bunch of money that I didn’t need to.
So I told Tristen that we just bought a used car from a private party and I asked him to inspect the car for me. Well when he came back he handed me a laundry list of items that he suggested I get fixed. First off he said my tires were rotting and that they needed to be replaced. Then he told me I had a leak somewhere in my transmission or something and that I needed to get my transmission fluid flushed. There were a couple of other things he said I should get fixed too. He also said he was going to inspect my brakes, and my guess is that he was going to tell me that I needed new brakes too. All in all, it would have probably been $ 600-​$ 800 or more in repairs if I would have had them go forth with it.
After I left Action Auto with my cheap smog check completed, I took the car to the mechanic my family has been using for 10 years and the guy charged me for a $ 30 oil change and said everything looked good to go. I was pretty shocked that Tristen had told me that all that work needed to be done. I kind of felt jaded a little bit. I’m glad that I didn’t have them do the work. It saved me a lot of money.

Yesterday I visited this place for the first time just a little bit before 11am and have gotten a smog check since it was close by. Purchased the Unilocal deal $ 25 for $ 50 and used it towards my truck. Couldn’t have gotten a better deal! The customer service here is great! I spoke with Justin who notified me with a few concerns about my truck and other services they provided. I was in and out of the place in no time! I would definitely come back. Oh and they have coffee and popcorn while you wait haha

Probably the best place in Orange/​LA county to get a smog done. Place is very neat and clean and everyone is real friendly. Not only will they take care of your car, their waiting area is also A+ (TVs, free coffee/​drinks, free popcorn, kids play center, etc)
I think I was in and out in less than 30 minutes.

Had Made an appointment for a smog check for 1÷20÷16 with Tristan and purchased the $ 25 for $ 50 deal! Had my parents take my car for a smog check and literally only had to pay 20 cents for tax! Can you believe that?!! Such a great deal and great service all thanks to Tristan!

I went in on 1÷16÷16 around 9:30am for a smog check. Tristen helped me and he was great. The smog only took about 20 minutes. Great deal if you use the $ 20 for $ 50 deal on here. They also did an oil change and replaced my break light. Everything took about an hour I paid $ 75 for it all after the Unilocal deal.
Great customer service. Their waiting area is really nice: roomy, clean, televisions, complimentary coffee, donuts, popcorn, and coffee! They even offer to drive you home and pick you up if the wait time is long.
All in all. Great experience.

I was looking for a place to get a smog inspection and came across action auto. I called and (not sure who I spoke to) was extremely helpful, friendly and let me know there was a discount coupon I could use if I decided to come in. When I did, I was greeted by Carlton he told me there was a 2hr wait because it was a busy day. He then assured me that he would do his best to get me out on half the time. So I decided to stay. An hour later (just as he promised) my car was ready to go and I got 50% off my service. Love this place! Will definitely be coming back. Customer service here is awesome!

Just got a flat tire on my work SUV.
I stopped here to get it fixed, and hoping they won’t try to sell me a new tire or decline to help me because I didn’t have an appointment.
None of that happened !
The people at the office «jumped» to help me, with a smile on their faces and got to work right away to fix the tire. They didn’t try to sell me a new tire although they sell tires and this matters to me or tell me to wait for 2 hours like others in the past!
I didn’t have to ask twice so they can help me, although they were busy, and you could tell.
What more can you ask from an auto shop when it comes to customer service.
And the price ?!
$ 25 to patch an SUV tire.
This place is to consider if you need auto services.
No offense but Firestone should learn from this.

5 stars for Karlton and his guys at Action Auto. I pulled in Saturday morning at 8 am hoping to be the first customer. There was one gentleman ahead of me so that was okay.
I sat in the lounge enjoying their complimentary hot toffee beverage dispensed from the machine. The lounge also had fresh coffee, donuts, and popcorn.
After about 30 minutes of waiting Karlton called me over with good news that my vehicle passed the smog inspection. I showed him my Unilocal voucher I purchased online ($ 25 for $ 50), paid the good man two shiny dimes, and was out of there to enjoy the rest of my Saturday.

get the best deal. Fifty dollar smog is decent but $ 25 with a certificate is ridiculous.
But that’s not all. I informed them I had a check engine light on, I thought my new gas cap would clear it. They pre check ed. it before running a smog and wasting my money. thanks tristen

Want a place that you can’t trust with your car!!! Then you came to the right place!!! Was here to get smog checked and everything was going great and I was going to give 5 stars but when I left I saw the lip of my car fall off from the glass door without hitting anything. And they didn’t tell me about it. One of the workers saw me struggling to see what happened but I feel like he knew it happened but wanted to play off that he thought it was because of me.
*don’t recommend this place if you care about your car*
