C & L Custom Varsity Jackets

Great jacket! Good price. And great service. They finished the VC jacket in two weeks and exceed our expectations.

Terrible customer service! Was trying to get some personal items embroidered with a logo and randomly found these guys on a search. I called and explained what needed to get done. I was told that they could do it and that I could get it in the turn around that I needed. I asked if I could call one more place to get another quote to compare. After calling back, I was told to email the file so that the owner could make the decision. I did. Then after no response, I called back and a different person answered (who knew that I sent an email) and she told me to leave a voice mail with the person because he was with another customer. I did. After no response, I called back again and spoke with yet a another person who then told me that C & L doesn’t embroider on items that are not their own and that they couldn’t do it for me. After explaining the whole ordeal, she recommended another place that «might» do it. Now with the short turn around time that I have, I have wasted a day.

We could not have been more pleased with C&L. My daughter’s jacket was beautiful. We live over an hour away and they were very accommodating. Thank you Kelli for all your help as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was friendly and professional. Best turn around I’ve found. Driving from the high desert to Cypress was well worth it

Twice now when I called they fail to return my calls, they told me both times they have customer so they will need to call me back, Hello I am a customer and both times they failed to do so, the person, Jessica who answered the phone took my info but never called back. I guess I was only a customer in person when I ordered the jacket after that they dont consider me a customer when I call to pick it up. Bad service and they are the ones that write on your invoice to call before pick up, for what they cant handle phone calls from customer and customer in person.

I’ve had my letterman jacket for almost a year now and I can say without a doubt. This shop and it’s workers will not disappoint you.
Service wise, you might feel a bit pressured, especially if you’re indecisive like me.
Quality wise, as long you have done everything right down to the number, they are the best at what they do.
Don’t think twice about this place, it’s great!

NO Response for 3 weeks!!!
This company had in previous years gone out to my sons school to sell their letterman jacket. Recently they had not come out because of low order amounts.
As a parent who wanted a jacket for my child I decided to try to find an alternative (less expensive) route so that the more students would be able to get jackets.
As a courtesy I was asked to at least contact C and L to ask them out to the school to present their product. I spoke with the office who gave me Pats cell number.
I called Pat and we spoke for about 25 minutes. I explained what I was trying to do for the kids, and he was very rude to me. He told me to just go with someone else. I examined that the school had wanted me to contact C and L first to see if they would come to the school. He continued to be rude and said he would contact me the following day after speaking with the owner.
I called him the next evening and asked if he was still planning on calling me? He said the owner was supposed to call me. I never received a call. I was told by Pat that the owner would contact me in regard to going out to the school.
It has been 3 weeks now and still no response. Very unprofessional. We will just have another company out to the school.

Just picked up my son’s varsity jacket. We are very pleased with the quality of the jacket, as well as the service we received. The woman who helped us with our order was patient and well informed about all of our options, which made our ordering process painless. The jacket was ready in two weeks and we couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out. We highly recommend this business. Make sure to call ahead for an appointment to order your jacket so you don’t have to wait for assistance.

Personally, they exceeded my expectations :)
You won’t find a better deal anywhere else like Dicks. They charge $ 179 ALONE for the jacket. Where here it’s $ 249 for the «guys» jacket and $ 229 for the «girls» jacket.
If you go here on a Saturday, you NEED to make an appointment because it’s always packed then.

Nothing but GREAT things to say… Janette and Larry (owner) were very attentive to detail and spent well over 1 ½ hours with my son and I, helping us customize his letterman. Jacket looks AMAZING! Picked up my daughter’s lettermen jacket yesterday after having patches added to it. LOOKS SO GOOD! They do a great job here. If you are ordering for Christmas, I highly suggest you do it before Thanksgiving (like I did). When I went in to pick up yesterday, there were about 10 people waiting to place orders, probably a 2 – 3 hour wait!!! I was so happy when I only had to tell them I was picking up. I was outta there in 5!

Called the place and was extremely helpful during my first call with useful information after talking over with my son called back to find out however they neglected to tell me only Saturdays are only for orders not quotes and you can call and make appt in the week of. They close at five during the week when they do quotes. I don’t get off till 530 and work about hr away and do not have the luxury of taking time off of my job
My suggestion to cater more to your customers is to stay open late one day during the week or have more staff on hand on sat and have a certain number for quotes and another number of clerks for actual orders.

I rarely leave a bad Unilocal.I was pretty much raised if you have nothing good to say, then just don’t speak. But in this case, I’ll make an exception!
A few weeks ago i drove 23 miles one way without getting to order a jacket!!! I previously called and asked what I should bring and if an appointment was required. I was advised to bring in all the patches and appointments were not needed. I wanted to surprise my son, but i was advised to bring him along for sizing.
The moment I arrived a sales associated did not say hello, she just asked if we were there to place an order. I said yes. She asked if we had an appointment I said no. She then said we needed one. I told her i called. She then rudely said well Saturdays are different and we’re all booked up. I was upset, so i left. Without a sweet sixteen gift for my son.
Listen, I know the jackets are wonderful, I’ve heard lots of great things about the jackets. But if i’m going to spend that kind of money on a jacket, your customer service should be better. Maybe start with a hello, how are you, how can i help you… not a do you have an appointment. I probably would’ve taken the misunderstanding much better should the sales associate not had been so rude.
They are not the only letterman company in the area, so don’t act like our business doesn’t support your livelyhood! Luckily i found a much nicer place with excellent people skills to order my son’s jacket.

I went to La Habra High and used this company in 2007. Great work & exceptional service back then & it still seems to be the case when I went in this week. My younger sister is attending a Warren high school in Downey. Her school did not give any information about C&L and instead another company in downtown whittier. When I went into the shop in whittier crappy service and I was told she could not customize her jacket. I told her lets check out C&L instead because of my great experience over 5 years ago was great. We went down there and explained that her school did not offer any information on C&L and only reason I knew of it was because of my experience. They were surprised. I guess the sales rep in charge of her school has been doing a crappy job. Which is a shame because I know they can get alot more job orders from the Downey area.
Oh well, anyways Yoselin helped us out right away. She was so patient and kind. We were extremely indesive with all the options. She stayed with us for over a hour and a half explaining everything and helping us give her professional opinion. I extremely appreciated it!
It really helped to see alot of the jackets already done and the selection of samples they had. Because what we thought we wanted in our heads, looked very different in person. They have a great amount of options, especially if patches are not typically made they can make them for you (ex.ASB, AVID etc). My sister is also pretty small and needed a YXL, and she recommended that they make a new smaller patch for the front of the jacket in her school colors because the typical size might be to big on the jacket. I would have never thought of that. So I appreciated that. They even have bedazzlement options. I was jealous they didn’t have that back when I was in school.
I know they make everything in shop. Any work is usually about 2 – 3 weeks. The sales rep also explained to me that in the summer they are typically less busy so she mentioned my sister might get her jacket sooner.
Yes the jackets are expensive but I for there quality of work, options, time frame, and guarantee that if anything goes wrong with the jacket (minus washing) they will fix for free it was definitely worth the price!
Overall great place! Few recommendations-​1. Bring all your patches (if you have them) if not in most cases they can make the patches for you but there will be a cost. 2. Bring 50% for the deposit. 3. Save yourself time and waiting and make a appointment.

Walked in and immediately received friendly service. Very friendly employee. Answered all of our questions, gave good suggestions, and was very helpful. I looked around for other places to buy a Letterman but this place definitely stood out, being that everything is made in house, no outsourcing or slow turnaround time. Finally when my soccer coach told me this was the place to go, I chose this spot. Basic Package is a great price compared to everywhere else and they help guide you if you want extra or customized options. I cannot wait to receive my jacket! THANKS SO MUCH C & L !

Placed my son’s jacket order just before closing time on a Tuesday evening and it was ready for pickup the following Tuesday afternoon. I was amazed at how quickly they finished his jacket, especially since they said it would take 10 business days (D&D Sporting Goods in Lakewood told us it would take anywhere from 4 – 6 weeks). The fact that they make everything on site is obviously a HUGE advantage for the customer.
The order process started off feeling a bit «robotic» but with all the information we had to cover (sizing, length sizing, colors, fonts, font colors, placement of patches, additional customization, etc.), I can see how monotonous the routine must be for them. Regardless, the gal that helped us did offer up some really good suggestions to make sure we were aware of the options they had available. Suggestions I never would’ve thought of myself, like including his nickname or placing his jersey number above his position or accounting for possible weight gain based on the sport he played. She even had us look through some of the finished jackets to give us an exact idea of how certain fonts and patches looked on the actual product, which I’m glad we did because what I planned on ordering looked totally different on the jacket than it did in my head! It was definitely nice having someone who knew what she was talking about help us out.
We are extremely happy with how the jacket turned out. The colors, the sizing, the placement of all the patches; everything came out beautifully and my son loves it. We did spend a lot but I expected that and I really don’t think we could’ve gotten this type of quality jacket cheaper anywhere else. D&D’s base price for the jacket was lower but then they charged for EVERYTHING after that. In the end, it would’ve been right around the same price with a longer wait time. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to use C&L!!!
NOTE: Make sure you bring in ALL the patches and are ready to put down a 50% deposit on your first visit. I don’t believe they’ll start on your order until you do.

I graduated from Dominguez High School in 1972. Our Varsity Lettermens Jacket colors were red & gold, with cream colored arms. The school Varsity Jacket colors have changed. The colors are black & red, with brown arms. I was able to have my old Varsity Jacket reproduced by C & L. They did a fantastic job. My Varsity Jacket is truly a classic, nostalgic, throw-​back. Whenever I wear it, I get nothing but compliments. Thank you C & L for helping me perserve an important part of my life.

Just finished placing the order for my sons varsity letterman jacket. I called have been working with Nancy at C&L and she was awesome. Walked me through the process and was very helpful. Although the price was a bit steep my overall experience has been great and I will definitely recommend C&L to my family and friends. Best part is the jacket will be here by Christmas.

Wow, this company could use a good thorough class on customer service. As soon as we walked in we were not greeted just asked «Are you placing an order?» When we replied «yes,» we were told to have a seat. The person who helped us wasn’t any better. Started off with an assertive, in your face discussion of jacket sizing. Really? Someone was having a bad day is all I can say to offer an explanation.
As we sat at her desk in the back, we had the unfortunate experience of listening to the person in the upstairs office have a yelling tirade on the phone (sounded like a personal phone call). On the positive note: I am so glad I don’t have to walk into that place everyday to work!!!
Overall, pricey place, negative atmosphere & employees could use customer service etiquette.
